Reading friendly at St Mary's - 31st July 2010
Saint_lambden replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Well then, another chance to get the better of this lot like we did twice the season before last. The atmosphere from us will have to be good- because their fans are terrible. On the price issue- would have been nice to see all kids free (under 16's or 18's) and maybe maximum £10 for adults. I think we'll beat them with a strong squad together. -

Exactly- the only good thing Carter has ever done was score a screamer against Arsenal. -
That c^nt John W******d crying whilst attempting to blurt out some song live on TV was priceless

Finally it's in!

McSheffery would still do a job at League 1 level and he's a good age at 27. Would add an extra option for both the striker and left wing roles. :finga: As for Quedrue, I think he can play at either Left-Back or Centre-Back which are areas we are fine in ATM. -

Bauza at Swansea has been released... Not sure what type of midfielder he is but could add something new to the midfield and he's a good age at 25. -
It's the Daily Echo, truth isn't something they are known for
-
IF he does go then I think it depends who we get in which will make up the minds of many players who are thinking of leaving. If Cotterill comes in or somebody that is not up to Pardew's standard then some may head for the exit unfortunately. I hope and think that the fact the meeting was delayed a day means that Cortese is having more time to think about things.
-
Steve Cotterill is no better than Pardew TBH if not worse. Would be a step backwards and back to square 1. AP any day over him

Best Home: Brighton Best Away: Swindon ------------------------ Worst Home: Tranmere,Leeds, Oldham (in that order) Worst Away: MK Dons from what I here.

^ That one was shown v Ajax pre-season and a similar one was made in the build-up to the JPT final.

TBH I agree, although Hughes has no experience in the lower leagues it would be a massive coup for the club, I mean Mark Hughes in League 1 just a few months after leaving Man City!. Despite this, I am 100% BACKING PARDEW and unless he goes I will continue to back him and the board :finga:

"Did you see that Ginger Guy's hair....he's behind me isn't he?!"

Is this the same Leeds who had one shot on target against us at St Marys and only kept the score down to 1-0 because the Referee was a t0sser? Not bothered- if we're gonna go up we will have to beat the best teams down here and their squad will be weaker if they don't go up* *if they don't we should nab Kisnorbo from them
-
Hibs were 6-2 up I think! And a 93rd minute equaliser to make it 6-6, gutted to any Motherwell fans who left early
-
For a moment I thought it was the Stephen "jippo" Hunt at Hull- then again he was terrible for Reading the 2nd half of last season (especially against us). We don't really need another Left-back TBH, if we have Harding and then Mills as back-up.

Good shout but his wages would be high to bring him down to League 1. Either go back for Brain Stock or try to get James Coppinger, also at Donny who likes to go forward from midfield and can play just behind the front two. Like I said before, Tom Cleverley -
You f/cking look like a wotsit!!

Henri Lansbury and Tom Cleverley who are on loan at Watford from Arsenal and M.Utd are two young, goalscoring midfielders who like to get forward. The later has got 11 goals this season and Lansbury has got 5. Maybe a loan to buy deal for either? -

In most cases they are not great but look at the examples of players like Darren Ambrose, released last season and probably in the top 5 championship players of the season this year. And for us look at Harding and Jaidi, released by championship teams Ipswich and Birmingham(champ in 08/09) last season and they have been great for us. At the start of July there are some great players available on a free. -
Are you joking? Do you actually go to games other than the one today? Barnard works his socks off every game and tries to hold the ball up and is quite often fouled. How the heck has he not done it for us? 2 goals against champions Norwich, the same against Walsall and 4 other very important goals!

By listening to the post-match interview today, Pardew has hinted at Connolly staying next year. I think he deserves a one-year extension because he's got quite a few goals and has that extra technical class on the ball. Today was a big game for James, Semi and Waigo as well and only the later really impressed according to Solent. I can see Pardew trying to get a loan striker in similar to Lambert in the window and we may have seen Antonio for the last time (or will vs Southend).
-
Pardew's experimenting. But if we lose this I bet he won't make so many changes to our normal first X1 next week v Southend or he'll risk the home crowd being a bit annoyed. If there's a big crowd they will wan't to see us beat Southend convincing by 2,3,4 goals and not pay good money to have Martin at CB- I'm hoping Jaidi comes back into the side next week although Fonte sounds like he's having a nightmare today. COYR

Keep: Perry as the emergency back-up/coach role , Connolly for 1 more year (pay as you play deal) , both Waigo and Antonio on 2 and 3 year deals respectively, Bart. Release: The rest of them- thanks but no thanks.

Theo got cheered at the last under 21 game at St Mary's a couple of years ago. and i'm pretty sure he was playing for Arsenal at the time.
