Its not about a kamikaze tactic, playing a high line is perfectly fine. You just to find the right balance between when to do and when not.
-
Vestergaard is not suited to a high line at all.
-
Why are you talking about him going after 2 bloody games, him having signed a 4 year contract in June ? Are you efing dumb?
-
It is not a case of should we back Ralph, it is obvious the club would do it but we do not have the finances to do this. This is what happens when you have to sell before you buy. We are the only club in the PL to do this. But what I cannot understand Is the decision to let midfield players go (Reed Lemina) before we can a CM in. This is as suicidal as our high line defending today. Likewise I hope we don’t sell Boufal if we have no replacement lined up.
-
Replace Tella with Boufal and we wouldn’t be saying that
-
What I find incredibly disappointing is that Lemina played under Bielsa at Marseille for 2 years, was one of his linchpins in center midfield. Marseille were one of the best pressing teams so saying Mario doesn’t fit Ralph’s style of play is a load of bollox. It was Bielsa’s departure from Marseille that pushed Mario to Juventus, he admitted that years later. I’m sure personalities clashed between Mario and Ralph and that is a shame because he is exactly what we need in center midfield. He will take Reed s place in center mid for Fulham and will forge a nice partnership with Zambo Anguissa, that I can guarantee you as he is a better footballer than Reed.

It is like this at every start of the season. Last year the Danny Rohl fiasco went well into october until it was announced he had joined Bayern. This year it is a global lack of communication, no coverage of pre season, no focus on new signings made. It is all very well having a CEO on every now and then updating fans on when if they can return to the stadium and how his relationship with is rock solid since 9-0 spanking but you need a lIttle more than that.
-
Exactly this. Trimming down the squad and getting rid of the deadwood is one thing, but how do you replace them adequatly if we can t pay a considerable transfer fee. we re nearly coming to the stage of needing to sell some ‘star’ player to be able to have some wiggle room in the transfer Market but that s the state of our finances and playing squad right now. We re in a very complicated situation and the longer Gao stays the worse it will get
-
With what money can we exactly do that? i m sure we would like to do it but I don t think we have the means.
-
I thought our squad was overbloated andwe couldn t recruit because of this
-
We don’t as the squad would get too big.

Exactly the point i ve been making for a few days. It will probably mean that we don’t replace him and just bring in a CM. if we replace Boufal expect a loan deal and that s about it.
-
Selling Boufal for 2m euros is shocking
-
Squad is looking very thin by all accounts: Also assuming that we sell Boufal with no replacement our squad Compared to last season: out Cedric, Yoshida, Hojbjerg, Boufal in: Salisu Walker-Peters a New CM is the priority but even with that, the squad is weaker. i m struggling to see how we can make top 10 when others have considerably stregthened. 12th-16th is more likely imo

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

Getting rid of players like Carillo Lemina and Hoedt might help us from a wage perspective but that s only going to help us buy one player as to buy a player you need to pay a transfer fee. We will hardly get transfer fees for them so the saved wages will have to cover the transfer fee of the additional player. It is still going to be a one in one out policy if we continue with Gao. selling the deqdwood is not gonna change that. -
-If we are counting on Romeu to be a starter for the whole season in midfield then we are in big trouble. -Right winger is not Smallbone’s position. Again if Boufal leaves, we are very light in the winger position. As soon as we get an injury to Redmond or Armstrong, we will get found out. 1st half doesn’t bode well Our play is too slow and we seem to have introduced diagonal balls since last season which can be a good tactic if Opposite teams are playing narrow.

I m convinced that it is good too. You don’t succeed without investment. If this guy is prepared to invest to increase the value of the club then what is wrong with that? You still need to adhere to financial fair play so the only way so it is not going to be a full blown out investment. And what is wrong with having multiple clubs like the city group? It just means we have partner club with same principles where we can send youngsters out on loan. As long as we keep our tradition with the academy and Ralph is on board with this, it is much better news that hzving next to no finance and having to sell before we can do anything -
Ralph said in his presser Djenepo is behind in fitness as he had to quarantine following his holidays in Mali. No sign of Boufal in training pics so it will Smallbone in place of Armstrong with Djenepo and Tella on the bench.

Think it is more complicated than that. Ralph likes him as a player, but does he like him to the point as starting every game in front of Redmond and co? Don´t think so. Plus he only started 8 games last season for several reasons: - He stabbed his toe in the kitchen just as he was in the groove and was absent for a month - when Redmond got injured, it was his chance to shine but corona kicked in and he didn t get it. - he got injured just as project restart started I was told Sofiane has no issues staying provided he is given a real chance to stake his claim. What is important for him is to be fully involved, he doesn’t a bit part role, whether that is at Southampton or elsewhere. Let’s see how this pans out before the end of the window. A good indicator will probably be his involvement in the next few games.
-
Source close to Sofiane’s people. A departure is definitely not a given as Ralph likes Boufal and wants him to stay. Board is pushing for a departure as they want to recoup some money.
-
According to my source, Ralph does not want Boufal to leave.
-
Just take somebody on loan with an option to buy next summer. clubs who are skint do that all the time. No need to take risks and spend money on players who weren t on our initial list of targets.
-
Hum does t really look skillful powerful or fast, not at all what we are looking for. hope this is BS

What i Find a bit worrying is that they didn t have a plan in place before the Leicester game. what the hell was Ross Wilson doing as director of football before he left for Rangers? The Guy is an absolute fraud.
