1. I used to like it when this thread included a list of rumoured deals with updates added regularly. With that in mind I decided last night to put together a summary of all the rumoured deals/negotiations that I had seen mentioned on here recently. It looks as if others have had a similar idea, but thought I would post mine nonetheless, especially as it includes a few possible deals that haven't been mentioned in the last couple of days. So, here is my summary: Potential Purchases/loans

[th]Player[/th] [th]Current Club[/th] [th]Position[/th] [th]Age[/th] [th]Terms/Cost[/th] [th]Link(s)[/th]

Jean-Clair Todibo Barcelona CB/FB/WB 19 Loan https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/08/04/report-southampton-want-barcelona-defender-jean-clair-todibo

Benoit Badiashile AS Monaco CB 18 €30M https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2019/southampton-have-entered-the-race-for-monaco-defender-benoit-badiashile

Ruben Aguilar Montpellier RB 26 €5-10M https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2019/southampton-brighton-crystal-palace-enter-race-for-montpellier-right-back-ruben-aguilar https://onefootball.com/en/news/southampton-identify-montpellier-defender-as-potential-target-en-26576340

Josip Vukovic Maritimo Midfield 27 £1.5M https://talksport.com/football/580359/transfer-news-southampton-aston-villa-leeds-united-josip-vukovic

Alexis Claude-Maurice L’Orient Winger 21 £11M+ https://onefootball.com/en/news/nice-and-southampton-lead-race-for-lorient-winger-en-26559219 https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/07/31/report-southampton-lead-west-ham-in-alexis-claude-maurice-race

Scott Banks Dundee Utd Winger 17 £400k https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/crystal-palace-chase-scott-banks-18820073

Diamond Edwards Reading AM 16 “Substantial” fee https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-southampton-agree-to-sign-attacker-for-significant-fee

Potential Sales/loans out

[th]Player[/th] [th]Interested Club(s)[/th] [th]Terms/cost[/th] [th]Link[/th]

Mario Lemina Wolves, Everton 1 yr Loan + purchase https://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/wolves-in-advanced-talks-with-southampton-for-mario-lemina-4291549

Charlie Austin Newcastle Utd ? https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11775184/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-close-to-agreeing-fee-for-nice-winger

Guido Carillo Boca Juniors ? https://readsouthampton.com/2019/08/01/boca-juniors-continue-to-pursue-carrillo-a-sensible-move-for-everyone

Cedric AS Monaco ? https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2019/as-monaco-shortlist-cedric-soares-southampton-william-carvalho-real-betis

Soufiane Boufal OGC Nice ? https://readsouthampton.com/2019/08/01/nice-are-pushing-for-boufal-but-could-southampton-now-be-tempted-to-keep-him

Fraser Forster Liverpool ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7306479

Obviously many of these are not going to happen but it gives something to keep an eye on. The Fraser Forster move already looked highly questionable and the fact that Liverpool have just signed a reserve keeper makes it seem even more unlikely. I haven't bothered to add in unsubstantiated rumours from posters on this forum, but that is not to say they won't happen. Make of them what you will based on your own experience of Cabbage_Face, Unbelievable Jeff, etc. My feeling is that the most likely move is that Lemina will go on loan to Wolves with a compulsory purchase contract for next year.
 2. OK performance against a weak Koln team who will struggle in the Bundesliga - especially in respect to goal scoring. Best player: Adams - by a mile. Other performances: Gunn and Valery did well; Bertrand was ok; Hojbjerg mixed; Ward- Prowse & Redmond both had what I would call subdued performances; central defence was poor at times with some kamikaze defending - we were lucky that their strikers could not hit a barn door with a banjo!! Finally... Ings was great at times and not so good at others while none of the substitutes showed anything much (though Yoshida did ok). Djneppo is clearly very raw and needs time to develop. He was a bit like a headless chicken to be honest!! Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
 3. I'm not sure if this has been posted but just seen it, so thought I'd share it: https://onefootball.com/cms/en/26559219 It would seem unlikely to me that we would want to sell Boufal to buy another winger and not to buy a centre back but that's what is being claimed here and in various other places. My guess is that our name is just being used to inflate the price for West Ham or other potential buyers, but we shall see!! Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
 4. Maybe this represents something of a change in approach to loaning out players? Loaning them out to Championship or League 1 teams hasn't always worked. So many of our players have ended up sitting on the bench and getting less experience instead of more. At least loaning them out at that level has a better chance if gaining them a regular starting spot which may then lead to interest at a higher level with the hope of quickly becoming a starter at that level too. 5. I think you have confused the words 'general' and 'specific' and those words define exactly why both those new threads are appropriate... The transfer thread is a general thread covering all discussions about rumoured Saints transfers in or out. Meanwhile, there are a number of other more specific threads on specific aspects of Saints transfer business: * Discussion about Boufal * Discussion about Lemina * Discussion about ITK posters * Discussion about potential CBs we may sign ...and so on... Now it may be that the admins feel that none of these subjects should be discussed separately. They may decide to force us to only be able to discuss these topics in one big, unwieldy, complicated-to-navigate, general thread or they may wisely recognise that there needs to be some variety of threads as long as we don't have a load of threads all discussing the same specific topic. Personally I trust the admins to recognise the difference between a specific thread and a general one; and to be able to distinguish between those more specific threads that are significantly different and those that are too similar and which should therefore be merged. So my question is... What is your problem? Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
 6. So, it's getting frustrating wanting to hear that gem of a rumour about our next star signing!! The summer transfer thread is just full of waffle and there is not a sign of anyone who is ITK assuring us that Saints are in advanced negotiations to sign a new player!! Where are all the apparently genuine ITKers this year?

