  1. She was not paid a penny, these comments were willingly given to a Sun reporter. Apparantly a genuine nut job.
  2. I will never personally book with BA long haul again following these strikes. Absolutely stupid reason to strike, I work in the private sector and in the last 2 years we have lost 30% of our head count and those that have remained have not had a pay cut. I work for an organisation bigger than BA, not a small/ medium sized business. However, I havn't complained, I've got on with my job and adapted - the alternative is simple, take redundancy (or be forced to), leave and find another job in the middle of a huge recession. No thansk, I appreciate my company is losing money and needs to cut it's cloth to return to profitability and I and my colleagues need to play our part. My companies internal travel department now book all trans-atlantic flights to and from our Head Office in New York through Virgin rather than BA due to these strikes.
  3. Can't help digging at the Echo can he? Oh well, at least (it seems) Pardew is staying.
  4. I hope for his sakes he hasn't! That picture is no where near convincing, absolutely no way the cps could pin that image on anyone without an admission....
  5. Sky+ HD is my favourite direct debit. I'd drive to Middlesex every month, wrap it in a bow and hand it to them in person if they asked. Virgin is for losers.
  6. To be honest I think it's fair to say Bournemouth is a far nicer town, leafy seaside place compared to our proud but bombed out Port City - hence why so many pensioners like to retire there! Just looking at, for example, % of people that live in Council Houses and local demographics(from the 2001 cencus) So'ton - Total Population = 218k, 19.1% council houses and 37% social grade ABC1 Bournemouth - Total Population = 165k, 6.7% council houses and 48% social grade ABC1 P*mpey = Total Population = 187k, 13.3% council houses and 45% social grade ABC1
  7. Yep, deffo part right that Murdoch only ever backs winners. Believe me though, Brown, Mandleson etc will have been absolutely gutted when he backed the Tories after Months of campaigning. At the World Economic Forum in Davos last year Mandleson was made to wait in line for over an hour to have an audience with RM (who was Chairing the conference) as a last minute pitch at getting him onside. Love the guy or hate him (and a lot of people do) that's real power.
  8. Personally I'm dead against that. I'll vote for who suits me and my family, not some jobless sponger who wants to milk the system! If I end up unemployed I expect a safety net of say 3 months dole, but after that I'd expect to be on my own.
  9. After reading yesterday's Echo's piece about 15 "craaaazy" Saints fans dressing up as "red and white smurfs and smurfettes" I feel thoroughly inspired. "Hot dogs, sausage rolls, come on Saints, score some goals"!!!!
  10. Personally hate the "we are the northam/ kingsland/ itchen" when we are a goal up hanging on by a thread! Oh, and err, Barnard isn't short and despite being a quality L1 player - isn't fit to lace Frank "20 Prem goals a season gauranteed" Lampard's boots. And whilst I'm making a point, the "la la la, la la la...f*** off" song is a lazy copy of Leeds original they used to sing at us at The Dell, which instead of the Pompey favourite "la la la" actually had words (albeit, not a lot of them) "time to go, time to go..." and was sung when fans of the other side were leaving early.
  11. The Mail are owned by Associated Newspapers, The Echo are owned ny Newsquest (who's parent company is Gannet). No connection at all. The "lazy", "shoddy" Martin Samuel is so lazy/ shoddy it's a wonder he won Sports Writer of The Year in 2002, 05, 06 and 08 and is the country's highest paid sports writer working for the 2nd most read daily newspaper in Britain (personally I don't I'm a Times man but heh ho, you have to admit it's a powerful medium) with over 5 million readers every day.
  12. Errr, the columnist is Martin Samuel, who absolutely detested Lowe and was glowing about Saints fans giving us huge sympathy for a number of years. Sorry, can't just fob it off with "must be a load of rubbish as it's in the mail" his time. Lowe actually sued Samuel and The Times over a piece where MS slammed Lowe's treatment of Dave Jones.
  13. Yeah lets blame Samuel, Sports Journalist of the year 2002/ 05/ 06/ 08 and after being headhunted from The Times last year the highest paid sports columnist (note the word columnist, they comment on things that have happened or predict future events, they do not interview so don't blame that for the lack of new or "rehashing" of old quotes) in the UK. Jesus.... Oh, also the Sports department of any national newspaper is completely independent from the news desk with regards editorial content. Paul Dacre at The Mail (whos journalistic stance I hate) let's their Sports editor function on his own. Otherwise they'd never get any interviews/ scoops!
