  1. A facebook friend posted a pic of his kids with AL, who they saw in the club shop today and posted that AL told them it would be a couple of more weeks - here's hoping....
  2. Get ahead of the game - I've literally just finished those two now to be frozen (CB, try adding a dash of vodka to the Cranberry, fella!). My red cabbage was braised with balsamic vinegar, raisins, apples and onions too. Write a plan for the day it and stick to it - mine always has a slot for a family hour in my local round the corner. If you don't fancy roast spuds (or want a second dish), thinly slice some maris pipers, some sweet apples and some celeriac, chop some garlic, cover in double cream and simmer until soft, put into an oven proof dish - freeze it at this point, or cook for about 30 minutes in the oven.
  3. Cheers, Rickie, could you whack me on the back one more time fella, that wasn't the only thing that cVut Roberts made me swallow at the Xmas party - it won't help, but it may make me forget the taste.....
  4. I wouldn't disagree there, but to some extent I do have an influence - I coach my lads U7 team, so how they behave is a reflection on how I coach them to play, and how I let their parents behave when they watch them - luckily, the parents have been good so far......
  5. http://bombsight.org/#9/51.4532/0.2980 Very chilling when you zoom right out and can see the scale of the bombing.
  6. My old man dedicated over 50 years to the game as a ref in the Surrey and Hampshire leagues and then later on as an assessor (he assessed one current Premiership ref and 2 Premier lino's in their early careers) and had a few "interesting" moments in his time. I once asked him what he did if there was ever a mass punch up during the game and he said you just stand back and let them sort it out, then act afterwards. Things like the death of the Dutch lino last weekend (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20638608) are thankfully rare, but just shows how important the FA Respect campaign is at grass roots level.
  7. The new solo album by ex Gene frontman, Martin Rossiter, at home. Very fine indeed.
  8. They have the world club championship (whatever its called) that weekend, so that original date has been cancelled. Don't think it's been given a firm revised date yet, probably sorted once they are out of the CL I suspect.

  10. I wouldn't worry about it too much, fella - Saint Charlie will get bored shortly and move onto someone else's golden posts..... :^)
  11. Ahhhhhh, apologies Weston, I shall get onto my MP straight away and demand an explanation for this latest BBC injustice. Dear Penny........
  12. I may have missed this in the last day or so, but anyway, Blackburn Rovers fans trust have raised 3M in share purchases to fund a take over. How much have the bestest got again, someone remind me.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-20477754
  13. Classic Half Man Half Biscuit.... [video=youtube_share;na12OyJEgJ8]
  14. writing the email telling her to have the next one in the close season, presumably. Congrats, btw.
  15. Kasabian, Editors and (the lesser known, but equally as good in their short existence) JJ72 also played there. Great little venue, it would be a shame if it went.
  16. Obviously we've got to get some points on the board for it to matter, but Villa's next 3 games are ManUre (H), City (A), Arsenal (H)

    Wayne Bridge

A Brighton ST holder at work tells me they are paying 10K of his 80K a week salary while on loan there.

  19. There are plenty of candidates from every era, but I recently re-read the entry for Nick Holmes from that book, and he very much deserves his place in that list.
  20. Not an accumulator, but the 11/4 Paddy Power have on us being the top promoted side looks tempting.... http://www.paddypower.com/football/uk-football/premier-league?ev_oc_grp_ids=484522
  21. Watched the whole game via a stream and think Yoshi deserves a double tick too - looked very solid. Fox off at HT was the trick, much better thereafter. Gaston was just class - lets hope the others can get on his wave length!! Happy days.
  22. I did say the last seven, and I'd only count Spurs away as a big team in that - being greatly disrespectful to everyone else in that list, I grant you!! But in the spirit of a debate, I looked at the first 4 fixtures and thought Wigan at home was the only real chance of a win, anything else from the others was a bonus. We have played well against the 2 Manchester sides and it is more of a disappointment that we were in a position to take points but ultimately didn't fro those two games and a greater disappointment that we didn't play as well against Wigan and lost. However, I don't feel Wigan will be a lower third team this year, so losing at home to Reading/West Ham would be more of a disaster to me in that respect. If we're after our usual finishing position this season, then we can't afford to drop too many more points from here on in - :^)
  23. Whats the stats on promoted teams who have played last years top 2 in their first 3 games? 3 of our first 4 games were "bonus" games - anything you get out of them was extra. Wigan may well prove to be a very good side this year, although we didn't play well that day (I did go). Lets see where we are after 10 games, that will be a better reflection. On the plus side of our fixtures, aren't the last 7 games about as good as you would of hoped for as a promoted side? Swings and roundabouts...
  24. He's a player/coach at Sutton now. Didn't feature in the U21 game there pre season though.
  25. They misheard "Southampton way" for "South Coast way" and got the wrong one.....
