As others have answered so far, I think a lot depends on how close you live to Southampton. Coming from Mid Devon, I think I worked out that a matchday ticket this year plus transport, programme etc would be around £70-80. Could be driven down a bit if I shared transport, but even so, you are still looking at £50 a game minimum. And that would involve simply watching the game, and not seeing friends, family etc. Now that ticket prices are that much higher in the Prem, it feels more like getting tickets for a big concert at Wembley etc; certainly not something I could afford to do every couple of weeks. I'd like to try and see one game this season as I haven't been to St Mary's for nearly four years! But to be honest my life is different now; I have a young family and whilst I would love to watch Saints more often, it just isn't a priority any more - too much other s*** to sort out every day!

Think I know why the Villa game is category C - it's on a Tuesday night (3rd December), and with Christmas being around the corner and the Man City game on the Saturday (7th), it could potentially be a smaller crowd. Seems like quite a logical move Prices seem OK, even if I go to a Category A game I can probably get my transport etc in for around £70. Haven't been to St Marys since 2009 when we beat Yeovil 2-0 - we haven't done too bad in my absence....

A class act. No wonder he retired playing for England after Euro 2004 after being plonked out on the left - what a waste of talent. Mustn't forget that he was prone to making some poor tackles, but certainly not enough to overlook his other achievements. United have been so lucky to have SAF, Giggs and Scholes for such a long time.

Interesting quote from David Gill on the BBC website: "In Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex we got in managers who got involved in all aspects of the club. That degree of loyalty is crucial to the success of Manchester United. He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool." That last sentence could be telling...could that rule David Moyes out? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I love what Dave has to say on the radio. I haven't lived in the area for a good ten years now but was down a few weekends ago when Saints beat Liverpool, and was listening in to his post-match analysis of why Lambert and Rodriguez were such a good combo. Don't know why but it just put a smile on my face listening to Dave! Was reading Matty's autobiography the other day, in it he says about how Alan Shearer felt he was the biggest influence on his early career. Not a bad tribute to be fair!

Nice touch there from NA to say thanks to us, very classy indeed. Certainly a lot classier than the way we got rid of him with barely a mention. But hey ho, what's done is done. I think we will probably be OK this season, just hope that we avoid defeat at Reading. That would be very embarrassing and would more than likely put the media spotlight firmly back on Cortese and Pochettino, just when we don't need it.

Quite right. At the end of the day none of this has anything to do with what is going on on the pitch, it's just yet another sideshow in a long list of many, many off-field issues over the past few years. I just don't see how it will ever be resolved frankly now, especially with the ongoing court case. And that is a great shame for all involved. My only hope is that all of this rubbish will dominate the airwaves and leave MP the time to concentrate on getting the team safe this season.

My hero! Seems to be doing a good job. When I heard he got the Brentford job I was pretty shocked, mainly because of the randomness of it to be fair. Pity they couldn't beat Chelsea yesterday though, that would have been great!

Andrei Kanchelskis! We gave him the number 7 shirt (the first player to wear it post-Matty), and although he was knocking on 33 when he arrived I felt sure he could do a decent job - remember the likes of Djorkaeff, Fernando Hierro etc were doing the business for Bolton, so why not Andrei? I remember we brought him on against Everton during the 02/03 season. Received the ball out wide and spooned his cross into the Chapel. That was that!

A nice little 20 minute cameo at the end for Ramirez could do the trick....glad to hear he's going to be back!

Whenever I go down to see the in-laws I try and watch Salcombe Town play in Div 5 of the South Devon Football League! That's proper non-league for you! Obviously it's free to watch, the banter is terrific and actually the quality of football is surprisingly good. Last time I saw them play the game was stopped for five minutes whilst someone cleared some dog turd off the pitch....can you imagine that happening at St Mary's?!
-
I'd be very, very surprised if he ended up at Bristol City. Their number one is Tom Heaton and backup is Dean Gerken who is IMO a very able goalie having seen him a few times. Neither are injured at the moment either. I just can't see this one happening at all, but we'll wait and see....

