  1. Deflection into keepers arms from the free kick.
  2. Saints corner, Greame Murty commentating on R5LSX - comes to nothing.
  3. Commentary will be on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra after the end of the Brum/Millwall game currently on, btw. Come on you Saints!!
  4. Yes, just radio - better than nothing though.
  5. FA Cup games are avaliable free (in the uk) online - try the bbc site.
  6. This. And it has nothing to do with my tenner on us to win tomorrow at 6/4, honest!
  7. Took my 3yo nipper to his first game in April of the season when it looked like we would go bust, just so I could tell him he went. He has a 100% win record. I'd say that was too young though, they can't concentrate and from 20 minutes in, he wanted to go. My advice is to take things they can play with/do/colour in/break/eat etc - avoid lots of drink early on, as you'll be in the loo more often than in your seat (took my nephew to the Dell and make that mistake - cue huge roar and when I asked a steward what happened, he replied "a Matty screamer!". My nephew never saw Matty score ever again). I'm tempted to do one of the hospitality things for £49+vat next time, since he'll be free to come with my (he's 5 now) and would get more out of it that way, I think.

    Goals

I thought Guly's was a very composed bit of football. Barney won the ball back, nicking it off a D&R player, fed Guly, who lost the first marker with the way his first touch moved the ball, and did well to cut inside the other defender to slot home.
  9. Very happy with recent results. With only Bompey of the top sides playing in the league next Saturday, we won't lose out due to the cup either.
  10. Just noticed Blackpool have Liverpool at home the following weds, in their rearranged game, which might make Holloway rest a few and make that even more winnable. Come on Saints, goal now pls.....
  11. When you say "they" I only remember one on here. I'm sure we have about the same number doing the same right now. I'm pretty happy with what we're going right now, building a good run and quietly gaining ground and when whatever monkey is on Rickies back right now is gone, a few more scorelines like tonight to come. Hopefully.
  12. I occasionally drink with a Huddersfield ST holder (not bad, seeing as he drives 240 miles from Surrey for each home game for him) and he does not rate Lee Clarks tactics at all in terms of formation and substitutions, so I think the way we are currently playing will make it a little easier than it might seem. It is well worth keeping an eye out on here : http://www.htfc-world.com/ a few days after the game. Some of the old match cartoons/movies are really funny.
  13. get your coat.....
  14. http://www.soccerbase.com/cup2.sd?competitionid=58&seasonid=106 Don't know about the sending off, but the rest is correct.
  15. I haven't seen enough of Martin to comment on him, but after the Sutton friendly, I posted saying I would be surprised if Jaidi lasted the season with us and I'm still of that opinion. I think Jaidi will give away too many free kicks for either being too slow to the ball and therefore fouling people or for climbing all over them to win headers in dangerous positions. Looking past this season, I can't seen any way in which he will be involved next season.
  16. I think you've got to put into perspective where we are when looking at attendances. We're likely to have the biggest addendance outside the Prem, and possibly more than one or two Prem games (Leeds/Millwall in the Championship may be big, but it's on Sky at midday, a lot of well supported Prem sides are at home on Saturday) Hopefully, however many go, we'll make enough noise to blow Leyton Orient away on the day. I'm looking forward to it, and in some ways it'll be a day to give thanks to the past and move on to the future. 3-1 the Saints. WIFM.
  17. "The One and Only" - absolute rubbish song, but when played at the end of Matts testomonial with all the clips of his goals, with all the players, his family etc, absolutely awesome.
  18. He played up front for them against Wolves in the FA Cup and scored a 7 minute "perfect" hat trick. Palace ST holders at work tell me he's got a good shot on him and that they used to pull the ball back from corners to him occassionally to have a crack. Very interested in the mixed comments today about Jaidi - I wasn't impressed by him against Sutton and will be surprised if he lasts the season.
  19. No one is pretending he's Messi, he clearly has limitations, but his commitment is also clearly beyond doubt and it is that that the majority of posters on this thread are trying to point out - do you disagree?
  20. This. The worst kind of pro is the one with ability but obviously playing without a care for his employer or the fans. PW had his front teeth kicked out playing for us. He's never going to get his face on SaintsWeb banner, but he has at least tried.
  21. I didn't see it as a Jaidi mistake (but he did have a mixed game). Davis called for the ball, Jaidi left it and Davis got beaten to it by the striker. You could argue the ""safety first" line, but the call was loud and clear and you would expect the defender to leave it under those circumstances.
  22. I went to the game today. 1st half was poor, Sutton worked hard and played well (they had beaten Palace 2-1 in a previous game there). I thought Jaidi was poor at the back and will give away a lot of free kicks if he keeps leaning over players with both hands for headers. That said, Davis was at fault for the goal - he came out and clearly called for the ball, which Jaidi then let past, only for Davis not to make it in time and the striker go round him for a tap in. 2nd half was better, Oxlain-Chamberlain got into the game a bit more, but isn't the finished article yet and Holmes huffed and puffed but seemed to overrun the ball a lot. I liked Mills getting up and down on the left, but when you consider that our first shot on target from open play was mid way through the second half, we should be doing better. Yes, we were missing (creative) players today, but I would expect that team to have produced more. When it matters, they'll have to step up to the plate.
  23. I guess the thing to do with the argument about the depth of the squad it to write down your 1st choice team, then take out the 3 most important players and pretend they have long term injuries and replace them with the squad players left and see how comfortable you'd be with that team for 10 games.
  24. Frobes Phillipson-Masters? I'll get my coat......
  25. Thats quite a list, but its a list of journeymen (at this point in time) if you're honest. I think we'll have quite a busy summer - the BBC have us linked back with Scott Arfield (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/f/falkirk/8683368.stm) from Falkirk this morning for starters.
