  1. Shaw is just so consistent. Outstanding player, I reckon he'll be better than Bridge in his prime.
  2. Outstanding result. Morgan, Cork, Shaw and Clyne were immense, and Punch is really looking like a classy PL winger.
  3. A 5 for Lambert Chez?! He was outstanding today, played so many cracking passes. Commentators on the stream were creaming themselves over him! I thought we looked shaken in defence again, so many times when Yoshida or Jos missed a header, the other one wasn't behind them to cover. At one point Shaw had to sprint over to right back to stop the ball falling to a free villa player. We will get thrashed by Chelsea if we defend like that, and Everton. Oh and didn't think cork had his best game today either, worked hard but didn't really come off for him. Lots of positives though, Shaw and Boruc particularly impressed and I thought Lambert and JayRod showed the beginnings of an understanding. Puncheon is giving a lot of very strong PL left backs a torrid time this season, just needs to work on his finishing a bit. he holds the all up very well for a smaller player, and very rarely loses the ball.
  4. So basically, if he wasn't Joey Barton, he'd be excellent for half a season? The bloke is a tool and not someone we want in the squad. Not heard of this guy and the article doesn't say where he plays, so I really have nothing to contribute to the conversation.
  5. Who tweeted that?
  6. I almost think its more likely that NA will get the sack if stay up than if we go down. There aren't many managers i'd rather have when gunning for promotion in the NPC, but I also can see the positives of a higher profile in attracting better players and achieving Cortese's aims. I really hope he sticks around though. Would love him to stay as Manager for the next 10 years and increase his own reputation as the club continues to grow.
  7. Absolutely. Why wouldn't they charge that amount if people are still going to pay up?
  8. Even if a new CB had come in this week (and they still might), it was always going to be unlikely that they would be put straight into the starting line up against Villa, so I can't understand the view that the club have made some sort of mess by not buying someone before the game.
  9. Didn't Henri Camara come in on the last day of January? He was alright.
  10. @bigadamsport: Could be good cover for LallanaRT @solentsport: We understand #saintsfc have registered an interest in signing Chelsea winger Yossi Benayoun @NabilHassan79: #saintsfc tried to sign Benayoun in previous transfer window but wages were an issue. Currently on £100,000 a week, will seek £1.5m-a-year. £100k for a reserve. Madness. Would be a good signing for us though IMO, experienced at this level. Reminds me of Fabrice Fernandes, my favourite player as a kid! No way should we pay that much though.
  11. Injured. Strange to move Cork out of midfield IMO, especially when we have a perfectly able right back on the bench.
  12. Ricardo Carvalho is available on a free. Could potentially be an experienced option until the end of the season if he doesn't mind taking a pay cut. I also still think we want Gary Hooper and Matt Phillips.
  13. Puncheon is left footed, move him over to the left side and bring in Guly or Chaplow on the right. Don't understand how people can say Chaplow is not a prem player, he hasn't exactly had a chance to prove himself this season, he was outstanding last year, and not to mention he actually has more prem experience than 90% of our current squad!
  14. This'll be like Brighton at home last year. All the hype surrounding the fact they beat us to the title blah blah blah.... 3-0 Lambert hat-trick.
  15. It's good to have pacy players, but they have to be complimented by players with power, strength and skill. A team of Theo Walcott's will get you nowhere. Having a couple of really fast players alongside players with great technical skill or strength means that you can vary how you attack. That's why the likes of Antonio, Oxlade-Chamberlain and now Clyne have been so effective for us over the years. They add something to our offensive play that is different to the robust strength of Lambert or the skill of Lallana. Give the opposition defence more one thing to defend against.
  16. Due to some obscure contractual reason it can't be made available online until Wednesday I think. Saturday's MOTD doesn't go on iplayer at all.
  17. Totally agree, if Cork can maintain this form then he seems a natural replacement for Parker in the England squad, and if Hodgson continues to pick good young players to give them experience then Clyne can't be too far behind. I really am excited about our current group of young players. There's no reason why we couldn't see an England squad featuring Clyne, Shaw, JWP, Cork, Lallana and Rodriguez some time in the future. (of course, they'll all be playing for Arsenal by then)
  18. Excellent performance, the defence looked delighted at the end so congrats to them. Really feel for Jay Rod that his goal was disallowed, a great finish from him. We deserved a few more goals. MOTM - Fonte just pips Lallana and Ramirez.
  19. @officialsaints: Nigel Adkins says there are no new injuries to his squad ahead of Sunday's visit of @NUFCOfficial. #saintsfc
  20. Why have you dropped Lallana?

    QPR Post Match.

Great to see us close out the game in the last 10 minutes so confidently. Seemed as assured as we used to be when leading last season.

    QPR Post Match.

Everyone on played well today, special mention to the defence, they've clearly worked very hard and it paid off today. Shaw looked excellent. Puncheon gets my vote for MOTM just about. He was all over the place today, and yeah, his finishing was a bit off but he got so many opportunities because QPR couldn't deal with him. Cork has come on leaps and bounds since last season. Lallana is a credit to our club, his energy, work rate, passion... outstanding. I hope he's here for a long time to come.
  23. Punch for me, with notable mentions to every other player. You could argue that his finishing wasn't great, but QPR just couldntt handle his movement, he was everywhere!

  25. Pointless enough for you to respond to? And no, I don't care, I specifically said this wasn't about having a go at other fans. I was just pointing out the change in atmosphere in the stadium that occurs at this point in the game.
