If we knew for sure that a takeover was highly unlikely, then we could "smell the coffee" and move on. Look at alternatives such as a fans run club. Maneuver the troops so to speak. I know fans run clubs just don't happen overnight, and there are many issues to be addressed, but I would prefer brainstorming on these forums over dreaming of a knight in shining armor.

Is that assuming that the new owners can buy it outright (out of their own pocket), without the need to pay interest to a finance company or investor returns? Do we know much about who these consortiums are and what, if any, conditions are being placed (ie investors want a % of profit or payments at set times). Or are they just "giving money away"? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. Lots of threads and posts to get through !!

Depends really. If you're looking to assett strip the club, then maybe it's a worthwhile medium to long term investment. I don't understand building regs tbh, and what conditions sms was built on. And i don't understand the full ins and outs of Jackson's Farm (I haven't been paying attention have I !!!). But you could easily shut stands down at sms to reduce operating costs for a few years and run from a very low wage budget. Sell what we've got in talent (lol!!!), to pay the mortgage. Just keep it ticking over until the economy looks a bit better and then develop on the land? If we're "real" for a moment, then you're kinda spot on crouchi. Wonder how many we will take to places like Carlisle ... 1) Next season. 2) After 5 seasons in the lower leagues. 3) After 10 plus years in the lower leagues. Agreed. All 4532 of us (2 being Hartlepool supporters ... or whoever we're playing in leagues 1/2 over the next 30 years). Just praying we will still have a club to support next year. I really fear the reduced income from gates will put investors off. All we will be left with is asset strippers imho. And we wont "walk" any league with a small wage budget.

Tough one this. Leo Fortune West would deffo be top on my shopping list. Then I would want a "second squad" like Man U and the Arse have for European games. This would enable us to keep our Johnstone's Paint Trophy dreams alive. Lets not put all our eggs in one basket (or stollen tesco trolley).
