You've moved the goalposts there fella. 17x £30k vs 1x £1m. I was basing all my arithmatic on the original statement from aintforever that said: Obviously he was a decimal point out (500 instead of 50) and missed a comma (1000,000 instead of 1,000,000) but he is clearly comparing £20k workers to a £1m worker. I merely stated that it is a mathematical impossibility due to the higher earner paying far more in tax so cannot compete in terms of expenditure. -

That is completely made up. Even if it wasn't, what is the definaition of more money than you'll ever need? £1m, £1b, what? High net worth individuals buy cars, restaurant meals, holidays (when they have time), clothes, a nanny, a gardener, extentions on their houses, a new house, new bathrooms/ kitchens, in home entertainment etc. All of the above keep "normal" earners in jobs. Or don't you realise that? -

What is it then? I used the government's own tax calculator that included NI. I also rated the pension contributions at £0 for both. As for high earners tax breaks, a banker at (for arguements sake) JPM gets none of what you've listed? -

I'm not the one that works there - merely a simpleton that presumed that only RBS, lloyds, Halifax and Northern Rock were bailed out by us. -

No I don't get that. Please explain how the 500 people make up that £277,489.60 using VAT, NI (I included NI in my net numbers using the governments own tax calculator) and pension tax relief? -

Should have no problem paying it back: 2007 net profit = $15,365 2008 net profit = $5,605 2009 net profit = $11,728 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPMorgan_Chase -

But it's a mathematical impossibility, or don't you get that? 500 people earning £20k a year pay get £15,724.20 in net earnings. x500 = £786,210 1 person earning £1m nets £508,720.40 That means the 1 person earning not only phyiscally cannot buy the same amount in goods and services, but he/ she also pays £277,489.60 extra to the tax man. -

So Richard Branson isn't a wealth creator no? If he didn't come along people would just spend their money elsewhere? Are you saying there should be no competition in any market place? What on earth is your alternative? The Army aside - you can't put a price on those boys bravery - my mate works FAR harder than nurses and teachers that I know. Way longer hours, far more stress, no family time and extremely complicated work that requires top end education/ learning. No such thing as a wealth creator? -

That's correct because the 1 person working hard enough to earn £1,000,000 get's taxed 50% on 90% of his/ her earnings. Do you honestly think there is a single person in this country that earns £20,000 a year that works as hard as a banker that earns £1m? My mate that works for JPM doesn't earn a million, he earns about half that but works far, far harder than any teacher, salesman, welder, tyre fitter, nurse, spark, gym instructor etc that I know and is far far more intelligent. Swap jobs with a banker/ entrapeneur/ wealth creator for a month and see if you can hack it or, alternatively, your just one of us that works pretty hard and enjoys the NHS, Education system, Police Force, Ary etc that is paid for from the taxes of those that put the hours in and earn big money and pay big taxes. -
The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC

Personally I'm embarrassed but not suprised by the lack of solidarity amongst our supporters. "I'm alright jack", what if it happended to you or one of your mates (if you've got any which I doubt by the joyless, antaganistic sellfish responses on here) eh? As far as fellow saints fans are concerned - "one in all in" I say! -
I agree, was at the back of block 3 and it was pretty rubbish to be fair. Was in the same place for the Pompey game and it was probably the best atmosphere I've experienced at SMS - pure hatred, brilliant!

