Best Saints performance I've seen this season. Thought the whole team was fantastic. Jrod had some absolutely sublime touches just a shame no chances fell to him. Whatever happens at Anfield it has been awesome to watch Saints win a semi final game. Was it just me though or was the ref strangely biased?

No offer has been made to Yakin so far and the Swiss press seem surprised that he is favourites ahead of 'illustrious' names like McClaren and Moyes. Some of the commenters mention that even if Southampton have a sell out this summer there will still be plenty for Yakin to work with and reckon he would be a good fit. They also seem to really like Krueger! http://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/international/premierleague/muri-favorit-bei-southampton-englische-buchmacher-haben-yakin-auf-der-liste-id2879083.html

lol so many soiled bed sheets to be put in the wash on this forum. Did anyone happen to see JWP scoring a free kick against Brazil from the apex of the penalty area?

Just total speculation on my part but I have a feeling the new manager will be German, or German speaking (if I go on the recent Germanic board appointments of Hofstetter and Krüger). What is interesting but is probably in no way related is that Thomas Tuchel at Mainz effectively stepped down from his position a few days ago. The Mainz chairman is however refusing to terminate Tuchel's contract. This seems to suggest that Tuchel felt he need to make himself available yet the Mainz chairman knows that someone is interested in Tuchel and thus will not terminate his contract as he is hoping that Tuchels prospective new club will buy him out of the contract. This is of course pure guess work and Tuchel did say that he had planned to leave Mainz since last autumn. In any case, the guy has had a lot of success at a club in a similar position to Saints and qualified this season for the the Europa league (something MoPo couldn't do but will no doubt do at Spurs next season!). Would be a very exciting appointment imo (Tuchel has by many accounts been a greater success at Mainz than Klopp was).

German commentator during match on Southampton last night: ' Adam Lallana one of the outstanding players in the Premier League this season from FC Southampton who are third in the League and are absolutely sensational at the moment' ' Rickie Lambert a player with a fairytale story from factory work to Premier League' Also both at half time and after the match Memut Scholl basically just laughed at how poor England were. I'm clutching at straws but the only explanation I can find for the complete lack of a system or tactic from England during the two friendlies is because Hodgson didn't want to give anything away to either Chile or Germany in case we play them in the WC?
-
Lallana's been involved in everything good so far really. Feel JRods just doing what he's been told but he's looking lost cos seems that roy's told everyone to do different things. Don't think the management put much thought into dealing with Chile's playing it out from the back Osvaldo with a superb touch as an assist for Italy's equalizer against Deutschland

St Marys will always be better than going to a Bundesliga match. Don't believe the hype (too much). I live in Frankfurt and have been to a few matches including at Eintracht. Yeh they all stand up and you can drink a 5 Euro beer and smoke in the stadium if you like but the atmosphere always feels more sterile to me than in England. Althought it is definitely worth going once or twice! The crowds don't really believe in spontaneous chants imo nor do they do humour what they do do is have some chump climb the fences with a megaphone and wave stupid flags in your face. I'm also not too certain on the standard of football outside of Dortmund or Munich. I reckon Saints would beat most of the rest on a good day. The fact that Dortmunds 'song' is to the tune of Pet Shop Boys 'Go West' kind of speak volumes about how 'hip' they really are. Thers's also a growing negative undertone with regards to fan violence which the Bundesliga are turning a blind eye to imo. I'm also sceptical about the standing sections as I know for a fact that due to lapse security those stand always have more people in them than they should (basically you can walk in with 5 mates who have tickets for that section then go out again with the tickets of your mates who are already in the stand and bring in another 4 guys who don't have tickets for that section. This is because your tickets are only properly checked when you enter the stadium area not each stand).

It’s a shame to have a manager with bad people skills and that must not be much fun at all for employees however as long as he is managing the club from a financial side successfully and he delivers on his ambition – no one can argue that he is not doing a successful job. It’s also a shame that those associated with the club might not get the recognition they deserve however it’s 2012 and businesses run differently now than in the past. There is no need for excess fat, costs, etc that’s just the nature of business today. At the end of the day Cortese is stopping no one (apart from perhaps Nick Illingsworth I presume but didn’t he do something a little strange at Wembley one time?) from watching Saints play, whereas Lowe almost brought us to the point where Saints might not even play another game ever again and there would be no employees left at the club… capito?