I vote to stick with him - he needs to be given the time to sort these problems out. We are nowhere near adrift but obviously we can't go on conceding an average of three goals every game.

It's crazy to think that just two weeks ago the whole stadium was chanting "There's only one Nigel Adkins" in support of the man. That's football for you though! We need to give him a fair crack of the whip, and that's not just me blindly saying so for the sake of stability. He's clearly a very intelligent bloke and I am sure he will be studying the videos in depth working out what he/the team can do to improve things. Clearly we have got to try and tighten up at the back as otherwise we'll be on course for letting in 100 goals this season, but at the same time we need to try and keep our attacking belief. Teams that struggle always have issues scoring goals, and I am sure he will be pleased that we have shown (so far) that we are more than capable in that area. I know that the players will be looking to finish higher than 17th this year, but the reality is that's all we need to do - stay up, consolidate and move forward. If we stay up having scored 70 goals and let in 100, well so be it!
-
Actually you're pretty much right. He said just as much in his testimonial programme back in 2002. Can't remember the exact figures but basically with all his add-ons he got near to 10k a week one year. It's insane really when you think about it, just goes to show that he really was a one in a million player who was happy enough with his lot.
-
I'm sure the team will be looking for something better next season, but yes - of course I would take 17th in our first season back. IMO we need to make sure we are in the Premier League for the next three seasons. If we can do that then I think we will be in a once-in-a-lifetime position to push the club forward. The new financial restrictions will be taking effect around then and I genuinely believe with the infrastructure that we have that we could become a major force. Most people would laugh at that right now, but why not? We have got one of the best youth development structures, if not the best, within English football, and we should be proud of that.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2746639,00.html It's official - on the box. I won't be watching or listening to the game full stop. Any time this season I've tried to follow the team on TV or on the radio they have lost or drawn. I am not going to tempt fate!
-
Or feature them on radio either!!
-
I wouldn't worry in the slightest. The way they celebrated on Tuesday, you'd think they had already won the League. History shows that teams have a tendency to take their foot off the gas once the main "job" is done. I think they have done fantastic to get where they are but I am not personally convinced they will have the focus to win their last two now, so it is up to us to win our last two and hopefully nick the title at home against Coventry!
-
Well I won't be going...I haven't seen Saints play since they beat Yeovil 2-0 three years ago. In that time we've won the JPT, got promoted from League One and are on the verge of getting back to the Prem. If you want Saints to continue being successful then you won't want people like me going to see a Saints game any time soon!
-
I really don't think that having Premier League experience is the be all and end all in the Champ though. What Saints have got is a squad of players who know how to win; admittedly our form could have been better the last few games, but who's to say any more experienced players would have made the difference? The fact is that Reading could still screw up and lose their last three (highly unlikely I know, but when the finish line is in sight even the best teams in the world slip up). If that were to happen then surely they will bemoan their poor start to the season? Likewise if West Ham don't make it then their fans will be moaning about Big Sam's style of play and their rubbish home form for a long period of time. We have made it a little bit harder for ourselves than needs be, but the fact remains that if we win our last three then we go up whatever happens. I personally believe we will go up with 5 points from the next 3 games (as I reckon West Ham will pick up 7).

....scored the first goal today as Hearts beat Celtic 2-1 to ensure an all-Edinburgh Scottish Cup final. Not been following his time back at Hearts at all but I noticed he's scored a lot of goals (nearly 1 in 2 ratio which ain't bad at all). HCDAJFU!

Just the result we needed today, excellent work. Sounds like the Saints fans who travelled did us proud yet again. Two more goals for Rickie Lambert as well, what a hero! Could well be promoted this time next week depending on results; it's within touching distance now but no doubt Nige will continue to take each game as it comes (as I would fully expect).
