  1. Far too simplistic. I’m not pretending there was no error but watch it properly and it’s good pressing, ones has reacted and is heading towards where the balk is going before the pass is played. Yes it’s poor in one level but very good play on another and
  2. So the VAR rules are basically any attacking hand contact rules out a goal. Accidental or not. That said he actually handles it before Stephens kicks it. Deliberate or not only he will know butto my mind that first contact is s handball underbold or new rules. The thing about becoming numb to the football is you can see the game for what it is. I hate watching a game where fete is no control at all. Throw ins from wrong place, linesman running up to the line of the ball so the offside free kick is in the right place not the other way around. Sometimes would just like to see a game run properly. Reality is that we are in a real relegation battle. If you can say it then you can’t be surprised by kisses! Teams in relegation battles lose games. Get Romeu in as a shield. Keep the four. Go 4.3.3 and do the best we can. Hope for reinforcements in the winter but don’t expect. Shouted the team and encourage energy and confidence not booing. Inge is a goal scorer in form so we have a chance. We have to accept the realities and keep encouraging
  3. maybe we were considering sacking ralph
  4. i guess its always likely to be a lower league player with a higher number of games played
  5. But that’s Forster as a keeper. It depends on your view but it’s likely that if you’ve played in goal before then you will see being in the position the ball is hit and stopping it houngbin off any old body part as a good save. Looks a bit rough but the 0 at the end of the word Rangers in the shoreline is all that matters. It’s the type if keeping that he did well at with us, he fills the goal and blocks. He had a dodgy moment early on that worked out fine and sometimes it’s those tiny moments that make it break players. I’m glad it’s going well for him, he will never look that pretty in goal but can be a good keeper on one level. If his confidence had state high and he commanded his area he’d be excellent. Hope he continued story go well up there for nothing more than his own sake. Easy to knock his style but when mom in a 1-0 cup win you deserve nothing but praise
  6. all goes to show why refereeing (and VAR) is quite tricky!
  7. his hands are up but thats it- his arms dont really even straighten so it just isnt a push. if its a pen its for having his arms up and its a pretty fair situation to have them up with someone backing in to you. I agree that if he pushes, even if softly then its a pen but i really dont see any movement other than shane diving expecting more of a shove than he got. Yellow card for me. Hes got caught waiting for the touch and it doesnt come like hes expecting it
  8. something is wrong at spurs clearly - if im the owner and the manager keeps making it clear he thinks hes taken the squad as far as he can then its the right time to get rid as the manger not being a driving force is toxic - maybe its not a mad as it at first seems. Great manager maybe not but clearly a very very good manager and deserves a crack at a job at the top level in terms of club and resources - love to se him turn from very good to great in the eyes o the masses. I hate mourinho, find him toxic, but can see why youd go there
  9. absolutely - a stable back unit is a must really all the way up through the leagues - yes injuries happen but our back line is entirely unpredictable (in many ways)
  10. we could just do with slightly more settled approach - theres no confidence inspired to players if they simply dont know if they are going to be playing that week and if so what position. Pick a back 4/5 you like and stick with it- build together. People on the bench/out of the squad know whats required and should work hard. At the moment boufal has looked one of our better outlets and gets dropped - what does that tell everyone. Im worried that it is (as above) part **** squad but part incompetence of management. Need much of a siege mentality that a see what happens mentality.IM not one for knee jerk changes - but i do think a change in overall style is needed in terms of how the group is managed and hopefully the new DoF can stabilise that else we are likely to go down
  11. i get that we dont have the best players for it but if it worked when he first got here some players mustve left such that makes it impossible to not continue in that way? I dont think thats the case
  12. qualified obviously doesnt mean having a qualification. It can of course matter if the person who has changed it has a plan for the club that is different to other peoples plan for the club (eg the new incoming DoF). If first team coaches are moving as is believed and a new dof is involved already then that probably answers the question that was first posed. But clearly just having people with no idea of long term strategy chaning roles in the club becuase someone has done badly here and someone else has done well elsewhere is a really stupid way to manage a club
  13. the thing is that even a donut like me can see that its not working but that doesnt mean im in a good place to appoint the right person to take over. Agree not (like all footy issues) its not worth getting worried about but dont thikn the poster is (in that post) and just pointing out that unless someone qualified makes the next appointment then whats the point
  14. its a very fair point but do think that there can be a good continuity of philosophy provided by recent ex players. People that know the club and buy in to the beliefs and have "been there and done it". It needs to be a bit of a mix though as just ex pros does not beat good coaching you are certainly right
  15. the romantic in me cant help but agree with the sentiment but is he really what we need? I think he would actually be a good assistant manager with Ralph (not expecting he would want to take that position) as his personality would play nicely alongside raplphs but as a DoF we sound like we are after someone who is going to get transfers done and dont know if hes teh man for that
  16. im trying to understand whether you think he is the worst manager or that was the worst performance. Related perhaps but certainly not the same thing. That quote simply cannot be purely in the context of one game - the subject is ralph as a manager and not the overseeing of an individual game.
