    Rodrigues

Some interesting trivia - he is the last man to pick up the FA Cup from the Queen.
  2. This article seems to imply that Ipswich have a few issues at CB, which may be good news for us - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14528716.stm I expect it to be a tough test, but no reason why we can't keep the run going. August is going to be a tough month, but so far, so good.
  3. I never said that, did I? I'm pretty happy with both our keepers at this level tbh and I fully agree with the rest of your post. The Kraken is right, I'm not saying it never worked, just that a few times in the game it was wide of the mark I'd expect him to hit. That said, I'll be a happy man at the end of the season if that's the only criticism I can level at him!!
  4. Fair play to them indeed, but to say they didn't hear the home crowd sing until we were 3-0 up is just not true. One of the Sunday papers I read today commented on the fact that the Leeds fans went silent for a while, which was a compliment to our play and to their support, tbh. The article itself is pretty fair, the comments thereafter are with the same pink tainted glasses we have sometimes.
  5. Fair enough to kick long, but kick long within 10 feet of your target, surely that's not beyond expectation of a Championship keeper?? More than once, Ricky and Connolly "paired up" for the kick and it went no where near them and they both let him know.
  6. I agree with that - Ricky and Connolly were going mental at him a couple of times when they lined up together (Rickie to win the first ball, Connolly to pick up the scraps) and Kelvin just couldn't pick them out. Great start, happy to see Connolly start and get a goal, having gone E/W at 175/1 on him being top scorer! :^)
  7. Keep the above text safe somewhere - I'm hoping you'll need it a lot this season!

    Saturday

I'm going to go with my 5yo nipper. Where he goes to school, they do "Chelsea Football" as a lunchtime club, so he's having his allegiances realigned by an 'effin big funfair and as many chips as he wants....
  9. And from the jpt set list, I'd like to see This is War by 30 seconds to Mars belted out during the build up. Quality song to get the crowd in the mood.
  10. I think a gray scale crest instead of the colour one would look good on that.
  11. Its on the sky sports web site - try http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0,,12612_6917917,00.html
  12. Plymouth lost, so if Walsall get a point today at home to Charlton, Plymouth are down and Walsall are safe - both good for us.
  13. There's no need, we should support the care in the community policy. Joking apart, it's not on, is it. Do it on the pitch next season.

    Help Needed

v Leicester 13 Dec 1997. Free Kick, header, back of the net, everyone going mental. That summed up Saints and was truly brilliant (for the scorer).
  15. Having hold of 10's shreds with his left hand, Kev starts the famous "St Marys Victory Surprise Wedgie Countdown".....5.....4......3......
  16. I know this may just be the way you're written it, but the games today are 15:00 kick off's not evening games according to the BBC site.
  17. To be fair, if they don't lose Poyet next season, I think they'll do quite well. I can see both sides doing a Leeds/Norwich. What odds on a double back to back promotion I wonder?? Might be worth a speculative fiver...
  18. Brightons win also means they are champions. Just in time for us to spoil their party.
  19. So that will mean Lallana won't actually miss a game and Chamberlain would (probably) miss MK Dons and Charlton, possibly back for Leyton Orient. Given the number of fixtures in League one in the next two weeks for other sides, it's not the worst time for them to have knocks. It's the period between 23rd April and May 7th that is going to be critical, so as you say, the rest may be a good thing.
  20. I don't know what people are basing their predictions of Charlton away on. They are 2nd to bottom of the form tables for the last 8 games, and 5th from bottom of the "last 5 at home" table. I think MK Dons at home is far harder (they are top of the "last 5 away" chart - http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/aform.html). I'd be delighted with 9 points, happy with 7, and disappointed with 6 or less, given current form and the feeling that to go up automatically, we probably can't afford to lose 2 games from here on in, as we will draw a game or two we should win.

    Saints on sky

Ireland/England is on at 17:00 that day. My local (Surrey) unsurprisingly won't be showing the Saints game because of it - there would be 300 rugby fans down one end of the pub and me at the other!! Anyone not living in or around Southampton would be advised to check with their locals too, I'd imagine.
  22. In their next 8 games, they have got to play 3 of the current top 6 (MK Dons and Huddersfield away, Bompey at home) and the form team, Leyton Orient, away. We play 2 of the current 6 (MK Dons home, Brighton away) plus Leyton away and Charlton twice, who are slipping off the pace quite nicely. I think they will struggle to match our points total over that period.
  23. ?? BBC says Notts County 1 up, BWP missed a pen to level.
  24. I can put up with the friendly banter, but if you use that name again, it'll be pistols at Bucklands on the A25 at dawn, mate!! That's made my Old Speckled Hen taste sour, that has. And Mods, how did that slip past the swear word filter thingy, ffs!!! Having read all this thread in one go, it's refreshing that it hasn't degenerated and fair play to the B&HA contributers for that. You can't argue with the league table, and I've no grips with them being top on merit. Personally, I couldn't care less if we don't win the league, so long as we go up second, although my Palace ST holding work mates aren't too happy about it. Seagulls points were all valid and football, as we know, is a team game, so while we probably do have the better individuals, it counts for nothing if the team can't perform together. As a genuine question to the B&HA posters, how long do you think Poyet will stay? I do rate him and it'll be interesting if a job in the Prem comes up that he fancies.
  25. This - http://www.ojohaven.com/collectives/ - says the collective noun is "A Calendar Of Saints", which I quite like. Can the copy of my book have Deppo's train on the back, ta.
