  2. Hey, leave me out of it, okay? ;-) I know my fitness needs a lot of work, but there's no need to bring it up here :-D
  3. Essentially Farmery is saying "They're making it up as they go along"... which is apt, for this Pythonesque comedy of ineptitude https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGaDrE8xXG4
  4. I see they managed to get a shot on target...
  5. If Appy left, perhaps they could get a new manager on loan? A month by month deal would be favourite, you'd have thought... Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  6. He's definitely in with a shout for "Biggest B*ll*cks of the Year" award. I get queasy on a medium height diving board - and I certainly wouldn't do even a standard parachute jump. Fair play to him - hope it all goes well
  7. He could find a job as a teacher. Which would work out, just as long as he doesn't run off with one of his new pupils...
  8. The same goes with any sport. The money is there from TV coverage and sponsorship, so surely those people who actually provide the entertainment deserve to get a fair cut of that money - even if it turns out to be mind-boggling figures for us ordinary people. When you compare what top F1 drivers get to what top tennis or golf players get, the outrageous sums don't seem quite so outrageous. On the other hand, compare what F1, tennis, golf and footy guys get to motorcycle racers - whether it's MotoGP, Superbike and particularly road racers... well there's a bunch of guys who really should be getting mind-boggling sums of money, but who don't. Back to Lewis - bloody stupid move, IMHO. It's all about the money, and nothing to do with going for race wins or world championships. I'm sure Mercedes sweet-talked him with tales of investment, no.1 status and competitive cars... but look at their history. Since they were BAR that team has had huge amounts of money, and consistently underperformed year in, year out. They had one season where they got lucky by figuring out a loophole that few other teams did - and used it to win the title with Button. But even then, their lack of development meant that they were struggling in the last half of the season. Whilst Sergio Perez isn't in the same league at Lewis yet, he's shown great talent and I reckon is probably the best driver McLaren could have got (and there are some really good other drivers they could have gone for). The staggering thing is that Sergio was part of the Ferrari young driver programme, and they should have been looking make him team-mate to Alonso. Instead, by seemingly sticking with Massa for yet another year they've let this very talented young driver go to a major rival.
  9. Wow. A whole 61 votes. There are that many POL users left?
  10. We only have one rival. End of.
  11. Great strength and marksmanship by Rickie for his first, and what a gorgeous chip by Ramirez for the second. The less said about our defending for Villa's goal the better...

If you're ever in Sholing, and you want to go to town...
  13. I spent a week in Vegas a few years ago, and the one thing I would thoroughly recommend is a Grand Canyon trip. We did a sunset trip with Sundance Helicopters and it was utterly stunning. Went out in the late afternoon, set down in the canyon (kind of on a plateau, above the floor of the canyon but below the rim) had a bite to eat and then back to Vegas as the sun set, ready for a fly-by down the strip in darkness.

  15. If he starts diverting more NHS cash into homeopathy (God help us, he actually believes that it works ), it potentially could affect anyone who doesn't get a medicine or treatment that's been proved to work because there isn't the money for it.
  16. Ahh... clearly I'm far from the only one, then! I didn't particularly like him when he played for Man U, and on many occasions I questioned how on earth he got into the England squad, let alone the starting eleven. I wasn't expecting much at all when he went to Sky - but boy, was I wrong. He's interesting, articulate, knows the game extremely well - and is really good at explaining it. What's more, despite his long association with Man U, he's completely fair and unbiased - that goes for the match on Sunday, and in his review of the week, talking about Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc... not a hint of red-tinted glasses. In a very short space of time I've gone from not being able to stand him, to having huge respect for him.
  17. Okay, maybe I'm completely confused about the situation, but I thought: a) DFCSBs were still under a transfer embargo, which meant that... b) They can only "sign" players under one month "uncontracted" terms, which meant that... c) According to someone who posted the exact rules on this a few days (couple of weeks?) ago (apologies - but this thread moves on far too quickly!) the players weren't tied to the club and therefore would be free to sign for any other club without impediment from DFCSBs If it turns out that DFCSBs are actually signing these players on proper contracts which does stop the players from playing for another club until January at the earliest, how have they managed to get past the transfer embargo?
  18. Oops! Double post
  19. But he then goes on to say that he didn't actually see the incident - so he's slagging-off the ref for losing the plot in the heated atmosphere of a half-empty stadium, and getting a decision completely wrong regarding an incident that Unappy himself claims he didn't see. The complete lack of logic would have Mr Spock foaming at the mouth!
  20. I completely agree. Let's just sign him already and see what he can do on the pitch. In fact, even if the deal falls through I'll feel disappointed that it's not worked out, but relieved that we can forget about it at last.
  21. Quite simple. All they have to do is agree to Bologna's terms (or just get closer to their demands than we have) and the deal could be done pretty quickly. They don't have to go through two week's worth of arguing/negotiating/faffing about*. * Delete as appropriate
  22. That's me. Don't have the time these days for modding... I can just about handle a bit of lurking
  23. What are their squad numbers? Have any of the other mods had their squad numbers changed to make way for the new recruits?
  24. Nice of 'Appy to host the "press conference" in his front room.
  25. I want to ask how on earth they're able to field a new "player" when they're still under a transfer embargo... but of course, this is Portsmouth. Normal rules don't apply
