I think you're forgetting the amount of research we do on players. I don't we're a club that would panic buy anyone. Also think a lot of people are judging the January window on a few high profile flops, particularly since Torres. For every Vegard Forren there's a Billy Sharp!

It'll be interesting to see the mentality of the club if we're still in and around the top 4 come January. Do they take a risk and invest some more money to push us on, and really go for it? That's when we'll find out what the real aims are in my opinion. In terms of squad depth I think we're OK. Like for like backups for Clyne (Trippier?) and Pelle in Jan will make us look pretty solid.

I still think top 10, after the summer we had, would be a success. However, after the start we've made I seriously think we could finish above Everton and Tottenham. Who knows about Liverpool and Utd? You have to assume they'll reach a level of consistency that we can't match, but maybe they'll continue to struggle? Chelsea City Arsenal Utd Liverpool Southampton Everton Tottenham Seems unlikely when you list it like that but who knows? People forget that Everton finished 17th not all that long ago. And Newcastle finished 5th of course.

So many people not understanding what a hypothetical question entails! I'd go for a win today because I think losing in the league at home after last week will dent morale much more than losing on a windy night away at Stoke.

I heard something very interesting yesterday from a decent source. Apparently not only was Cork's move to Palace for £3m agreed, he was actually packed and ready to go. Then Koeman marched into Reed's office, asked him what the hell was going on, and insisted that Jack was not to be sold. Big Les had to call Palace back and tell them it was off!

I know people are trying to goad you, make out you were lying and generally make you look stupid (as is so often the SWF way), but I would genuinely like to ask what your opinion is now. Do you stand by all that you said on reflection? Is it a case that through a combination of luck and good judgement we got caught up in the mother of all storms and somehow came out healthier on the other side? Or was some of the info you were given a little exaggerated?

Isgrove isn't good enough to change a game (IMO) and Taider is a CM. Not sure I'm confident in Ramirez coming into a game where we're struggling and turning things round either. But maybe I'm being overly negative - we should be looking to dominate the game from the word go so I see your point. However I'm also a big fan of Steven Davis and despite a poor performance on Sunday I think we're significantly weaker without him in the side.

Same team for me. Starting with Pelle, Tadic and Long is putting all our eggs in one basket with the few attacking options we have. If things aren't going well who do you bring on to change things? Mayuka? Leave Long on the bench as an impact player until we get another winger in.

Surely no chance of that one? Would be an incredible signing.

We did press, just not with the same proficiency. That will come with time though.
