  1. He is a classy player - like i said main threats are Anderson and Snodgrass (and Carroll when he comes on) Great strike, i think Macca was beaten a bit easily on his near post though.
  2. Valery is close to being a good player, Targett is better going forward than him but i think Valery is a bit more less error prone defensivily. Vestergard has been good tonight, three centre backs could be a bit much against Lucas Perez who isn't a top class striker. Providing we stay close to Filipe Anderson and Snodgrass we will be okay as they're the main threats. Lemina has been working hard, i think this game could do with Obafemi stretching them late on. We just need to stay in the game. I'd be happy with a point.
  3. West Ham have been very good so far, Declan Rice looks class. We simply are a bit slow in attack tonight.
  4. Man City, Spurs, Everton (away), Chelsea
  5. Redmond and Ings clearly the best players for us, Romeu/Armstrong have been poor along with Yoshida.
  6. Oriel dear oh me.
  7. Well worked equaliser, very patient by Arsenal. Poor marking in the box however, a new manager can't solve the clear defensive problems. I would take a point today and keep building.
  8. Jesus wept - another woeful mistake/s Jan has been copying defensive howlers from Hoedt and Cedric. We clearly have no direction on the ball and that's what ends up happening we dally on it and get caught!
  9. Valery looks decent going forward, but a little to eager to make challenges and indecisive when a man runs at him. Targett/Jan both are clumsy on the ball. Targett needs to cross earlier. Lemina and Holjberg are our best players and doing some good work, along with Romeu. Redmond is a bit anoynmous, Austin has made some good runs but clearly off the pace, but may nick a goal as he is losing his marker. Second half i'd like to see Gabbi on for Austin, Stephens/Cedric on for Valery who looks like he will make another clumsy challenge and get sent off. Vestergard, has had some scary moments, he tends to lose his position quite easily and is being bullied by Paterson. Our central midfield is superior, but they are better in wide areas and generally going forward, we're guilty of overplaying when in good positions and then being countered. I'd take a draw as we're a bit off the pace compared to the Man Utd performance.
  10. Like the look of Valery - gets up and down well. Just needs to focus on defensive positioning a bit more. Looks like actual competition for Cedric, ideally he should start next game.
  11. Obafemi misses a sitter of all sitters.
  12. We will still probably steal an equaliser - but this highlights just how fragile this poor team is. Austin/Cedric both having shockers, along with Hoedt. Lemina/Yoshida/Redmond/Armstrong so far doing well, a really strange performance. However Hughes needs to go, can't see us improving under him, and he is too stubborn to change underperforming players like Hoedt/Cedric.
  13. That highlights the need for a new right back - Cedric got eaten alive as always.
  14. They deserved that - they pressed and we simply sat on the lead and lost all ambition after scoring. We were playing FAR too safe. Anyone can also see that we're virtually playing with 10 men as Austin once again has done nothing so far other than stand around like a lost man on the field.
  15. The Watford game showed some positive signs, i think we just need to start picking up points when the big boys come to town. I expected Watford to thrash us, but we stood up much taller in defence after a shaky start and looked brighter in attack. I still think the club needs to get a long-term replacement for Hughes, but a quick sack and decision won't do anything, the key is making the right appointment. However after Les Reed went, the first step is to shake-up the football set-up of the club and Hughes remit is simply keep the ship from sinking in that time. Whether he can do that remains to be seen, but i'm confident we'll be at least able to pick up points against the teams around us and might even get the odd result in the next ten games. The few positives i can see is that Hoedt is improving, Gabbi started, El was on the bench, Yoshida was picked, Armstrong was given a chance and looks a solid player and a good box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal. Austin will continue to be a bit-part player as he is so horrifically unfit and slow. If we get to January still in the mix in 16th place, we will need to sell Bertrand and Cedric and shake-up the full back positions, neither are motivated anymore and both look shadows of their former selves. Hopefully the review looks at why we brought far too many strikers of average quality (Long, Austin, Carillo etc!) and never properly replaced Mane, Pelle, Wanyama and VVD.
  16. The problem is Holberg offers us so much running and energy but today he can't seem to find a pass for love or money. Hoedt is very confident today, but fear he will play a pass that will put us in trouble - we seem to get overconfident at 1-0 up and we almost gifted Watford an equaliser by trying to play it around at the back. I'd like to see us hit the channels and turn them and simply win ugly. We can't afford to give them a sniff.
  17. Hol playing poorly - Gabbi and Armstrong doing well. Yoshida/Hoedt - decent Bertrand - full of mistakes.
  18. The end of Hughes, i think the performance speaks volumes. Last season we at least battled for 90 mins and they scored a last minute Sterling winner under Poch. Under Hughes we look clueless, we started the game as if we knew we were onto a drubbing and it comes true.
  19. Thoughts so far - we're a better side, but lacking thrust after our bright spell in the first 15. Austin - again useless, doesn't look like scoring or doing anything, looks like a non-league player and clearly a mile off the pace. Redmond and El are looking like they may create but both just not direct enough, El likes to pass back he actually has some pace and strength and looks better when he cuts inside and goes direct, should have set-up Ings though. Romeu - decent along with Lemina. Cedric/Bertrand both need to be putting the ball in earlier. If we take off Austin, put on Armstrong or Gabbi - i think we'll win. But Ings and Austin doesn't work, Ings is looking for movement and Austin isn't offering it, while Austin is only really focused on himself and not a team player.
  20. Also, If Cedric and Bertrand had more quality in the cross today we could have created even more chances. Hughes HAS to stop playing Charlie Austin, he may have been good once but he was useless today as shown by his one on one - simply no confidence and no pace. Championship player nowadays. Gabbi and Ings next upfront please!
  21. Hanging on? we had the best chances by far and Macca didn't have a save to make. It was a solid performance and a good brave sub by Hughes by swapping the ineffectual Ings and Austin for Long and Gabbi and we almost nicked it at the end. Holjberg was top class, Redmond was hot and cold, both full backs had good moments and Hoedt and Stephens played very well today. Certainly a very positive performance and a well earned point - but i think we deserved all three.
  22. Sounds like we're barely touching the ball..
  23. Pierre Holjberg will turn out to be a good signing - the next Spiderman, Ings is good, Macca has been excellent, the real under investment has been in full back positions to a degree, Cedric can play poorly week after week and still will be first name on the team sheet (as will Hoedt despite Yoshida being a level above... Mark Hughes stubborness anyone)
  24. Club has been a mess behind the scenes for two years. Cedric/Charlie were both awful and what sort of a captain is Bertrand - the only one that deserves it and is trying is Pierre Holgberg, the rest of them are useless.
  25. That sums up Austin's day - woeful, lazy and pointless. Please take him off Hughes, he's like that drunken boxer going in for "one more fight" but is well past his prime currently.
