  1. but should we all dress up as Captain Jack Sparrow on the last away game of the season in honour of Osvaldo?
  2. although he probably cost twice as much as our whole team of sports scientists
  3. It's the exact type of thing he was pilloried for. The problem being that at the time, rugby was about a decade ahead of football in terms of sports science.
  4. I feel slightly sorry for Sharp. It's been made pretty clear that he's not wanted by the club but my understanding is that the club don't really talk to him. When he went on loan to Forest, there was no call from the chairman or manager to tell him he was going (and he had a really good relationship with NA at S****horpe) or to wish him well. My understanding is that it was all done through his agent. If he still thinks there's a hope of Celtic, I think he should hold out for CL football.
  5. He's just joined Getafe on loan
  6. good to hear that Chambers doesn't look out of place
  7. Or there is still clamour for us to sign a player that will provide him with compettion. Why can't they play together?
  8. A good false nine can drag a middle defender out of position for the ball striker to nip through and power in a net disturber
  9. I'd like to think that when R.Madrid buy Bale, Spurs get one of the worst players in Spanish footballing history on a long contract and inflated wages as part of the deal.
  10. Saints v Bristol Rovers?
  11. I always thought he had great potential...as a builder.
  12. He's going to Celtic
  13. I reckon Mike Ashley has about half a million reasons to keep Pardew at Newcastle and it has nothing to do with his contract
  14. I'm sure Turkish is right if not its Bournemouth. It's one of the south coast clubs beginning with B.
  15. Kraken, you misunderstand. At the moment players get a large basic salary AND performance bonuses. The barca model is to cut the basic salary pretty much in half and weight the majority of the salary to performance related pay. To say this has been happening in British football for decades is quite wrong and equally laughable.
  16. In all fairness to him, we couldn't get a work permit so he went back to Russia and did quite well for himself. Anders Svensson was a disappointment for me but not once did we play to his strengths and Strachan didn't know how to deploy a creative midfielder. I expected more from people like Hirst, Howells and Hughes. Maybe we shouldn't sign older players whose name begins with H.
  17. True, but new financial fair play rules mean that you can't pay players huge basic salaries any more. Seeing that Cortese has used Barcelona as an example before, my impression would be that he's taken a leaf from their book and added in performance related pay triggers (which are exempt from FFA regs) in order to say to incoming players "if the club does well, you'll do well" which I think works well as far as negotiation and selling his vision of the club works.
  18. If I had to trust anyone's judgement on an international class centre back, it would be our current manager
  19. Good to hear this has all been sorted out so quickly and Turkish & family can watch us march into Europe together!
  20. Seconded. I just don't understand why some people are so miserable. It's sunny outside and to quote Peter Kay "have a solero and shut the f**k up"
  21. Cottage pie at Shrewsbury - almost tasted home made
  22. Has anyone ruled out Vimto?
  23. Why don't we like Holloway again? Hopefully it's not a petty reason.
  24. What about Skirtel from Liverpool? He's rumoured to be unhappy
