I would have thought when people speak of Cortese making footballing/transfer decisions would it not actually be Les Reed who does this? Surely that was what he was appointed to the board to do as Director of Football/Development/Cones etc?
I am no fan of Cortese (well not now that's for sure!) but surely he knows where his strengths are (finance/strategy/megalomania etc) and this is why he (unfortunately) employed LR in the first place? A man who as we all likely know has previously been voted "the worst manager in premier league history", and if I'm not mistaken is someone who has a track record of screwing up pretty much every other club/organisation he has ever been involved with??
I think Cortese is being blamed incorrectly - in the sense that people think he thinks he knows football better than someone like NA or even LR and that this is behind the bizarre NA decision? Instead, I think he should be blamed for appointing LR in the first place and I wouldn't mind betting that his appointment was the point at which the trouble really started for NA. Purely a guess of course but I would love to hear other's thoughts on this......
