  1. Long having a bit of a mare so far
  2. Been really **** though to be honest. Can't hold the ball up, no pace. Doesn't have the movement to get into free spaces. Can't write him off but for £9m expected a bit more.
  3. Way too many long balls.
  4. **** this game is boring
  5. Think we are in for some hammerings this season. The squad as it is just doesn't have enough fire power to push us into the top 10. So I think it will be a relegation battle, which we will just survive.
  6. What you talking about. We signed 2 players in on loan, signed 2 players from a weak league (of which one opened his account for us in the wrong goal) and now we got Shane Long! If you can't be smug about that what can you be smug about?
  7. How much have the club spent then Jeff? Do you not think the club is cost cutting then? I imagine our wage bill is a fraction of what it was last season. Also you realise that by bumping things like that means your own comments can be bumped too? Bit childish no?
  8. So much face palm in here. So you are saying then that when they made those 'intentions' the fans were not supposed to take them to mean players would not be sold, the club would not sell off 7 players (if Morgan and Jay go) and so on? If you interpreted those comments as you say then what is your interpretations of the comments today? If we sell Morgan or Jay what are the get out of jail words in the statement that you will use to defend the sales and say they had not lied?
  9. If our plan is to play the kids then we are as good as gone. The PL is not the place for youngsters to learn their trade. Especially a whole team of them.
  10. That is assuming he has the money to spend of course. So far we have spent what £10m-£15m on Tadic and Pelle? I actually feel quite bad for him and am not surprised to see the odds of him being the first manager to leave tumbling from 40-1 to 16-1.
  11. Maybe one of our stat whores can answer my question but has any other PL club sold 6 of its outfield players in one window before? I mean starters of course. Not looking for arguments or point scoring, it would just be interesting to know if this thing has happened before?
  12. I actually agree with what he is saying and what you have said. But I think the point is everyone including the manager realise that finishing 8th again is very unlikely!
  13. To maybe say we want to push on from last season? Saying you "maybe could" do doesn't mean you are hoping to do better does it?
  14. How do you come to that conclusion?
  15. "We will involve the manager. That is important for everybody to know. That’s why we have been able to not agree to any transfers to date," What about that one? Sounds like he is saying they will involve the manager and won't flog anyone until he/she comes in to me?
  16. Pretty sure clubs in the same association (England) can buy/sell players after the last game of the season?
  17. As other people have said he is most likely the guy who is here just to be wheeled out and give a rousing speech when something negative happens. I expect the next one to be tomorrow.... I don't think he should be the one taking the flak though as it is KL and her 'advisors' that are making the decisions. He is just the shield.
  18. Agree. He said it will be down to the manager to decide who goes. We will bring in a top class manager and bring in quality players which will help with the ambition of getting to Europe next year. I especially liked the bit about nobody leaving the club unless it is on our terms. I believe everything he said....
  19. Can you show me this report where we offered him the deal as I have not seen it cheers
  20. Without a doubt. Like Marco say's to think we are in some financial trouble of sorts is just laughable. However to correct him it was £76m we received this season just for TV http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27411682 an increase of £33m on the season before. That table shows the more successful you are the more people will want to watch you on tv. It is no coincidence the bottom three on the list all got relegated. As other's have said on different threads if you stand still you will go backwards and if KL is only in it now for money then it is time to sell while the club is worth a lot more then it will be in 12 months time if we get relegated/do badly.
  21. Just to point out how hard it is In our championship season we spent £4.9m on players (source http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/championship/transferuebersicht/wettbewerb_GB2_2011_a.html) To put that into context in that same year Brighton, West Ham and Leicester spent more. Two of them did not go up that season. We spent only £1m more that season (from £3.9m to £4.9m) then Derby and the Skates. Again neither went up. The following championship season (12/13) Blackburn, Wolves, Cardiff, Hull, Forest and Leicester all spent more then we did and only two went up. Wolves went down even after spending £13.5m on players. Cardiff came up after spending £11.5m. Double what we spent. This season Wigan, QPR and Forest have spent more. In our last league one season (10/11) we spent £2.6m on players. (source http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/league-one/transferuebersicht/wettbewerb_GB3_2010_a.html) So to say here is £150m and get to the PL from league one is not quite as simple as you would like to imply. To do it the way we have it is to spend £2.6m in league one and £4.9m in the championship. So that is £7.5m to spend on players to get you from league one to the premiership. As shown some teams have spent nearly double that and went down. Then when you get to the PL within 2 years with back to back promotions off that £7.5m you get £36.5m to spend, keeping in mind QPR spent £45m and went down. And Sunderland spent £34.5m and almost went down. Newcastle spent almost £30m and almost went down etc etc. Not quite as easy as it looks.
  22. I remember we did that with a lot of young players. Whatever happed to Matthew Patterson or Kayne Mclaggen? They were destined to be amazing I remember? If you are good enough you are old enough. The difference between him and Shaw/Chambers is vast imo. He will come good one day, but being a striker in the hardest league in the world you have to hit the ground running. That and the GK are the two positions i really think you cant carry.
  23. He has not had a full game that is fair. But other players we have started the same and showed something. Shaw and Chambers and of course JWP. I am not writing him off I just think he is not the answer to our problems if Lambo is not playing well. To score goals is the hardest thing to do. Also remember he missed an open goal a few weeks ago. I bet if Guly did that you would be less forgiving.
  24. Know i am going to get slated for this... But right now he is nowhere near good enough to be in the PL. Just because you are young and come from a succesful academy does not = always great. Otherwise might as'well play the entire under 18 team. We needed someone with experience to cover for Lambo in my opinion. Let the slating commence
  25. Mopo ****ed up badly here. It is just shocking that 2 wins from wembley someone would make so many changes to a winning team. I hope he will be man enough to come out after the game and hold his hands up and apologise. Especially to the thousands who paid lots of money to travel up there in dangerous conditions. Such a bad decision. One of the worst by a Saints manager in modern times.