 8. Bearing in mind the numbers could have been upside down... 12 might be 21 = Ryan Bertrand OR 51 = Tyreke Johnson 34 could be 43 = Yan Valery OR 28 Angus Gunn (if the 8 looks like a 3!)
 9. Hahaha! That would get a few laughs if you could get people to sing it! LOL
 10. That seems a bit of an odd thing to do... Why would we sign James Ward-Prowse for £23million when we already own him?
 11. I like that - definitely a good one and the sort of song that could be sung! Excellent! I don't know - why do you find it cringeworthy? Is it cos you like to be quiet in the ground - you would like St Mary's to be a library? Is it cos you are boring? Is it because you don't like music? Is it because you can't think of decent words yourself? Or is it because you are a purist and expect every suggestion to have been carefully analysed and researched before being posted up so that only the best ever appear on here? A better question.. if you find posts about songs so cringeworthy, why on earth did you open this post up and read it? Are you an idiot? Or maybe a troll? Or do you have a inate desire to make yourself cringe? Are you a sadist perhaps? If you don't like posts like this why not live and let live instead of moaning about those who happen to enjoy discussing this sort of stuff? Just move along and get a life for goodness sake! Sorry to be confrontational, but it's just so anoying that some fans are so sad that they have to turn even the most simple thing into a reason to pick a fight!
 12. With several younger players getting a chance to shine in the friendlky in Austria and with Che Adams having recently signed, it occured to me that some of these players are going to need their own songs. It would also be great if we could have some songs that are not just knock-offs of the same old songs (often first used by Man Utd fans!). Why on earth do we have to keep copying them??! Nevertheless, I'm sure most songs will continue to be repeats of the same old things...! One player for whom it seems pretty obvious what song should be used to sing about him is Dan N'Lundulu. That song is of course 'Vindaloo' by Fat Les: N'Lundulu... N'Lundulu... N'Lundulu, N'Lundulu, Na, Na! N'Lundulu... N'Lundulu... N'Lundulu, N'Lundulu, Na, Na! N'Lundulu... N'Lundulu... His name's Dan N'Lundulu! He's gonna score one more than you! If we wanted to throw in a verse too, then maybe it would go something like this: Me, my mum, my dad and my mates had a great St Mary's view: Me, my mum, my dad and my mates and a goal from N'Lundulu! More urgently, we could do with a song for Che Adams. How about this based on Coldplay's Clocks?... (if you don't know it check it out here: ) Instrumental: Che Adams, Che Adams, Che Adams, Che Adams...! Che Adams, Che Adams, Che Adams, Che Adams..! (repeat a few times) Verse: Shots go in and they can't be saved, And a goal is scored by that man called Che. Adams scores, slides down on his knees, The crowd goes wild and shout and scream, singing We are Saints and we're marching in, Che Adams up front with Danny Ings * He sco-o-ores, Che A-adams! He sco-o-ores, Che A-adams! (NB I have missed out a bit of the verse there* but the tune repeats and I don't think we need to make it too long as football fans don't like too many words!) So what do you think? What other suggestions do people have for songs for new players or emerging talent? What about Jake Vokins fort example..? PS I know we will rarely ever see any of these suggested songs ending up on the terraces but it's just a bit of fun and you never know... maybe sometime someone WILL pick up a song from Saints Web and start singing it at a match!
 13. Surprised no one has mentioned Sam McQueen! If Targett is sold then surely McQueen becomes the automatic reserve left back? That saves Vokins from the pressure of expecting to come in if Betrand is injured but also gives him the incentive to try and challenge McQueen first before he is expected to challenge Bertrand. Personally, I have always preferred McQueen to Targett, though I think Targett has shown some promise at times when used in the last couple of years. Admittedly, though, McQueen did start out on the left wing and in the past year or two he seems to have reverted to that position. It remains to be seen how Hassenhuttle sees him and whether he rates him at all.
 14. As I have just posted on the other thread where you mentioned this, I would love to get hold of a ticket, so if this is still available could we sort something out? Please email me using thejackos@live.co.uk. Thanks! PS How much are you wanting for it?
 15. Is the ticket still available? I'd love to get a ticket if there is one available. Email me using thejackos@live.co.uk please! Thanks!
 16. We could probably say that for quite a few fixtures! It just goes to show that a full season with Hassenhuttl could see us returning to being a team that is competing for that 'best of the rest' 7th place.
 17. OK... don't take this too seriously but... If we win every one of our remaining games we would have 51 points. Every team from seventh place down has achieved an average of less than one and a half points per game. On that basis winning every game would most likely find us finishing in at least 11th place and possibly higher! If the teams already in the top half of the table keep up their form from the rest of the season we wouldn't catch them and looking at their fixtures it would be quite unlikely (quite aside from the unlikelihood of us winning every match!) but for those that like to look at these things, here are the remaining fixtures of those currently placed between 7th and 10th: Watford: Arsenal (H), Huddersfield (A), Saints (H), Wolves (H), Chelsea (A), West Ham (H) Everton: Man Utd (H), C.Palace (A), Burnley (H), Spurs (A) Wolves: Brighton (H), Arsenal (H), Watford (A), Fulham (H), Liverpool (A) Leicester: West Ham (A), Arsenal (H), Man City (A), Chelsea (H) If we were to catch any of those it would most likely be either Everton or Leicester and their superior goaldifference would also add an extra obstacle!! On a more serious note, how high can we finish? Personally I think we could possibly finish as high as thirteenth and would love it if we could finish above Bournemouth!