  14. Too right too, especially when it comes to having a go at the Skates - "loose lips sink ships".
  15. Final is July 11th - (very optimistically) booked the 12th off just in case!!! Love Saints but England winning the World Cup would be massive for the country as a whole (as winning the FA Cup would be for the City of Southampton). I'm a pround Englishman, but during the World Cup the amount of non football blokes that take their birds to the pub, paint their face, buy the shirt and generally jump around like over excited screaming retards sums up a lot of what makes me despair for modern "footy". Still takes nothing away from being a pround England fan and having a memory that will stay with me for live ala those that can remember '66. I'll be watching every game at home on 47 inches of HD away from the face painted screamers.
  16. Just looked at that link and have to say I'm just as impressed by their support as before, baring in mind it was during a period up sustained dominence by Liverpool/ Everton. They were very well supported getting more than any other club in the country in 8 out of 10 seasons (back above Liverpool in 90/91 to 43k average and there ever since - admittedly maybe helped by winning the Cup in 1990?) Look, I'm no big fan of plastic mancs, I've met/ worked with a fair few over the years! I'm just saying that since the history of football began they've attracted incredible local support - which is backed up by the fact they have more Season Ticket holders from Manchester as a % than we did from Southampton when we were last in the Prem. With 76k now at OT they will get plenty of "tourists" and "daytrippers" which, from knowing a few of them, ****es off local Mancs massively! Surely no one can deny their away support is incredible? (arrogent, annoying and close to the mark "Argentina, Argentina" etc but fair play to em, they can back it up everytime and they always get a bite).
  17. Eh? Were Sky around when they were the 1st English club to win the European Cup? Can't believe the petty jealousy around United, you could certainly apply similar logic to Newcastle and Chelsea re post Sky/ success attendences but you don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to United. The reason they wern't getting 76k 5/10/15/20 years ago is because their ground couldn't fit that many in, they have sold out on a regular basis for decades - mainly (as stated above) to locals too at reasonable prices. Going back to the 60's their away support has been huge all over the country (again, the vast majority of their travelling support are ST holders from Manchester - despite the incredilbly original "do you come from Manchester" chants they get everywhere they go). I first went to OT around 92/93 (I think, happy to stand corrected if anyone remembers the game) we went 1nil up through Banger and Giggs scored 2 goals that had a hint of offside about them! This was before Sky etc and the ground was well and truely sold out that day. I've seen Saints up there 4/5 times since and despite us being one of the least glamourous games of the season for a Club like Man u they never failed to sell out.
  18. People can say what they like about United but their fans certainly know how to protest! Think it looks superb as it allows the "silent majority" to protest, has got huge amounts of media attention too. Also, a couple of things. The most recent survey into Premier League fans showed Man U had the highest % of ST holders who came from within 10 miles of the ground. Anyone who spends any time in or around Manchester will vouch for the quality of their local support. Easily the most vocal fans I've seen at St Marys too, loads of different songs and full of "lads" in the away end. Acted like complete c*nts outside the ground after the relegation game though!!!!
  19. Not at my company (large multi national PLC). I have to hand in itemised receipts for everything - no itemised receipt = no expenses. Got an email yesterday saying all business train fares (goes without saying we economy class) under £100 must be paid for upfront by ourselves now and claimed back. This saves the £3 booking fee incurred by our in house travel company. This is how us in the private (I still count BA as public due to the superb benefits some of their staff still receive from its bloated former public sector ownership) operate, every £1 counts and must be accounted for. I'm compoletely comfortible with that, don't see why BA workers et al aren't/ wouldn't be?
  20. They should be happy just to have a job working in a declining industry during the worst recession in a generation. No sympathy from me, striking is so outdated now it's ridiculous. They need to realise that nowadays people are not brand loyal any more, people use the internet to shop around for the cheapest and most reliable deal they can get. Virgin and other competitors will increase their market share considerably and BA will go out of business.
  21. Ha, very true. Came across as a little "simple" to me, but heh, England Legend and all that! Also funny was walking past Dennis Wise on the way to the toilets in the foyer, he was talking hands free into a bluetooth headset with his mobile in one hand (hate ****s that do that) ranting to someone that they were a "mug" and he'd "do them up". Proper angry little man is Wisey!
  22. I've done corporate at Wembley twice for England games and it's excellent. Good sized boxes with top food and obviously unlimited alcohol (which at £5 a pint and queues elsewhere is enough reason alone for most). Nice touches like Bet Fred girl comes in and places any bets you want to make etc, plus Tony Adams came and had a chat with us last time I was there (one clueless c*nt I was with offered him a beer ffs). Seats are amazing too. I'm taking the box again for the JPT Final - Prawn Sandwich me up mush!
  23. Absolute toilet.