There's always too big a gap between our back 4 and the attacking 4. When we play it out from the back our defence struggle to reach the attackers as they are so far up the field. When we loose possession in midfield the attacking 4 are too far forward to help out and the defending 4 too far back and this allows the opposition to run at us putting us constantly under the cosh. We need to play with a tighter formation in the middle of the park and stop capitulating that space to the opposition. If we had run at the West Brom back 4 all night like they did at our back 4 they would also look rather ordinary. For the next game I would keep the same team although Ramirez to play in the middle and have some one else on the right who can track back. Formation needs to change in any case. Let's hope Adkins is still around, we're lucky to have him.

Does anyone have an update on Ramirez fitness?
disintegration87 replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
The topic of this thread is called 'Does anone have an update on Ramirez fitness?' This is obviously of huge interest to dedicated Southampton fans as we all want our best player playing on Monday as we desperately need a win. So to everyone on this last page who have written irrelevant post after irrelevant post, I would greatly appreciate it if you stopped. Unless of course you 'have an update on Ramirez fitness?' Thanks. -
Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshi Fox Spiderman Adz Ramirez Steve Dave Jay Rod Goal Machine Something like this if Ramirez is fit otherwise swap with Guly. Feel Punch Mayuka on bench to make cameos once we are 3-0 down. Does Adz play on the right? I feel Adkins will play Jay Rod and personally a Saints team without Lallana is weaker than a Saints team with a Llama. Rickie scored again WBA in a pre season friendly last season after the taters kept harping on about how fat he is so he’s bound to score on Monday. Would love it if we won. Would absolutely love it.

I thought Spiderman plugged the leaks well in central midfield against Fulham which caused us so many problem against Everton. We look dodgy whenever the opposition attacks with an overlap down either wing - with the possibility of balls being crossed into Carrol from deep wide positions this will be a big worry. Let's hope Nigel works on the defence in the next days and hope Clyne returns. going forward I really think we cna cause Wet Ham problems, I like the look of Jrod tbh and think we have enough even without Ramirez. If we can keep a clean sheet I reckon we will win but tbh theres not much chance of that! Would Love for Lee and Cork to be involved. O and they f*** hate Lambert so its a given he will score against them.

Stop Leaking Goals to move up the Premier League
disintegration87 replied to PinkScarf's topic in The Saints
i think it was especially tricky against Everton with both Spiderman and Cork out. But yes, we really do need to stop more opposition attacks from midfield. Could Chaplow do a job getting stuck in here, commiting a few tactical fouls perhaps? in the place of MS and JC? Perhaps Guly could also create more physical opposition in the centre. I feel JWP and Davis were getting pushed around too easily. -
I think the problem with sacking Nigel Adkins is that there is only one Nigel Adkins. So if we sack the only Nigel Adkins we will no longer be managed by the brilliant and highly successful, Nigel Adkins. The man who brought us from the brink of oblivion to the biggest league in the world faster than it took me to reach level 18 on Fifa 11 online. Arsenal beat us 6-1. So what, they will probably end up trophyless again this year. Besides, i remember a year ago they too got thrashed: 8-2. We have been beaten by 3 teams who in all likelihood will finish in the top 3 and Wigan who, although we dominated in the 1st half rode their luck and beat us. We have some brilliant players and if Adkins is given time we will ultimately have a very successful season. (Although I feel the need to dip into the loan market for a left back)

Do you think there will be a live stream for the arsenal game?

Lallana in place of Cleverly and we would have been out of sight by half time. Any one else think that if Rickie was on the end of some of Gerrard's balls into the box rather than Jermaine we would have been much more comfortable?
-
Time for a win: 0-6. Yoshida to score over head samurai kick form the edge of the box. Rickie to get a hat trick of headers.

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan

totally gutted. Can't believe it really. Very happy to see the Gaston announcement but really sad to see Billy go. Best of luck to him. -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19422123 Being reported on BBC live ticker as almost complete... minor details... although due to complexity of deal treat with caution
-
concrete signals that Saints are bidding for Del Piero: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19422123 What.
-
Calm down - am sure deal is still on. Nothing that can't be solved by a bunga bunga party.
-
And our CB's leaking goals. (sorry just wanted to partake in the overwhelming pessimism going on on this thread)
-
Rickie Lambert needed 4 minutes to score a goal in the premier league. Puts Torres at Chelsea to shame!
-
As a disclaimer I think we should all ask the question: Is this economically sound if we sign this player? on the PTS we accuse Pompeys fans of never questionning their huge signings so lets cover our tracks so that we can continue to criticise them

Sounds like its really happening if the quote is accurate, Ramirez 'Vado al Southampton'........ all I will say to that is: va bene.
