  1. I caught my finger in the safety catch of a ground to air missile launcher at the Burnley game, I had forgotten I had it with me, I thought it was in my other coat. All that after I had made sure for health and safety reasons that I didn't take my water bottle in with the lid on though, silly me.

there were people on here telling them to go stick their sponsorship where the sun don't shine when they fell out with Rupert, but their return to the table is a positive move imo. If they are confident to stick with us and feel their relationship with the club has improved significantly with the obvious staff changes then the future looks brighter. They wouldn't do that at this stage if there was no buyer and we were on the rocks.
  3. Can we have three stands named after Bates, MLT and Paine and have the Northam knocked down and replaced by a steam train?
  4. didn't deliver regularly enough for an international striker on big money, so there is no reason to believe he would be more motivated in a lower league, his heart isn't in it. I would have thought a player with pride might want to go out with a bang for the fans and to show the coach what he is missing but if he would rather slip out sulking with his bottom lip quivering, that's the best way to show the Poland coach exactly what you are made of. We need players for the trenches now, have him and Skacel dig two graves and shoot them. Send the next one in.....
  5. I am bored of slagging off Lowe, but to be the star guest at our opponents' survival party??!......he must be nuts. Why doesn't he abandon the pr and self-promotion, keep his head down and let the comments on here and his attachment to what is left of our club fade away? If I had crashed a train (twice) I wouldn't be hanging around the crematorium waving at the mourners.
  6. Lowe ensured our relegation by just missing the deadline for administration with a company that could have gone at any point in the previous two months. He is now the guest of honour at one of the clubs who benefited from this rather odd move. Mmmmm.
  7. Might be nice to survive first in some form before planning our trip to Wembley, that aside, the release of the fixtures will be a sobering moment, the club's status is there in black and white. Suddenly the nightmare about battling with Yeovil etc is a reality.
  8. He's a good lad who must have wanted to save us as much as we did, so no doubt took relegation badly as a result. Sadly he struggled in a crap team, but £700K is a fair price that could be vital to our survival - a good farewell present for a loyal player as he goes on to better things. We don't want to lose all the youngsters but let's be realistic, there isn't a lot of value in that team, and we need to prepare for future life in anything from League One to the Conference depending on further penalties. And if The Sun reckon they can get two bigs ones for him, we should be getting them to sell our players before it all goes tits up.
  9. the deployment of the dogs to line up and face the Northam was a statement of intent, an aggressive move that was unwise in a volatile atmosphere and like others on here I do think it changed things for the worse. You can't blame the police for any offences BUT it escalated disorder when defusing it would have been the normal tactic. And if that doesn't make sense to you I think you had to be in there and faced by this obviously defiant act to understand how it changed things for those less disciplined members of society. And can we clear up this smoke bomb once and for all, I saw it come out of their section first and then returned from the pitch, but I don't know if I missed it going in there first....I have seen the report of it being lit in the Burnely section, any advance on that?
  10. I didn't hear a whistle in the Northam, I thought he had let the challenge on Wotton go and then stopped the game when players pointed out the seriousness. The whistle was heard elsewhere and it was obviously early, but then again we had a ridiculous three mins in the first half so that balanced that out. He was a **** but he didn't effect the result, or our position in the table. Though my personal favourite was when he gave McGoldrick offside for running along with the ball....
  11. Rumour and gossip aside, the figures have never stacked up. Look at the tranfer money coming in and the cost of the stadium and it doesn't make sense that we are in this state. I would welcome a good look at the accounts in detail - or at least having them explained by someone who understands them! I would like to know the costs of Woodward, manager payoffs, Redknapp, players, agents, and most specifically, dividends and directors' expenses. We can then have a top ten of financial blunders with a number one. After a couple of seasons of accusations it would be good to actually get to the facts and see if we are correct in thinking where the blame lies. We have all summer to fill....
  12. well a couple of hundred quid from any source is welcome, a generous effort and kind of touching that they bothered. Did they have the same look on their faces as they did on the Fratton End when little Nathan popped back for community service and knocked them out of the cup? ''Shhhh'', I believe he said, and they did go quiet. As quiet as they did when Steve Moran scored.... And when Crouchie rolled the penalty in. And when Beattie invited them to be quiet. And when they got hammered in the cup at the Dell. And when Dodd put that corner in. And when Kevin Phillips headed that winner. Funny how they could do so much silence but couldn't manage it when it really mattered for Ted. Oh well. Thanks for the cash.
