  1. I might struggle with that time! I was planning to put it on IQ and watch it when I wake up!
  2. Especially when they have to fly to the other side of the world! I feel differently than most of you because this is only our second World Cup campaign in a proper FIFA confederation where we actually play real World Cup qualifiers. Before that we'd just beat up on the small Pacific Islands 15-0 and then get eliminated in a two leg WC playoff against a battle hardened South American or Asian team. Our current group love representing their country and often return against the wishes of their British managers. (ie David Moyes). Having said that, I'd prefer it wasn't at a time when Saints have so much momentum!
  3. I'd be up for that. It would be great to meet up with some other Saints fans. Any pre-match meeting may need to be at a neutral pub though. I was at the Corner Hotel in Richmond last year before one of the derbies and would not have wanted to be one of the handful of Heart fans there that night. On second thoughts, those handful of fans probably make up 50% of the Melbourne Heart supporter base. Any chance future events could be posted on here as well rather than just the Facebook link. I'm on a self-imposed Facebook ban and I'm sure there are others who do not use it.
  4. Does anyone know what his win/loss ratio is since joining us? I read it the other day but can't find the article. I can only rely on what I read on here and Saints Player but I love the fact that we're not just winning but it's in the right way. He's such a positive manager and it reflects in how the team play.
  5. He's well worth following on Twitter, you never know what he's going to come up with next.
  6. Saints vs Leeds is on Fox Sports 2am tomorrow morning. Probably too late to organise a meeting at the Dickens but now that we've got a few more TV games should work something out. BTW, Victory have extended the deadline for Kewell by 3 days. He could join Heart but I don't think he'd want to play in front of 26 people
  7. Congrats on the performance of your team this season and the way you are keeping the Saints flag flying in Brisbane! I was at our controversial 3-3 match a few weeks ago and while I was livid at the time there's no questioning the quality of your team. We're finally starting to turn things down and hopefully might get another chance at the Roar in the finals!
  8. Hey theyin, I'm a big Victory fan. Didn't read this before the Perth game but I'll be at the Newcastle game on Monday night if you're in town for the cricket. If you want to catch up for a beer before the game or even at the game send us a PM. Naturally as a Melbourne Victory supporter I wouldn't be allowed to wear my Southampton shirt to our matches like our Brisbane friends!
  9. I work at the mcg so I'll be there as a spectator day 1 and as an employee on days 2-4. Just amazing to think we are going to have a world record test match crowd with the series locked at 1-1. Cricket Australia took a massive risk putting the mcg and scg tests as 4 & 5 but have come up trumps. If there are any saints fans going it will be good to catch up. Unfortunately I won't be wearing my saints shirt!
  10. Melbourne Victory in the A-League and St Kilda in the AFL (Aussie Rules). It's St Kilda I have to blame for my love of Southampton. It was about 10 years ago when we got Cable TV and started getting more than the one Premier League game on TV a week. When I discovered there was a team with the same name, colours, achieved a similar amount of success and had a man like MLT playing for them I was immediately hooked and have been ever since. St Kilda have 1 premiership and 27 wooden spoons in our history. Last year we lost the Grand Final and this year we've made the final 4. Hopefully we can go all the way. If you get a chance to watch on TV, any support would be appreciated!
  11. I don't think it's a problem that he wants the club he has worked at for the past 14 seasons to be adequated compensated. If it becomes clear in the next day or two that an agreement between the two clubs can't be reached it will be up to him to resign.
  12. Melbourne Saint agrees.
  13. You should go to some games and support them. Obviously it's hard for Heart being in the same city as the biggest and best supported team in the league. Anyway, let the Brisbane supporters have their own thread.
  14. If I'd seen this thread last week I would have been interested. I'm at every Victory game so happy to meet up for a beer at any game. Unfortunately unlike our Queensland counterparts we can't actually wear the stripes or even the new home shirt to a game as it clashes with Heart! We better let the Brisbane Saints have their own thread so put a post up on the Aussie Saints board and we'll see if there's any other interest. I know there are a few other Saints fans down here.
