Jesus, 10% of 80%, off the top of my head that's 2400 (ish) potential customers for my start up business selling Santa hats.

Pretty certain the fair weather block 43 lot that are guaranteed to be on MOTD if a goals scored at that end, will be "father christmased up" all the way! I will just look down and shake my head surrounded by the well dressed masses at the back of block 2/ 3 (minus the rather scruffy and permanently boozed up group of 50 year olds that wear 70's replica shirts whatever the weather/ temperature).

Interesting that despite being either the same or very similar in terms of age I'm yet to see us described as a young side? Maybe just missed it? Personally really like the emphasis on young, hungry players with something to prove and not too old to adapt to different systems/ styles of play etc. Hopefully means we can only get better, have to keep hold of gems like Lallana, Clyne, Shaw and Gaston though.

Over the last few weeks I've noticed more in newspaper reports, radio show, MOTD and on Podcasts that people in the game are incredibly enthusiastic about Paul Lambert's Kids and their brave approach to football, how they've turned a corner and are offering "another way" in terms of approaching the Prem. Their average age is apparently 23.4. I was wondering if anyone with more time/ better access to our players profiles could tot up our average as I'm pretty sure we are of a similar average age, certainly play a more expansive game and only a few points behind Villa yet no one mentions us in this bracket, not even for comparison? Is so I'll send an "outraged" email to the Game, Guardian football weekly and the Football Ramble podcasts

LOL! Desperate, properly desperate.... Bet you threw your cup of tea at the tele last night when Dispatches was on "no, no, no, the nasty Tory said Pleb, he must have, sack him, ruin his career and reputation - he's a MP so is not allowed to complain about his name being slandered as he's an MP and they are all liars, well Tory ones anyway, Tory MPs hate me, they hate everyone, Thatcher hated this country, hate hate hate..."
-
Was a copper that gave that account to the Sun. How is that the Sun's fault? He went to the Sun because they are the biggest newspaper in terms of readers than any other by a mile! The lefty's desperation to see a Tory stitched up is a shocking example of class snobbery. So many vehemently slagging Mitchell off and expressing faux outrage at the word "Pleb" ffs now desperately scrabbling to the fact he swore as reason enough to destroy a cabinet Minister's career. Pathetic. I get so angry with morons (from either left or right) that use blind political partisanship to justify their prejudices - so many Lefties would never vote for Tories even if Cameron offered them a seat on the cabinet and an entry in their manifesto, purely cos they are "Tory scum, blah blah blah". I've voted for both labour and conservative, that's because I look at who will benefit me, my family and my country most at the time. Not because of something f***ing Thatcher did 30 years ago. Grow up you nutters and admit you made a mistake and jumped the gun. Not the end of the World, we all f*** up a lot and make the wrong call, I certainly have. Embarrassing.

Bang on, he genuinely comes across as a bit simple - having worked on national papers for nearly a decade (and our own Echo for a couple of years beforehand) I don't have the first clue how he ever got a job as a Sports journo, he's shocking and down right unprofessional. The other guys on the News (I begrudgingly admit) are decent local journos that do all right and keep a good balance. Like most people that love their football I follow a lot of the Times/ DT/ Guardian (and a few of the decent tabloid guys like John Cross) sports jounos on twitter. Owen Slot, Henry Winter, Paddy Barclay etc, they always keep their objectivity and offer unbiased quality opinion. Allen will never end up anywhere near that level.

Neil Allen is a complete c***. He blocked me after the derby game, he tweeted he wasn't allowed in, I replied that was a good thing, 1 less Pompey fan that might boo any potential minutes silence. He retweeted and I got death threats etc. I asked NA to condemn the death threats and the guy that wanted my Mum to get AIDS etc but he refused to, arguing that he has no control over what they say. Yeah, but they shouldn't issue death threats eh Neil? His response was to block me. I can guarantee anyone he will never work for a National. As he condones skates verbally assaulting Chanrai's brother in the High Court, his laid back attitude clearly means he won't have a problem when he comes face to face with me one day.

I used to do this in my old local (Fountain, Hedge End). Every Friday I'd give the bar lady, Eileen (Hampshire's oldest at one point and not one for taking any s***), a tenner and in December cash out the £500. She used to earn the interest on the money on the proviso she wouldn't let p*ss heads like me and the other regulars in there, anywhere near our money til Christmas. Worked pretty well actually. She would have between £15k & £20k by the end of the year so probably did well out of it back then (10 - 13 years ago) as banks actually paid interest then.

