I didn't see or hear the match. What's the comment about Guly all about?
-
According to Telegraaf paper in Holland only medical left to do
-
I just looked at a list of City's full squad. Gawd, I hope we never become like them. 70% foreigners, and none of them care about the club.
-
That pretty much is my feeling too.
-
I just tried the new official site. Absolutely horrendous! hard to find anything. Whoever designed it should be fired!
-
Can't be bothered reading through 53 or so pages, and I frankly don't care who likes the new kit and who hates it. It wouldn't change my opinion anyway. Count me amongst the "don't like it one bit" group. It looks cheap, it looks like Liverpool and a bunch of other clubs. What it does not look like is Saints. We have a proud history and an identity that is uniquely ours. None of that is represented in this horrible kit.

For worst manager it surely has to be the Dutch duo, either individually or as a pair
-
Completely agree with this. A new attitude, great management and a confidence in the future that runs through the entire club. We would never have had all that without the misery and pain we went through. We can all be truly proud again.

I watched it 4.30 in the morning at the local pub here in Vegas. I cried like baby! Finally seven years of pain instigated by the evil duck hunter are behind us. Markus, Cortese and Adkins are heroes

Could it be that with the last game of the season we save Pompey by beating Coventry?
-
This is one of the very few times this season I was able to see the game (in the local Pub). I felt that the most efficient team won. Their defence was awesome and hard to break down, whereas ours definitely looked vulnerable at times. Fonte especially was disappointing. I have for months now seen all the moaning about Gully on this board, and I always thought "he scored some really important goals for us, so how bad can he be?". Well, now I know. For as long as he was on the pitch I do not remember him giving ANY forward pass or making any threatening move. All he did was pass backwards , lateral or lose the ball. But the bottom line is that if we do not strengthen the defence we will have a hard time in the Prem, assuming we get there.

Sorry, but I just bought the winner ;-)

Isn't this kind of thread normally posted in the summer when there are no football matters to discuss and folks just want to post a wind up out of boredom? I am just going to enjoy promotion no matter who the owner is or will be.

While promotion is what we play for, it also scares the crap out of me. The possibility that we'll initially be fighting just to stay up there doesn't really appeal, and the possibility of relegation again makes me cry just thinking about it. We will need some significant strengthening of the squad. I trust NA and Cortese that they will bring in re-enforcements, but with that comes the danger of getting players in for whom it is all about the money and less about the club. Call me a sentimental old fool, but I would rather see an average player with a heart for the club than some "galactico" who is only at SFC until some other club offers more money. We are going to have to put a lot of trust in the management team's ability to create a good 3-5 year plan that will allow us in the first few seasons to survive in the Prem, and after that getting us European football and possibly a title. It would be a daunting task, but given the success of our previous 5 year plan, and management's ability to stick to that plan, I think SFC can do it. Red And White Forever!
-
So many unknown factors at this time that it is hard to make a decent prediction: We will be in the Prem, but will we keep our most important players? Will we buy prudently? Will we keep Adkins and is he capable enough for the Prem? What kind of money will we have available and will we be willing to spend? I would be elated if we could finish mid table, but happy with just surviving the first year. Relegation simply is not an option. (in that case I'd rather not go up this year)
-
It has been quite amazing so far. We might beat the 5 year plan by a couple of years, so I am looking forward to the 3 year plan to win the Prem!!
-
Thanks Norm. Any chance of seeing you here in sunny Vegas anytime?
-
NORM!! Good to hear from you again. I still have very fond memories of that visit to Southampton! Say hi to Pat Fleet if you ever see him (or better still send me his email address if you have it. I can't seem to reach him. I'm at offix@cox.net)

I'd settle for a draw at Ipswich, but we have to win Barnsley
