I feel sorry for the younger players...
Born In The 80s replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Exactly the same how i feel after pretty much every game. When i see little kids walking to the game with names like Saganowski, Wright-Phillips and Skacel on their shirts i really feel sorry for them. I also hugely respect these kids as well. I'd guess in their class they are probably the only ones who don't support Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea. I hope to god they all get to experience the good times in years to come because they ****ing deserve it. I was chatting to a family (Mum, Dad, 2 kids) after the Forest game on the walk back to the town centre. All season ticket holders and all have been to several away games. The kids said cheering and dancing to Chelsea Daggers after the FOREST goals was the highlight of their season and to be honest, i completely agreed with them! Says it all really.... -
Was a great weekend. Like others, i made a weekend of it with a few nights on the **** in Nottingham and i have to say i enjoyed every minute of it. I knew i'd enjoy the beer but by far the most i've enjoyed a game this season and it was all down to our fans. As others have mentioned, it was truely fantastic support. Dare i say it, the best i have experienced since we beat Wimbledon and Selhurst Park all those years ago. Some of the players just don't know how lucky they are to recieve such fantastic support (*cough* Marek Saganowski and Rudi Skacel *cough*). Had loads of chats with Forest fans after the game and it was great chatting to them and hearing what they had to say about us, "premiership fans who deserve a premiership club" was one thing that a Forest fan told me. I very much hope that one day we will indeed return to the premiership along with the likes of Forest. One thing that the weekend did underline to me though is that Southampton Football Club will never die. Before the weekend, i'd lost it with just about everything at the club. The players, the boardroom, the fans, everything. However, yesterday, i was proud to be a saint. Things will get better. So stop squabbling amoungst yourselves about Lowe, Wilde or whoever and stop playing the blame game and keep. Quite frankly, it's boring as hell. We're in League 1 now and i say we embrace it and look forward to the challenge. Plenty of new grounds for us to visit, and plenty of away weekends with ridiculous amounts of beer to drink . Southampton will never die.

What us going bust? Not really mate.

I think that if we do go bust before the last game, all our results over the whole season are cancelled. Therefore, Forest would not only sacrifice their last game, but their away win at St Mary's would be void as well meaning they'd almost certainly go down as we've had decent results against Norwich and Barnsley.

Yorkie's post sums up exactly how i feel. I'm still up in Sheffield staying at a mate's house. What an utter disgrace today was. We have been served up some ****e over the past few years but i can honestly say that i have never felt this low about saints ever. As easy as it is to blame Lowe, Wilde, Wotte, there were 11 so-called 'pros' out there today who showed NO commitment, NO desire, NO effort and certainly NO bottle. If the players give their all then i find it very difficult to slag them off. However, today was totally unacceptable. Still get some saints fans clapping them off though. Utterly unbelievable.

Came on for Bradley in the second half. I thought he looked distinctly average (again). Our strikers are absolutely terrible!

Smith is easily the most frustrating player in our squad. It is clear that he does have something about him and could be a top class player. He has all the right attributes to be a great winger (dribbling, crossing etc.) but unfortunately he hasn't quite done it for us yet this season. For me, i have no idea why he is being played on the right. He is completely left footed and IMO has the pace and ability to be able to beat defenders on the outside and get to the byline. There are clear comparisons with Fabrice Fernandes. However, Fernandes was arguably one of the most skillful we've had in a very long time and used to beat defenders with his skill as opposed to his pace. Smith, isn't this kind of winger in my opinion. He isn't skillful enough to cut inside and sell the few dummies and curl a cross in like Fernandes did. He does however, possess pace. I'd get him on the left and tell him to play a more direct style (run at defenders like aaron lennon as opposed to running down the line and then looking to cut in like fernandes). I think if Wotte uses him correctly, he could be a very useful player for us.

That is embarrassing. What is even worse is the fact i'm not surprised in the slightest that something like this has happened. I don't know why but since we've been out of the premiership more and more jumped up little ****s have started coming and i for one am completely sick of it. The northam is cringeworthy. I would genuinely consider making certain areas of the ground age restricted. It appears to be the 15-19 year old burberry wearing brigade can't be trusted to be within spitting distance of the away end. So i propose 21s and over in the northam and get the kids to **** off down to the family enclosure.

This thread is laughable. I can't believe so many of our fans have this embarrassing "super fan" attitude. I am happy to admit that i was one of those fans who left early yesterday. I left as soon as the 3rd went. My reasons for leaving? Simply i was totally disatisfied with the 'product' being offered. Why would i continue to subject myself to 20 more minutes of utter drivel when i could be back in the pub laughing and joking with my mates? It's not the first week i've left early either. I frequently leave early when i feel let down by the players and i certainly felt that yesterday. These guys swan around town like they're some kind of superstars. If you can back it up on the pitch then fair enough, but unfortunately none of our boys can. At the end of the day, fans play little or no part whatsoever in influencing the result. This has been proved on numerous occassions. So if as many of us can make these useless overpaid tossers feel about 2 foot tall by leaving 20 minutes early then great. The abuse i copped yesterday for leaving was laughable. I was in my usual seat in the northam. Had a season ticket in there since the new stadium opened and i can safely say that next year i am ****ing off to another part of the ground. Mind you, these little 14-19 year old runts are harmless. All bark and no bite. What some of them need is a good ****ing shoeing from an angry cardiff fan or something. Bring them down a peg or two, becuase quite frankly, they are a complete embarrassment.

Are you for real mate? How can arriving 5 minutes before kick off be a bad thing?! I frequently arrive five minutes AFTER the kick off, for no reason other than i'm usually having such a great time with my mates in the pub drinking. If you want to spend the hour before the game clapping our current crop of useless "professionals" onto the pitch and then off it again whilst taking photos of grounds that have only 3 stands then that's your choice. But don't come on here shouting down people who like to enjoy themselves before the game away from the ground.

I've started reading this forum a lot recently and i am always stunned as to why McGoldrick gets so much abuse. People calling him stuff like "McGoaldrought" is stupid. It is CLEAR that he is very talented with the ball at his feet (his first touch is great, dribbles well, strong) to anyone who knows anything about football. Compare his overall ability to Euell for example, and McGoldrick scrubs up better for most if not all the qualities to being a good front man. I am assuming that the majority of people who hate him and want him sold don't go to games and just judge him on his goal scoring record, which at the minute isn't great but chat to any of the academy coaches down there and they'll all tell you that he is an extremely talented GOALSCORER. These guys aren't all wrong. He will develop into a very good player. People forget, whenever he has played up front it has usually been on his own and he has been completely starved of any service. Give the guy time, let him develop and get off his back.