 18. Why on earth would you want Lemina gone? I'd far rather see him start to show the potential that we all know he has. As for the strikers, I'm all for seeing them leave - as long as we replace them with better! And if Cedric leaves then I hope we get a good fee for him. In terms of Jack Stephens, I am on the fence - like many I would like to see one of our own academy products develop into a great player and he is still young-ish. However, time is starting to run out for him and with other younger players coming through I wouldn't want to rely on him. Indeed I tend to think we need to invest in at least one good up-and-coming centre back along the lines of Alderweireld and Van Dijk when we signed them. I guess Hoedt was always supposed to be that but I think any hopes of him becoming that player now are long gone. That just leaves: * Forster - he needs to go for his own benefit. * Claise - He is far too far down the pecking order now for us to keep him. He had promise when we signed him but sadly he has never lived up to it. * Boufal - To be honest I think he is better than Elyounoussi, but he has never delivered and is just another in a line of failed expensive foreign wingers. If Hassenhuttl thinks he can get anything out of him then great but otherwise it is best to ship him out. We do need someone else in that position, though, as we have not adequately replaced Tadic.
 19. Hatrick tonight (and still over ten minutes to go as I type that!). I'm pleased for him too and do feel we let him go too early. His altruism is also a breath of fresh air in modern football. Good on him!
 20. So for me the big question is whether the failure to sign anyone is a failure of the club, a failure of Ross Wilson or just simply a lack of availability of the right players at the right place coupled with careful control of club finances? What do you think?
 21. Don't knock him - he did well in the Under 23 match against Middlesbrough two weeks ago and now that Parkes has been sold, presumably Cull moves up the pecking order. I actually had a good chat to his mum after that match. He has come up through the academy alongside a lot of other players who are starting to get noticed now, so who knows what his development might look like in the next few years. Personally I will be chuffed if he doesn't ever get culled but instead goes on to become a great future keeper for us!
 22. So with no announcement yet, is this maybe an indication that the deal could be dependant on Saints replacing him with someone else? Might the delay be so that they can announce the two together?
 23. I've just noticed that it is Callum Chambers 24th birthday today. He played the full 90 minutes for Fulham against Spurs. Not such a happy birthday. He made a big mistake leaving Saints. His career would surely have kept on a much more positive trajecory if he had opted to stay.
 24. I was hoping to go to two Saints tickets in one weekend this weekend, but sadly I missed out on getting a Leicester ticket in time (any offers of a Leicester ticket would be welcomed!). However, I am still going to the second game - Sunday's Academy match between Middlesbrough and Saints, which is being played in Bishop Auckland. It will be the first time I have ever been to see an academy match. Judging by Hassenhuttl's interview I may end up seeing Fraser Forster in goal and I am also wondering whether Ings and Bertrand may get run outs. Anyone any idea whether this may be likely? Anyway, my main purpose in starting this thread is to ask some opinions from those who have been to away academy matches before... * Will I need to buy a ticket in advance? * Will there be segregation between home and away supporting fans? (NB I am going with a Middlesbrough-supporting friend) * How partisan are supporters at these sort of games? In particular, will I be ok wearing a Saints scarf? (it is one of thsoe ones that has home colours on one side and away colours on the other side) Any thoughts/comments/advice will be welcomed. Thanks in advance!
 25. Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. When Hoedt first joined us he did ok considering what was being asked of him in the light of the whole Van Dijk debacle. He showed some potential and was beginning to get selected for the Dutch national squad. Sadly, I think he has been badly coached and managed and that has resulted in him being put under the stress of over-inflated expectations of a kind that must be hard for a young player to cope with. This in turn has resulted in him losing concentration and, no doubt, confidence - even though that may demonstrate itself as arrogance to some. I kind of feel it would be great if the club could undo the failings of his coaching, resulting in us seeing him achieving the potential that he seemed to have when he first joined. However, I recognise that is probably overly-idealistic and that in reality it is probably best both for him and for the club that he moves on now. Hopefully back in his native Holland he can restore some of his potential and begin again to develop into a great defender. I just hope that we don't come up against him in European competition some time in the future and discover him living up to that potential against us!