The Sun Tickets for £9.50 Offer More than one club not included
JackanorySFC replied to adysaint's topic in The Saints
Thats obviously important to Cortese as he travelled to Wapping to meet the Sun's Sports editor Neil Dunn requesting we stopped calling us "Southa Coast Club" etc. NC lifted the photographe ban and thus conceeded defeat tothe world's highest read english language newspaper - a battle that he wasnever going to win (despite the snobs on here relishing the opportunity to slag off the 8m daily Sun readers, that actually include more ABC1 demographic readers tn The Times, Guardian and Telegraph combined). -
Did you lisen to the interview? Thought Keys came across very articulate and has univesal respect in broadcasting for never making mistakes and being ultra professional. Gray completely changed the face of punditry. Do you agree with Gray having his home phoned tapped by a newspaper? Can't see how you can say they are **** wits? Have you never said anything remotely sexist as a flippant remark to a friend or work colleague? Those in glass houses... I've seen and heard far far worse than that! 2 sides to every story and I thought Keys put his accross very well today - also gave up a pay off and his dream job (which he would have kept if he kept schtum) by resigning. A far better and honourable man than the "football" people that he deals with that will wait forever to get a pay off before leaving a job.
-
I think thats exactly why. When you step back and look at what was said, it is a complete over reaction. Those in glass houses etc....
-
Very interesting point that - and journo's/ presenters etc he knows too.... those in glass houses etc. I agree, to be fair listening to the "other" side of the arguement has changed my opinion. Came accross as sincere and apologetic.
-
Sats he gave a leg up to most of the female presenters at Sky and has had their support and the support of their parents. Also helped Alan Shearer and Hanson. Re the video clip "charlotte can handle herself, but it doesn't make it right". Says a fact of life is people complain more than gives thanks so more opinions on him will be heard. Apologises again. Says how can he say he's sorry without it being misconstrude as whyning?
-
Asked again about "Darm Forces", replies "stitched up" is a good way of looking at it, even things he's saying now can be changed by what he's saing, different media outlets will use his words to get a different angle, people will ask why he's used Talksport (he's never had a column or done a radio interview before in 20 years), says he has to come out and say something (I've got a feeling he's deffo leaving Sky), he apologises for Sean Massey again (obviously doesnt feel the same towards Brady). Asked if hes arrogant replies thats for others to decide, always had confidence in their product, feels they do the best and lets others decide that, has never saught the limelight, he's not a celebrity presenter and says its the best job in the world. Deserves to get a pasting, 2 sides to every story as we live in a democracy and feels only 1 side has been heard. Has 500 messages from friends on his phone of support - stresses that's their view and people are allowed opinions. Not proud of what happened at the weekend but "with success comes envy". Sorry for doing it, it was wrong, not sorry for being caught. Almost certain that people are looking through old tapes for more damaging footage, H&J implying people at Sky are obviously behind it - Keys has a view but can't name names. Statement from Gray released this minute, he wanted to apologise on air on Monday. Football is his life and he's devastated. Keys relating this to invasion of privacy - ie phone tapping! If off air convos at radio stations, tv, work places were made public no-one would be working anymore, says to H&J "you know that". Good point.
-
Keys on talksport now - admits he was completely wrong, said he called the lineswonam straight after and apologised but Sky refused to release that info. Also implys he was stitched up, says people like Rio that said the banter was old fashioned and unwelcome in the modern world and responded saying he knows for a fact that worse goes on in their dressing room. Tried to call Karen Brady twice and text her with no response, stands by Karen Brady using sexist crd for sympathy in his original transcript. Says he should really be fired too if Grey has. Asking himself if he wants to carry on without him. To be fair he's coming across well - this arguement needs to hear both sides. Admits his "prehistoric banter" is unacceptible, one of the reasons he has this banter is because he does things differently, Sky has always been relaxed compared to BBC and other media, he has always used banter to calm guests which is why their analysis is always reflective and wins awards compared to competitors. Says "Dark Forces" are leaking info, feels reaction is "extraordinary", he can only apologise but can't beleive the frenzy that has blown up. Feels if his apology was released on Sunday it wouldn't have snowballed but that was not allowed. H&J (the presenters) pressing tone was offensive, RK replies he apologises and Sky isn't sexist organisation but it's something left over from an era where they had to make a fuss to make themselves known "many people drinking from the well they created at Sky". Won't cmment on is someone at Sky after him as wouldn't be released without some sort of vendetta. Ad break now.

The Kings Head pub in the Square, ccording to a recent survey, is one of the top 50 pubs in the country. Easily the best Pub I've been to in Hants for food (makes the Chilworth Arms look very ordnary), not cheap but class. Nice Village, Missus wants to move there, however due to being in an PO postcode she's lucky that I buy her dinner there! Don't go to Greens - Crap. Wine Bar's decent though and Kuti's is - well Kuti's, can't go wrong!
-
Claridge is absolutely spot on in everything he's said there - still a 'orrible skate **** though!

Same here, about 10-15 times, then it rang and rang fro ages, before going on hold, then ringing again for ages before matey answered. Loads of tickets left in block 3 for the United game. Block 4 sold out.

Eh? What taxes of yours or mine bailed out JPMorgan? Only RBS and Lloyds were bailed out - I love the way everyone blames ALL bankers when the vast, vast majority are creating massive wealth for their companies, clients, shareholders and themselves.
