  1. something definitely p@ssed him off
  2. It is strange, but although I am disappointed, VERY disappointed, at the result, I am not nearly as shattered as I would have been a few years ago. Instead I am also strangely proud of our performance and our club. The mere fact that we could even play this match, and do as well overall (league, JPT, FA cup) as we are doing (considering our own recent troubles and our own near death experience) mitigates somewhat the pain of losing this one.
  3. Just back from the pub, where I watched the match at 4:30 in the morning. I was sat next to a Pompey fan. As the scoreline developed late in the second half he became more and more quiet. When they scored their 3rd goal he did not celebrate, but started tearing up. By the 4th goal he was balling. He was very afraid that this match was a permanent "goodbye" for his team, and though for them it would be fitting that this would be against Saints, and with a win, he basically felt that he could be watching the funeral of his club at that moment. We may be real rivals, and I know I will get slated for saying this, but I knew how he felt. It's only 9 or 10 months ago that we were in the same boat. I too shed more than a few tears in those days. I ended up giving him a great big hug, and told him that I really hope that they will survive, so that we get many more chances to beat their ass. It would be a shame to lose that rivalry, and it is a shame when any club with such a long history disappears forever.
  4. Not just no, but HELL NO!
  5. 4:30 am local time in the Crown & Anchor in Vegas. Wearing colours, drinking beer, have an old fashioned English breakfast, and a GIANT celebratory howl after we beat them!
  6. No excuses at all. We were crap, now we are significantly better. What would there be to apologize for? I just don't get it. Would I love it if we ran away with the title? Sure. But would I happily have killed for a mid table finish in our pre-Markus era? Abso-f@cking-lutely! I see nothing that requires an excuse. If we had been a competitive team last season then maybe we could call our current form "poor" as you do. But given the form we saw for many seasons in the past, our current form is well above acceptable, especially if one believes that we are still improving.
  7. Alps, Wow, the last few seasons you and I seemed to agree on most issues, but this year that seems not to be the case. I didn't know anyone had defined a "party line", all I know is that even from this great distance I am enjoying my football again.
  8. And I want to win the premier in 3 years. And if we don't I will be mightily upset and demand that we get a new owner, manager, CEO, kitman and a completely new stadium:rolleyes:
  9. We started the season at minus 10. Our squad was unmotivated and expected to lose every match In spite of that we are now smack in the middle of the table, which is exactly what the 5 year plan called for (survival in mid table, promotion next year) Oh how I wish the days of RL were here again. God, what a completely moronic original post.
  10. Nice article. BTW, I am Ali Dia, and I too hate Pompey ever since my long remembered spell at Saints.
  11. I am sooooooooooooooo grateful to Mr. Liebherr. I am loving football again
  12. to all fans there: give that w@nker keane the finger please like he did to us
  13. that F@@khead deserves a good hiding. Hope we can give it to them so that all in the stadium can give the same gesture he gave us back to the w@nker!
  14. The team is performing just fine, the transfer activity is awesome and seems to have approval from a majority on here, so why change anything?
  15. Looking back overt this year, as we tend to do in December, it's quite incredible to me how my outlook on Saints has changed in this year. This time last year we rightly feared for the very existence of our beloved and revered club, as we were slowly but surely driven into oblivion by a few egocentric maniacs with a Napoleon syndrome. This time last year we expected defeat in every match and were pleasantly surprised on those very few occasions where we didn't lose. This time last year the fighting wasn't limited to the board room; on this board emotions ran high when discussing the manager's abilities (or lack thereof, depending on your side of the argument) or the good and bad of the chairmen and the other major players/shareholders. At some point in this year we were literally 24 hours away from Saints being nothing more than a memory. But then our luck turned; we are now debt free, we have an owner who is not only is willing to invest, he is also not the media-whore that we were used to. We have a business leader who is showing real promise and true commitment to the club and its fans, and we have a manager who is silencing most of his early critics, and who has shaped a team that has proven to be at a minimum competitive in this league. And the most amazing thing to me is this: Last year this time, when I was looking at the remaining fixtures and had a hard time figuring out where our next win would come from. Just now I looked at the remaining fixtures for this season, and while I certainly realize that we can't and won't win them all .... I am having a hard time figuring out where our next loss will be coming from! I know, rosy coloured glasses and all that, but be real; every match now we have a reasonable expectation of a win. I for one am extremely grateful for what has happened to our club. Those changes are the best present I could have wished for this Christmas.

  21. Someone (Fitzhugh Fella?) should write a book. There are plenty " The rise and fall of ....." books, but we should have one describing the reverse: The Fall And Rise of Southampton FC. I don't know about you all, but I would buy such a book.
  22. The good news just keeps on coming!! The last vestige of Ru*rt and Quisling's gone.
  23. What is the best definition of the word PROUD? Answer: A Saints Fan! I am just bursting with pride!!
  24. Send him over here, We have experience making that happen
