  2. Man City aside... What type of tactics did he utilise in Spain and would they suit us now? Man City certainly weren't a high pressing team - they relied on out scoring teams due to their firepower most of the time which we wouldn't be able to get with. Did well with one or two youngsters such as Iheanacho... Maybe he'll fancy a loan move down south
  3. Spurs offering nearly double the wages he is on at Saints Is probably the reason... No other players angling for a move though as far as we know?
  4. Wow and it takes a certain kind of **** to turn on someone for no good reason, back under your bridge you sad troll.
  5. 2 Tickets if there are any going... Can't offer a beer shower but will happily pay! Booked flights and accomodation so far
  6. It has to be done... It's the only time I'll ever be able to go with the misses consent!!
  7. Fingers crossed for a big allocation... Staying Arnhem Thursday and Amsterdam Friday for some victory beers... any one else sticking around for the extra day?
  8. This website is usually pretty reliable: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php
  9. This website is usually pretty reliable and ties in with one of the above posts that he will play for the U21's at the end of the month. Return date 31st January! http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php
  10. Hi Bearsy, I think the best way to think about this is - can you name any players that have had their careers ended in the last 5 years or so at the highest level? I'm not massively knowledgable about the injuries that those players sustained (has Fraizer Campbell ever been good?!) but Owen and Essien both played or are still playing in the latter stages of their careers. I'm sure Owen suffered from a number of Hamstring related issues which over time would have affected his ability to maintain his pace - the main aspect of his game. Del Piero is an interesting one - “How long do I want to play on for? Up to the age of 40. [My physique] changed on November 8, 1998 [Just a day before his 24th birthday, he suffered an ACL tear]. I was out for 12 months, four on crutches. It changed my career and made me a better player. Before it I was a tough guy, fast, technically good, still only on instinct. After I was able to tame it too and am more balanced." Other players currently playing at high levels with this injruy include - Guiseppi Rossi, Jagielka (supposedly fastest defender in PL?!) and Vidic.
  11. This board has some genuine LOL moments - This post along with the 'botched' operation one earlier in this thread are gold. Talk about people with no medical/sports rehab knowledge spouting off conjecture. ACL tears are common within the sporting population and are regularly operated on by NHS Doctors with great success - I therefore find it highly unlikely that Jay's operation with the top knee specialist in the country was botched. In most cases the ACL is re-constructed by grafting muscle fibres of Gracilis and the Hamstrings and inserting in place of the ACL. This can sometimes result in a reduction in power output of these muscles if left without sufficeint rehab - certainly not the case with the rehab team aorund him at Saints. Best case scenario from this type of injury would of been November/December time, I suspect with the team doing as well as it has that they have decided against fast tracking him back and risk subsequent injury. If he has had a further operation then it could be to remove fluid, meniscal issues or a completely unrelated injury sustained during his rehab. My guess - he'll be back to his best at the latter end of this season or at the start of next season - lets hope he is still here!
  12. That's the one ?
  13. Interested in Werder Bremens Giovane Selke according to Di Marzio on Twitter
  14. Any danger of setting up a bed wetting/happy clappers thread so people can ***** and moan at each other there and just keep this one for actual transfer rumours! This thread is mostly dross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Good read and a sensible assessment of the situation. I see us following the ere-divisie style you have mentioned... Buying talent cheaply and young and selling them on for big money and repeating the cycle. Time will tell I guess! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Source? Sure he's meant to be the next big thing... Very cheap if so! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's easy to write him off based on his stint at anti-football west ham! A left wing back with the pace and power he has may suit Koemans 5-3-2 formation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. This would be a good move! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Surely if it was a red/yellow shirt then the whole colour coding of the club would match it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Puma are making some great kits, fingers crossed for next year! The Dortmund one in red and white would be ideal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Anyone know if Osvaldo is back for preseason tomorrow or will he be kept away again until a buyer can be found?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Gutted for him: France Didier Deschamps finally unveils those 23 names we have been waiting for. Goalkeepers: Lloris, Landreau, Mandanda. Defenders: Debuchy, Sagna, Koscielny, Sakho, Varane, Mangala, Digne, Evra. Midfielders: Cabaye, Grenier, Matuidi, Mavuba, Pogba, M. Sissoko, Valbuena Forwards: Benzema, Giroud, Griezmann, Rémy, Ribéry The reserve list includes Southampton's Schneiderlin, Remy Cabella, Gonalons, Lacazette, Perrin, Ruffier and Tremoulinas
  23. Back down to earth with a bump! Nothing incisive about our play, pointless looking pretty in the build up when you have no precision in the final third. Must buy/loan a winger to have a different option when things don't work out with plan A.
  24. Really impressed with Steven Davis today. I don't remember his giving it away once today and produced passes into key areas, he has come on leaps and bounds under pochettino. Having said that, the crowd were awful today, no chants for our team just the usual anti ref, anti Pompey crap. What happened to a good old 'oh when the saints'.
  25. Decided to go today on a whim this morning, got there with a minute to spare and was without the best decision of my Xmas so far. Fantastic away support assisted by the lads on the park keeping the home fans quiet (Christ they were loud when they did go for it!). MOM for me was Jack Cork or Yoshida, both were tireless and tackled well. Great performance, shame it's only a point but onwards and upwards! COYR!
