  1. The only difficulty with Camera is that people who have left, are on the outisde, will always be disgruntled in some shape or form. There are plenty of North Korean defectors who have overstated much of the regime, similarly with the former Iraqis. Definitely not questioning Camera as I don't know the chap/chappette, just trying to achieve a little bit of balance with all of this. Some good, some bad, that kind of thing.
  2. but according to wiki he's gone to Huddersfield because they're a bigger club. Ho ho
  3. not subtle enough, they'll never bite.
  4. I have absolutely no opinion on Bournemouth. I don't mind if they think we're rivals, it's cute, but I am no more excited about playing them than any other promoted team.
  5. League of Gentlemen...
  6. according to fb, the trip is 'too hard'.
  7. i would LOVE a regeneration of an area like Portsmouth have done. LOVE it.
  8. i salute you!
  9. Even Dave Whelan, who loves Wigan, is now running the club so that they break even at least every year. What do you expect from our owners exactly?
  10. hypo, why would supporters who have had to suffer two relegations and the near-demise of their club EVER withdraw their support because the club are successful and so they have to pay a bit more? The nature of competitive sport is such that you try to win, all other factors are secondary to this. If somebody stops supporting Saints because they don't want to pay the price that comes with success (which, actually, would be not much more than mediocrity) then they are hypothetically deluded. We supported Saints when they were at their lowest ebb, I'm sure that even in a hypothetical world we'd support them when successful.
  11. +9999999 the 'hypothetical' situation is loaded, ie. it is more conceivable to him that this will happen rather than not. The OP already has an opinion about our regime, starting a hypothetical debate does not detract from that. I could hypothetically ask how we would all feel about our owners putting the club up for sale, thus forcing the sale of Lambert et al and the resignation of Pardew as he doesn't want to work with limited funds in League 1. But remember guys, don't start getting into arguments (or, put another way, debating my MOTIVATION for creating such a situation.)
  12. i think the point is that SMS doesn't generate revenue except for on match-days, which will hinder profitability in the long run. Whether it's at Jacksons Farm or a reclaimed area near the stadium, we will need to have other revenue streams to be able to compete.
  13. Me too! Incredible kit, incredible team... I cannot wait for the new season!
  14. I'm inclined to agree with you about the profitability of it all, because I think that is what drives our entire operation now. It's what too many people on here don't realise- almost everything that the club now does in order to improve its profitability. This obviously derives from success on the pitch combined with marketing and corporate revenue. This isn't happening because Cortese is petulant or incompetent, it is because in the long run it will make the club more money.
  15. But the hype surrounding it was nothing compared to this. The reveal may have looked good and appeared more complete, but it didn't bring as many hits to the site (something that allows for increased advertising revenue) and didn't lead to people like us having, frankly, a ridiculous debate on the merits of marketing.
  16. You don't have to assume it, you just are.
  17. +1. There is nothing incompetent about this marketing, it is a very common tactic and one that works.
  18. Turkish is a ginger.
  19. Woah woah chaps, let's not ridicule the 'sash army' idea just yet. Let it breath for a while and have another go. If it helps, I could present it in handy (and FREE!) installments so it's less offensive? 'S...' etc.
  20. I'm ashamed of my fellow Saints fans. If Pompey had the set up that we've got, NOT ONE OF THEM would complain, they'd be ecstatic. I honestly am astounded that we can complain about things that are so trivial in the grand scheme of things... Cortese needs to sort himself out because of rumours about him being a control freak? What about Cortese sanctioned a manager and playing staff that have brought the pride back to the city? Or did that happen when he was on his tea break? I love this club, but I really dislike some of our fans, and that's sad.
  21. Interesting inability to realise that success as a business is reliant on success on the pitch. They are one and the same. The more successful we are, the more people will want to watch us play, the more sponsorship money we receive, and so more money to build future success. Do you wake up with a smile on your face when it's bad weather so you have something to complain about?
  22. Not if we're top of the league there won't. Plenty of fans will come out of the woodwork. When we've won the division, I hope all of you moaners have the balls to admit how fantastic Cortese will have been for the business.
  23. Back in trouble? What a short memory! These troubles are NOTHING compared to the rubbish we've been dealt in the last few years. Anyone expecting the new regime to be perfect is naive, anyone who sees problems as the beginning of the end even more so. You will never have a club that you agree with every aspect of, unless you buy your own, so stop worrying about things that really don't matter.
  24. if umbro have marketing similar to this cheeky number, i'll be chuffed. http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/rangers-home-shirts-1011_7324
