I think that recession is the operative word. One large Auto manufacturer, with a host of plants in Europe, recently declared a total embargo on overtime working. I have not had an increase in salary for 18 months now. Food seems to be rising in cost on an almost daily basis. What would happen if all the supermarket chains dropped their offers and sold their food at the price on the packet (you know what I mean here)? That would bring it home pretty quickly as to how much in the mire we are!

I like your first line! Does that also mean that 'Recession' is a more apt nomenclature than 'Credit Crunch' ?

Your last point is one which I also have an issue with. How long before he realises that he's just a puppet? How long before Lowe tires of him? Then who will run to LC for a supportive arm around the shoulder and "never mind mate, you and me, with all our shares, can oust that dirty rotten scoundrel". Then, as Jimmy young used to say "Orft we jolly well go" as the merry-go-round again gathers momentum!