As for Chelsea, their "traditional" support comes from the rather more punchy parts of Surrey. Leatherhead, Feltham etc. Surbiton for example is a massive Chelsea area. Only post Abramovich have the Weybidge etc areas of Surrey come out the woodwork. Same as a lot of Spurs support comes from Herts, and West Ham Essex etc.

True, when working in London most thought of Southampton as a working class, Port City that was a little backwards. I took a load down for a weekend in Bournemouth Fri, then Southampton Sat. They were shocked at how different both cities were - especially the lad from Bermondsey that asked: "where's ya beach fella, it's all cranes and ships - I want sand if I'm at the coast". Didn't have the ehart to send him to Weston Shore... Basically the City of Southampton itself is a proudly Labour voting, working class place basically made up of Council Estates and terraced houses that avoided ze Germans and/ or 60's slum clearance along with Bitterne, Bassett and parts of "Upper" Shirley thrown in. The areas around it like Hamble to the east, New Forest to the west and Winch to the north are all pretty affluent and that's where a lot of our support comes from. A reason why I think where we are is such a quality place to live.

He is to us. Up the f***ing Saints! Agree?

Trust no one fella....

How you you know Andy from "Bassett"? I say that's a load of s***, they had plenty of chances to do that before but didn't bother/ couldn't organise it.

Seems Portpin know the score, PKF and PST look like a right bunch of chancers lol!

I'm just enjoying that clown Allen getting massively out scooped by the BBC . Sucking up to the trust clearly hasn't helped him, they have been left well out of the loop with the important decisions!
-
You are a nutter. However, despite assuming this is a wind up I'll just start with the bit in bold. So far (at the ripe old age of 25) he's won: 5X La Liga 5X Spanish Super Cup 2X Copa Del Ray 2X FIFA World Club Championship 2X UEFA Supercup 3X Champions League 1X Olympic Gold That doesn't include his golden boots/ Ballon d'Ors or at the fact he's top scored in the Champions League for 4 seasons in a row. I assume that Man U with RVP will break this run as they are so good and presumably can do it on a cold Monday night in Stoke though lol!
-
Couple of things - I disagree that Theo hasn't progressed at Arsenal. If Arsenal are mental enough to sell him every big club in Europe will be interested, he performs well in Europe, is a starter for England (when fit) and his assists went a long way towards helping RVP get the golden boot last season and his finishing has improved massively. I admire Arsenal's prudish approach to finances but Theo clearly wants to stay and he's definitely worth £80k a week. As for Ox, I genuinely wasn't bothered when we sold him. Some nutters on here were comparing him to Theo and saying he was the better player at the same age, forgetting Theo was our best player by a mile at 16 and was scaring Championship defenders every time he played. Ox had done pretty well against League 1 defenders but I didn't think he stood out as clearly as Theo (in a lower division). Personally I'd rather have Gaston based on what I've seen this season and what I saw at Bologna last season. Time will tell though.

When I was about 22 and wet behind the ears, I flew to a stag do in Newcastle via Stansted as I didn't drive and it was cheap. What a moron. The only good thing was the stag's best man was head of security for Babyshambles and Pete Docherty was there with us. Nutter, proper entertainment and knew/ knows his football from what I remember.

Just checked, and the actual ratio is 1800 standing to every 1000 sitting. How many seats in the Chapel for example, 5000? That would become 9000 standing and would make a serious racket if sold out!
-
You can get roughly 3 people standing to every 2 seats in the current safe standing system used in Germany. Terracing did not kill the 96 at Hillsborough, a mixture of poor policing and fans being penned in like animals behind 8ft fences killed the 96. It allows German clubs like Hamburg, Dortmand and Shalke to charge standing fans far less and ensure future generations get access to the ground at an accessible rate before they get fat and bald and decide they want a quiet life in the seats and pay more for the privilege. I would personally like to see the entire Chapel end as Safe Standing, I believe Cortese has said before he wants an "end" of home support, and with potentially more paying fans coming in you'd hope he'd support it. Actually worth lobbying for us to support this really. Absolute no brainer.
-
Seems like we have a strong side out, a family friend I know is playing and it seems the "big guns" from the U21 squad are being brought in tonight vs Everton. £5 on the gate (£3 concessions). I've watched us a few times in the youth cup, always a decent night and an opportunity to see some future talent.
-
I'd honestly rather go down with Adkins playing our good football than stay up with Pulis/ Allerdice hoofball. He's earned the right to be backed long term. I'm old fashioned though.
