  1. i tweeted an hour ago asking the same. copycat.
  2. Not so much a good point, but more added speculation. We have no idea if Gorkss wanted to come here, so how do we know what the reasons for the deal not happening are? Similarly, if nothing else, Cortese has shown that he is acting in Southampton's best interests. He isn't being a d*ck because he has a huge ego, rather he is trying to get the most money for our club. Briatore and Cortese are very different characters.
  3. Yeah, probably better to assume everyone is lying than listen to people who've seen him play. I mean, since when have any of Tottenham's youth players failed to make the grade? Never.
  4. Have you not been watching the news recently? It's about greed not need. I want three.
  5. This thread ain't got nothing on the other one. Nothing.
  6. Who cares about the player? The real tussle is between these two threads. Go team 'Ebanks-Blake'!
  7. Now answer truthfully.
  8. This has to be the first time I've encountered somebody actually backing up their argument with some facts. You'll understand if I take a while to respond, need to digest this info! Your point about 37% of men remaining in the bottom quarter seems to me (perhaps wrongly) to be quite positive. That means 63% of men born in 1970 got out of the lowest quarter. Isn't that a good thing?
  9. Top post! Too many posters seem to think that these looters are representatives of the working class.
  10. Could somebody explain to me the 'pampered rich' argument? The more you earn, the higher a percentage of your wages are paid in tax. If somebody wealthy is giving half of a portion of their earnings to the government, how are they more greedy than somebody on a lower percentage?
  11. Where is your evidence for that? I'm happy to get real, but give me a little more to go on. From my own experience, I know absolutely loads of people whose parents were poor but have made it in life. From all sorts of backgrounds too- those who were poor and went to a grammar school, those who failed the 11+, I even know a guy who is now a copper, having been to Oxford despite none of his family ever finishing secondary school.
  12. Because it's easier. Exposure to materialism mixed with a poor work ethic. It doesn't strike me as particularly strange- If you witnessed a murder, would you wait until establishing a motive before calling the perpetrator a murderer? I wouldn't. Causality and reasoning are not part of the definition, just the explanation. Simple stuff. Additionally, have you not read any of the other pages? Most of us have been discussing the reasons too...
  13. St Marco for mayor!
  14. As my idol, I wouldn't want to disagree with you, but actually Millwall have all of their firms in Eltham tonight. By all accounts they have actually managed to frighten off the would-be looters.
  15. Well done for prefering to solve the problem pap. How are you doing that exactly?
  16. If you see, though, Marco was responding to the post which aligned these problems to the fact that the rioters are being left to rot in ghettos. As somebody who grew up in a council house, he can compare himself to them inasmuch as it not being purely due to the environment that they are doing this. Your points about right/wrong are entirely valid, Marco (I believe) was trying to counter the argument that it is because of these people coming from ghettos and being 'left to rot' that they are commiting crime, rather than the actual reason which you note, which is of being taught morality from the family life.
  17. I'd like you to have watched the video when I linked it
  18. So are you suggesting that these unfortunate 'protesters' all passed their exams and weren't let in to University? Or they completed their apprenticeships but weren't offered a job? There are opportunities, they just chose not to take them. It has little to do with which political party is in power, laziness and greed are the issues.
  19. Fantastic post! Anybody suggesting that it is purely the environment causing these problems is as ignorant as can be. I don't see many chaps on the Millwall boards sticking up for the looters, far from it...
  20. If a vigilante group (for Saintsweb consistency let's suggest the EDL) formed to counter these yobs, they'd certainly find themselves some political legitimacy. I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.
  21. [video=youtube;6Gex_ya4-Oo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gex_ya4-Oo&feature=youtu.be Sorry if already posted!
  22. Splendid work trousers. I love a retro quote.
  23. Good point Dalek. Maybe If we'd done that we wouldn't have lost our opening match of the season 3-1. This club really winds me up sometimes!!!!
  24. What do you know?
  25. 'Not based on the fact they beat Leeds 3-1, I'm not that naive' I am that naive to believe him.
