Didn't someone make a comment that the club thought AL would be more injury prone as he got older, so perhaps it is something that they consider when offers come in.

I wonder if some of you would sign this petition to try to force the PL to provide more money to grass roots football. It only takes a couple of minutes and the next generation deserve to have half decent facilities to learn to play the beautiful game. I know a few of you coach at GR level, have your own blogs etc so any further distrubution of the cause would be appreciated. What harm can it do to sign up? They were 4 rows behind me. A cameraman and photographer were talking to him 20 minutes before the game which is when I noticed him. At half time he dashed across the row with the flowers to her and walked down the stairs with her - that's when the photo above was obviously taken. Seemed to be getting on alright.

On Friday, a mate of mine told me he was in the same hotel as the team the night before this game for his work party and someone set the hotel alarm off at 3pm, getting the whole squad up. Also, I was driving north on the m42 yesterday and saw the first team coach going south. No idea what it had been doing, seemed a funny time to see it travel that way tbh.

Your nose not being allowed inside the glass when you drink is a funny one - self explanatory, two fingers of beer if you do. Jacks - standard pack of cards, shuffled. Deal out the cards face up. 1st Jack out names a shot, goes into a half pint glass, carry on dealing, 2nd jack out names another drink, which is mixed into the first (so you end up with JD and Port, for example), carry on dealing, 3rd jack out pays for the drink, carry on dealing, 4th jack out has to down the lot. That can get messy.

Perhaps it is the "team" off the pitch that we need to ensure we retain, rather than the one on it at any given point in time, in that respect.

Saturday 4th April, 2009, I took my son, aged 3 years, 1 month, to his first game, because at the time I wasn't sure we would survive and get out of administration and I wanted to tell him he'd gone to see the Saints (we lost 3-2 to Charlton and he's not brought us much luck in subsequent visits, tbh). I think "Saved Southampton Football Club" is just about right. What a journey these last 5 years have been, though. Very proud to be a Saints fan today.

I went to Chelsea's training ground at Cobham earlier in the year and I'm sure they had over 30 pitches there (38 rings a bell).

I always liked the "Knock, Knock!" start.... Knock, Knock!! Who's there? Owen!! Owen who? O When the Saints...........

Great story and what a nice touch from the club. I have a lot of time for Feyenord and the fans ever since we played there in a friendly many years ago (2001) and occasionally wear the Feyenord shirt I bought on that trip to home games - maybe I'll hang around reception and blag my way into the dressing room next time!!!

A colleague once returned to his car that he had badly parked in a local residential street. He reached for the handle to open the door to find someone had smeared dog sh1t under it.......

I guess the good thing about this is that (currently) there is no need to rush him back and he can recover and get game time at a sensible rate.

RK tweeted a picture of his son and a group of his mates in Saints shirts ready to come to the game last night, I wonder if he is/was part of that group??

I know you can see where he is in real time, via the GPS tracker, but is there anywhere that shows his proposed route in advance? I'm wondering where he will go when he leaves Crystal Palace on Friday morning down towards Hampshire as I'm not too far away from Croydon.