  17. preside over can mean 1 game or more games but only in this context if that is in fact the amount of games the manager has in charge overall. If a manager has 100 games of which 99 are great you cant simply judge him as a manger on 1 game and claim that is his ability whilst he presided over saints, thats obvious
  18. The bold bit is sometimes the hard bit i think! best players arent always the best attitude ,especially around transfer windows! Agree about finding his feet - it took Pep a year to really get to grip with the prem with a team of world class players so what chance ralph with our lot! He needs time and our support i agree
  19. he gets on well everywhere he plays though it seems. Would love to see him given game time at saints myself - always felt hes got it (thought the same about folly and griffit too i suppose). Feels like when we're not challenging for much having our own players coming through really gives the club a feeling about it. Hes got to find a home soon though
  20. ok so he's a little ott but everyone can admit we were mm away from being 2-0 down to pompey. Class shone through in the end but not because we kept them at bay easily. Such games are likely to be like this i admit but it wasnt a great defensive display. We are weak defensively partly to do with our retention, our defenders and half of our defensive midfield unit simply give the ball away too often and too cheaply. Our defence was its best whe nwe had solid defensive midfielders who played simple effective passes and won the ball well. PEH is off his best form and it makes a big difference to those behind. Then ther eis a misplacedpass from each of that back line every game at least. Its hard to coach perfect defence when we allow turnover in dangerous positions so easily. 5 turnovers like that a game and a prem team will hurt you. If we give man city the ball like that theyll batter us.
  21. to me it looks like he answers a video call, it connects then he cheers with them. Hes celebrating with someone that cant be there. Bit odd to some but really not a story!
  22. or maybe ralph feels slattery/smallbone could do a job like valery did last year, surprise us all. Not sure thats the thinking - probably more money/getting players out related - but ralph may be more comfortable with it than we are
  23. He needs a goal badly and needs thee managers and our support badly but Ings took his chance last night and has to be ahead of che until he starts to take his. There room for him getting up and running a bit but hes had good chances, been unlucky and now seems to lack a little confidence and on the back of that sharpness. A couple of weeks from the bench for me with ings being rewarded for a good game. Key is to support him hugely when he does come on
  24. about 95% of responses to the thumbs up thing are likes - that is a suggestion it is well received. Not all those may have watched it / peolpe that didnt like it may not want to thumbs down it (i did neither) etc so of course not a complete reflection but could reasonably be considered the best reflection of how it is received. Not my cup of tea at all but thought id watch it - flicked through it a little but have to say i was pleasantly surprised. Not suggesting im going to watch every bit of every one but can see why people enjoy it. Interestingly you use stats about the average attendance but i think it has more appeal to people that dont go regularly and miss the buzz of the whole day. For highlights ill stick to proper telly but overall there is clearly a place for it (legalities pending). One thing that gets me about modern society is there is a general lack of passion - people dont grab things and really go for it - this is what he has done, time and effort and a good product that some people enjoy - even if they dont - so what - well done for getting it all put together. Its very easy to put someone off doing something by bullying them in to believing their passion has no value because other people dont love it as much as the individual. Keep going as long as you want to!
  25. what would he be worth with 3 years left do you think? i like him and think hes good for us but hes not the sort of player i can see attracting a big fee. decent sized european team may want him but hes not going up the table far in the prem i reckon