  13. I know that if I put a few million into a business the first thing I would do is install someone who has proved that he is incapable of running it, and who would also alienate 90% of the customers....I don't think so. This is business at the sharp end, you don't put your money in and let Rupert anywhere near it, he is damaged goods, yesterday's man. They may have been 'associates' but you would have to be mentally ill to think he could be part of rebuilding Saints with your millions.
  14. must say a special thank you to the Pompey fans who paid a few hundred quid to go in the Burnley section today. At a time when we can't afford to hire a coach to get to Forest, their financial support could make the difference between us having a club and not. When their hour of need comes I am not sure I could be as supportive as they have been and put money into the black hole that is the Fratton finances. They really are thick.
  15. No gossip or rumour, just what I saw - Stupid behaviour by a small section of home fans, throwing missiles was pointless and did the club harm. I also saw aggressive policing that escalated events - you don't calm a situation by making the call to deploy officers en masse and dogs, lining them up facing the Northam, it was an aggressive action. I had no interest in invading and had no part in any of the crass activity that followed, I was with the majority who had a quiet walk around, but I was insulted by the way that the police laid down that marker, and in the current climate it was a poor decision. They already have enough cases to defend without looking for trouble. I saw a smoke bomb thrown from the Burnley section, and then returned. Whether it came from the pitch initially I don't know, I first saw it exit the away end, but who takes a smoke bomb to a match? Not a great day for the minority who couldn't find anyone relevant to aim their anger at, but there is no place for the lunatic few at our club and if this type of behaviour went on at away games next season our reputation would be shot to bits. Rather than 'proud Saints going down with massive support' it would be easy for the media to turn it into 'angry supporters fighting the police as Saints go down in shame' etc.
  16. The only premiership ground with horse brasses, an awning and a towbar. Yes they are free of stadium debt but the place is falling down and their business plan is based on champions league income, not scraping through in 16th, so the old house of cards is a wobbling. Wonder how that water borne super stadium hotel complex is going in the harbour, maybe the complulsory purchase of the dockyard and waterfront is proving more complicated than they realised. But we shall see them again in May 2010, it's a date - not like the ones they have with their sisters though....
  17. bloody brilliant! A positive response in a horrendous week. Well done to all concerned for getting off their arses and doing something that genuinely helps the club's predicament, great stuff. Lets be avin you!!! etc Now bring out that awful team for one last time, then we can get on with the rebuild.
  18. can we assume that Rupert treated the bank with the same disdain that he treated the fans? His last scrap of credibility was finally buried yesterday and as soon as there is an available slot I shall be dancing on the grave. On a side issue, I would like it if our administrator sounded a little less like a second hand car dealer and more like a financial whizz kid.....
  19. When the final whistle went I just left my seat, walked out and went home disappointed. Now I know of the option to hang around in the car park with schoolboys shouting abuse at anyone who will pay me attention, I will join in, looks like a great way to spend an hour....so much less scary that talking to girls or playing computer games.
  20. But we are well beyond worrying about the state of this particular team or even the relegation battle, this game is about saving the club. So anyone who doesn't buy a ticket for this game can never call themselves a Saints fan again.
  21. If we survive, fans should have to produce their ticket stub from the Burnley game at every future home match, especially any cup games against united! And there is NO excuse, you don't even have to go, just buy a ticket. Might be worth getting it laminated if you intend to be around for a while....
  22. WE ALL KNOW THIS TEAM SHOULD BE PUT DOWN but show a bit of loyalty to the history of this club and get your arse down the ticket office. The club is a sick mongrel, but there are people who were quite happy to run around Crufts with it having their pictures taken but now the old faithful friend ain't so good they have stuck it in a bag and dumped it in the Itchen. Shameful.
  23. THIS IS NOT NEWS, it is why most of us have bought tickets to watch our worst ever team get relegated this weekend!! Forget all the boll0x everyone, just save the club by buying tickets even if you don't want to go. I thought everyone had woken up to the state of the finances by now......but apparently not.
  24. It's getting late, I'll do four for a quid now.........
  25. roll up, roll up!! Fill the big tent one more time for the last ever appearance of the post-Rupert Flying Dutchmen's Circus and Freak show. See clowns dressed as defenders, be amazed at midfielders juggling ludicrous pay packets and marvel at forwards who can represent their country and play champions league but are incapable of hitting a plump Jersey's arse with a banjo. Bring the kids if they have been naughty, it won't be entertaining but look beyond the useless acts assembled by the ruddy-faced looney ringmaster, just be there for the future of the club! Or if you are of a nervous disposition, buy a ticket but stay at home.
