  1. We need a poll now of will you support the appointment - loads of people didnt want it because we wanted to equal the Emery level of appointment. But now he's here it'd be interesting to see what the poll says as there are qualities he has that people can get behind. I for one support him now and am wanting him to do well and will see what he has to offer
  2. didnt he turn down Wolves about a week ago as he felt it was too soon for him and wanted to do a job there. I know a weeks a long time in football but we may have approached and got the same answer. Cant see why youd turn down wolves then jump for saints sadly
  3. He was great when he arrived. Breath of fresh air we needed with great energy and a style i could get behind. Its a shame he didnt have the right squad when he arrived as hes just become a bit jaded by life at saints... and who can blame him (well him completely!) All i can say is that truly Id love for him to be taking over fresh right now and SR bringing in a striker and winger
  4. Ive heard this a few times now and i just cant get my head around it. I understand the concept that we go for him and if we go down hes not a bad person to bring us up. But the way its written its as though we have better targets in mind but are choosing not to appoint them in case we appointed them and still go down and then we'd regret not having someone who could help us in the Championship. It simply doesnt make sense that we would risk going down at all just for a better chance in the championship. Am i missing something? It seems an error that i simply cant imagine anyone making. Ive no idea if its a good appointment but i cant believe its because we think we are down - have a look at the table - four points of 11th - it doesnt make sense does it? If we go down the person will have a similar record to Ralph this season... so do we really think we are trying to tie up Jones for next year as there is no-one that could keep us up?
  5. are we appointing Jones or talking to Jones? I know often the two are interchangeable but not always.
  6. Not sure of everyones definition of Key but Broja went too.
  7. I really don't know how the model works but it feels likely that success within the group (if the right clubs have been bought) should have benefits to other clubs within the group. The broad group financial muscle / resources must have a limit and if its growing in other areas rather than a drain then it must help us in one sense at least? Gut feeling is that it is more likely to benefit the teams lower down the model (eg the Redmond deal) but there will be more scouts in random places, more opportunities to bring young players with talent in to t eh group and filter to saints, also is there a chance of bigger sponsor revenue if we are a more multi national brand? I'm no expert on this for sure and its just ramblings! Anyone know how its gone with city - they have about 10 clubs and not sure how the model has helped the first team at city?

    Che Adams

Understand, and youre right that any starter injury weakens nearly any team. But in the same breath your hoping for a loan striker in there too.... and im assuming you dont want the loan striker to be worse than armstrong! If we get a loan that can cover the che role and a starter thats an improvement then really we have to be happy. Mara is the tricky one as based on 45 mins of friendly its assumed he wont be the answer but he may well be and no loan is needed. All about the end of the window i suppose and we know who we have and a few more games under our belt. Finger crossed!

And we’d still be one injury away from the weekend set-up. That’s the big risk here. It’s clear one is coming in, question is probably are two?
  10. Condiment?
  11. we were looking for two attacking players (generally rather than individuals) and likely to pick up one somewhere but maybe not two?
  12. He was last night!
  13. saw our under18s as a better pathway to moving to City?
  14. feel like Freddy Adu was linked about 5 times and was still only 24 by the last one!
  15. Agree to a point but its not easy to attract the best youth coaches if you cant hold on to the best youth, how do you think the youth team coaches feel about Diblings imminent departure, id imagine gutted and not wanting to be in a position where the best talent leaves
  16. Dont know much about Bazunu but he is keeping Kelleher and Randolph out of the international side. Id probably choose both of those over AMC so feels like this is a step up I understand wanting someone more experienced / better in but ill be happy with this if we get a good organiser of a CB in alongside. As fans i suppose we have to try and understand that (due to the way we are working as a club) our edge when trying to sign the likes of Tino comes from making the decision to sign the likes of Bazunu and giving them a chance. Not everyone agrees with that - i didnt like Tino taking KWPs place and felt KWP should start as first choice right back from the previous season - but thats the route we are going down - thats our edge/differential/insert random moneyball phrase here and we may just want to embrace it. Risky with a goalie perhaps more than any other position that we can cover in other way but its how we role these days
  17. He's had numerous rumours its true - just felt that the level of rumours seems with higher clubs with Phillips than JWP - not more than a feeling. May be right about the contract in terms of reducing interest
  18. Not really overthinking it but i suppose generally in the broad context of playing for a "big club" that helps you in an international stage. Just think its clear where JWP is in the pecking order and not more he can do whilst at saints. Not saying it would work, more that he couldnt be blamed for wondering Phillips is being linked to top clubs in a way JWP isnt (it seems from what ive seen in rumours) so maybe we're missing something
  19. As JWP watches bellingham come on ahead of him it must cross his mind he needs to move clubs. I know Phillips is at leeds who arent huge but what else can JWP do - he plays every game, he cant put himself in the window any more than he currently does at Saints - maybe needs europe to prove himself. Shame really
  20. I know what you mean, but cant help feeling sorry for them that the one time they win at 250,000/1 they only put 60p on it!
  21. Odd situation here. If he goes before the summer he takes our list of targets with him. Leicester are a better proposition for most I would think. Long term no problem, short term could be a real pain
  22. those players you mention are taking someone else's place though
  23. https://rsf.org/en/ranking_table Always find this table interesting - i'm sure people can pick apart the methods but still of interest. Apologies if its been posted before but no chance in hell i'm reading all the above after trying to read some of the nonsense. Not an awful rating but certainly always feel we should be aiming to be higher than we are. I just cant imagine living in Eritrea and thinking "just imagine if our press was as free as North Korea"!
  24. Right now I believe walker-peters is the better right back. Potential of Livra of course huge but somehow less worried about losing him that kids that have one through the academy. It’s not investing years to only see one year of a player, it’s great business to buy a player for 5m who is worth 35m two months later! Huge shame not to keep him but don’t have the few years before of excitement waiting for him to burst through
  25. Does this mean only home fans at home games?
