Funny coincidence, mayuka got injured in his first game in charge but was having a great game. Can t help but think that ligue 1 is not the same type of game as the premier ligue and that we have moved on as a club and mayuka doesn't have the level to play here.

I think he just doesn't have the required physical attributes. He is not somebody who is going to run all over the place to recover a ball or to take the ball off the opposition. Cross field diagonal balls to me are not long balls as they probably have a higher completion rate. Long balls to me would be balls that defenders kick up top to the front men (Lambert's flick ons that don't usually come off or the duel is lost to the central defender)

You do have a point. And it was one the reasons why we were not able to keep the ball against Norwich. The ones who were hoofing it up to the front were mainly Fonte, Fox, Lovren and Chambers. Deliberate tactic? If it was, then it didn't work on Saturday.

We are too predictable, we got out of jail last season by pressing teams and stifling. This season teams are doing the exact same thing to us and we end up losing the ball or kicking long punts upfield and we end up losing it as well. I really think we lack raw pace in our team, pace scares defenders and creates space for other players. It just all looks so tight at the moment when we are in the final third.

Kana biyik is class, has a very good reputation in France. Defenders in the French league are very under rated and we could do worse than take another center back from there. I agree that Hoiveld is a liability, how many own goals and mistake that lead to goals was he accountable for? Too many. If Mo doesn't rate fonte as much as Hoiveld then he doesn't have a future here. If we bring in another top center back, then the defense to me is sorted. Fox is an adequate replacement for Shaw, yes he is not perfect but not many defenders are prepared to play second fiddle. As for chambers, not many people predicted Shaw to become first choice last season. If we are not prepared to give him a chance, then our policy of giving youth a chance goes down the drain.

If we are still looking for a center back, Mamadou Sako has just announced he wants to leave PSG. Fits the young player with bags of potential, would be a brilliant signing. He is also a current French international. Apparently, Ac Milan and Liverpool are interested

Terrible signing at 15m. He had a good season at Lille 2 years ago but can t help but think he is a one season wonder.

Well I for one love all these rumors, it keeps things interesting during the summer. I don't really care who broke the news story first. That being said, the only time I believe any deal is done is when the news story is posted on the OS. Relax people and enjoy the ride. Well, I live in Paris and most of my friends are french and follow the Ligue 1 league closely. When I texted 2 of them that we were interested in Lovren for 10 m euros, one texted me "aie" which means ouch in french and the other one said "you can do better for that price, Lyon fans can't wait to get rid of him." Browsing Lyon forums later in the week seemed to confirm this.

No he didn't, he became the 4th choice center back this season after playing well last season and being one of the first names on the teamsheet. I don't think his relationship with Remi Garde and Jean Michel Aulas helped things. As for his attributes, the general concensus amongst most Lyon fans is that he is not tactically aware, not very quick and not very good on one on one situations.
