  1. As an "outsider" reading all the posts I'm shocked at the childishness of people on here mocking the informed facts and opinions given by a member of our armed forces who has spent prolonged periods at sea in Sumbarines.
  2. So you think the Labour Party shouldn't be bothered about not having The Sun's backing? They were bothered enough to have Rebekah Brooks (CEO) Dominic Mohan (Editor) and James Murdoch in the front row of Brown's speech - the only media reps in that position. Ultimately the Sun is the primary souce of information for 9m people every day in this country. Love it or hate it there's no other media as powerful in terms of reach (including the BBC).
  3. The news pages on timesonline will still be free to view - however comment pieces (from Clarkson, AA Gill etc) and business pages/ recruitment pages will be paid for access only. Other publishers will probably follow suit, online ad' revenue on news websites is declining, there's far more value in data of subscribers from a subscription service (you'd be amazed at the amount of people that do not "tick the box" to stop their information being shared) timesonline subscibers - due to their high demographic profile - would be of very high value to direct response advertising. Expect other publishers to follow suit - love him or hate him where Murdoch leads others follow. He's already lobbying for the BBC to curb their online content, although mainly it effects local press more than national.
  4. Not had a season ticket in the past 5 years, nows the time to put up or shut up though and i'll be persuading a few mates to join me into getting ST's.
  5. Just to clear up "smoke bomb gate" I can 100% confirm it was lit & thrown by a lad about a third of the way up in the Burnley end. I know cos I was on the pitch and watched him do it, it subsequently landed near me and was quickly picked up and thrown back.
  6. Here we go... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/jeremy_clarkson/ "Trying to break the speed limit in this car would be like trying to break the speed limit while riding a cow, says Jeremy Clarkson"
  7. No mate, has a regular column in The Sunday Times (ironically to alot of people on here he always slates Mail and Telegraph readers in it) - does a new car review every week (quality, NO other newspaper allows a columnist to openly pan new cars, everyone else panders to advertisers) and a lifestyle piece where he rants about chavs or takes the **** about someone or other (his piece a few weeks ago about Ex-Pats was awesone). Not sure about the Sun, think he's still in there on a Saturday, only read it during the week.
