  1. No. With the current coaching set up, and the current board policies (whether or not forced by finances) we will go straight down to League 2
  2. Exactly. He has "enabled" Lowe for as long as he has been involved with the club. I understand from the various reactions from people to him over the years that he may be easier to deal with, and presents himself better than Ru**rt, but his actions over the years make him just as much to blame for the current situation as his master is!
  3. Here's one more, especially for you Martini (smakelijk eten)
  4. Zero
  5. Like I said, whether his decisions were right or wrong (I happen to believe they were right) is irrelevant. We played without heart, without desire, without any significant work rate. For JP to say that the boys "kept fighting" is to say the least misleading, as they never really "fought" for the ball from the beginning.
  6. Sad to see JP resort to critisism of the referee as a reason for our loss yesterday. Takes me back to Burley's days. Until now, even while I always thought JP is out of his depth big time, I also had respect for what I perceived to be his honesty in post match comments. But to blame the ref for this one, as he is doing now, is completely ludicrous. We had no shots of any significance at goal, we created not a single real chance. I don't care to debate if their goal was off-side, if the penalty was just; it doesn't matter at all. We would not have scored if we played for 5 days straight against them, and Kelvin can only make up for a limited number of defensive errors. Stay honest JP, and recognize where it's all going wrong!
  7. Easy, because there is no value left in SFC. Nothing that would make any kind of investment, no matter how small, worthwhile. There's only debt, lousy players, debt, lousy coach, debt, and more debt.
  8. Wow, nothing like a thread about Lawrie to bring out all the nasty venomous Ru**rt plants and assorted vermin!
  9. I agree, let's not fire him until we are nicely settled in, in League 1
  10. LOL!! No, not far really! Only about 15 or 16 talented players, 1 coach and 1 manager with a basic understanding of football away!

No, the original poster is right. It's not being lightweight that's the problem; its the not trying, the lack of desire to win, the complete lack of effort .
  12. Hard to imagine an even stronger team, isn't it?:rolleyes:
  13. Poortvliet is turning out to be an even worse choice than that other success story of Ru**rt: Wigley.
  14. Johann Cruijff, even if he needs a Zimmer frame, would do better than some in our team now.
  15. BS original post. The DESIRE to win has nothing to do with their age, experience, or even lack of coaching. They have proven to be complacent about their abilities and careers, think they have made it big already, possibly feel entitled like many of their generation. Lack of talent can be largely compensated by hard work and the will to succeed. They have not shown any of that.
  16. Tim, either you smoked something really really good, or you were watching the wrong channel. That doesn't sound at all like the match I was watching (actually, it was not a match, more like a mismatch) :-(
  17. This was the first time this season for me that I had a chance to see a game. Normally I have to make do with the commentary on SaintsTV, but now I had a chance to go to the local English Pub here in Las Vegas and see a game live. I even met a visiting Saints fan and his lovely wife, SaintBobby. Now, I haven’t missed the commentary of a single match this season, so I knew that I should not expect too much, but I must say that this team, these players, this coach and these tactics were even worse than I expected. I don’t really care if the goal was off-side, I don’t really care if the penalty was just or not, none of that matters, because we were complete no-hopers and NEVER EVER would stand a chance against any team with the slightest bit of talent, desire and halfway proper tactics. They could have put a blow-up doll in goal and we still would not have scored. We created not a single chance, did not have one single decent run on the wings, had a man up front who doesn’t want to work for any ball and has absolutely no clue about football (McGoalless seems a very appropriate name for him), and worst of all, we showed no desire, no acceptable work rate and no belief. Every time a ManU player had possession the closest Saints player was 6 feet away and backing off. The “pretty passing play” that some have so loudly touted on here was nowhere to be found, as a matter of fact just in the first half alone Manu had almost twice as many completed passes as we did. I thought that supposedly these “kids” wanted to play for the shirt? They all had a chance to play themselves into the picture for various scouts and managers? They should not need any more motivation than just being in this match, and they should not need any other motivation than the opportunity to enhance their careers. Shame on them! And shame on Poortvliet for not even being able to get them fit enough to chase balls, or getting them motivated to do so, and especially for sticking with McGoalless, for not having even a basic understanding of tactics, for persisting with the idea that playing over the wings isn’t necessary, and finally for actually telling the world after this debacle that he was happy that the boys “kept fighting”? I don’t mind losing to ManU, as a matter of fact it was expected, but I DO mind when my team goes down without even trying. That is an affront to all true Saints fans, to the club and to the shirt. My respect to all of you who still persist in going to the matches.
  18. We'll probably screw that up too!
  19. An injured and unproven prospect? We'll take him then.
  20. what do the A and B teams look like so far?
  21. Ron Davies for this spot. Mike Channon next week for the other.
  22. Saints winger Ryan Smith has giant killing experience and is convinced that any pressure will be firmly on Manchester United this Sunday. Funniest line from the OS in months!
  23. Wow, I hope JP is watching that clip. THAT is how goals are made JP! Over the flank, get to the line, and cross it in! Wingers Jan, wingers. A new concept to you, but try it!
