You do realise in 2009 when he was around his age he scored 20 goals in that season right? Lallana first proper season for us was the year we got relegated. Don't think anyone stood out for us that year. We were just ****.
-
Agreed. He isn't a bad player but he isn't a good player either. He is very average. What's interesting to me is that by his age we had already lost players to other clubs. Bale, Walcott, ox, Shaw, chambers etc. He is never going to be a top class player as some like to think. He's a decent squad player but shouldn't be starting for us.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 6-1 Aston Villa

Pretty much agree with this except the Davis and JWP scores. I thought Davis did very well today. Was outstanding in the first half. Made a quality sliding tackle at a crucial time on grelash or whatever hos name is. He made some great passes that got us on our way. Was one of our better players. JWP didn't do much in play. Did the usual headless chicken impression. Couple of decent corners but in play was easily passed by their players. Goes to show it's a game of opinions. -
Great 1st half. Really done well. Mane, Pelle, long and Davis been outstanding. I'd take JWP off and put Reed on.

If Carlsberg did bog standard lazy kits this would be it.

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED
Saint Benali replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Are you saying that it isn't a gamble then? Can't really understand your point of view (if it is one at all). Think you would have to be seriously naïve to think it wasn't a gamble. Don't recall many players getting 4 year deals whilst having not played for 14 months. Maybe you can enlighten us? -

Bit of a gamble as we don't know if he will be the same player as before he got injured. So many players get that and are never the same after. Personally I would of waited until next season, see how he get's on in pre-season and the early games. If he does well and looks like he is over the injuries sign him up. To give someone a new deal and presumably a pay rise when they haven't played for over 14 months seems a bit crazy to me. If he get's back to himself then its a great signing. But if he doesn't we have wasted money. Hence why it is a gamble imo. Fingers crossed it pays off as he is exactly the type of player we have been missing. -
Our On-the-Beach mentality is a f**king disgrace

Was at the game and thought we were **** again. However Reed Bertrand and Mane did pretty good. Someone above said about "Cold hard facts" and they are right. But here is another. Last 10 games Played 10, won 3, drawn 2, lost 5. 11 points. Which ever way you want to look at that stat it is a shocking amount of points. It would put us near the bottom of the form guide. The way I see it is the first half of the season was excellent. The second half has been poor. We stopped scoring goals, stopped creating goals, let too many shots at our goal, conceded too many goals and made far more mistakes. On the basis of the second half of the season I would get rid of Davis, JWP, Yoshida, Gazza, k Davis, Elia, Djuricic, Long. We were in a decent position and just switched off. The question is why? Contract talks affecting player confidence? Players looking for a move causing them to be distracted? Fatigue? Whatever it is, the truth is the players should be trying hard to get the club European football next season. If we are to just coast to the end of the season and not try how about giving our youngsters a run out. They will put in the effort at least. -
JWP Sending off - are Saints going to appeal this ?
Saint Benali replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
You get my point though. While the boy may come good in the long term, the past 5 months he has done nothing. Can we afford to have a player who doesn't contribute as much as others? If we look at our weak spots and where we can improve he is without a doubt one of them. I don't like to single out players for criticism especially when overall the season has been great. But if we had a true attacking midfielder in the centre who can chip in goals we would probably be a few points better off. -

Since Christmas he has been absolute gash. He wouldn't get anywhere near the full England team based on his form over the past 5 months. Offensively he ranks 11th in our team http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18 even Wanyama rates better. He is just a passenger right now. Time for him to have a break. -
Take it back Prowsie is doing very well now. They all look good. Need another goal I feel as kane done nothing at all. Which normally means he will score...
-
Think your confusing him with Davis who has been great so far
-
Has Prowsie even touched the ball yet? Chasing shadows.
-
You must be surprised he didn't make it then? Personally I'm not as think there was no chance he was going to make that squad based on recent form. As Clark said should shut a few people up. Those thinking he is good enough for the national senior team ofc.
-
Terrible player. Hugely over rated by some on here.
-
When was that? Think it's a myth some on here like to say. Hasn't had a decent delivery since he has returned 4 months ago.
-
JWP couldn't even cross the road
-
Sat in Itchen and saw Koeman giving him a lot of stick. He gave the ball away after we scored and RK was lairing up at him big time. Did it again when he gave the ball straight to their player in our box. Think it is safe to say he won't be playing next game.
-
Boring football and no tactics at all. Stop setting up so defensively.
-
Terrible performance today again. Had 7 set pieces and messed them all up. Two corners straight to first man and two straight over everybody and out for throw ins. Don't mean to be critical of the lad but we are making nothing from set pieces at all and that is largely down to him.
-
Ffs get JWP off now
-
JWP having another poor game imo. Let one of the wingers take the set pieces now plz.
-
From start to finish deserves nothing less than total abuse. Players come and players go. However for someone like him to behave the way he did when the club stood by him through issues such as his heart op etc it deserved to br treated better. What I hope is that in the build up the media don't talk about him leaving in a positive way. It has to be mentioned he went on strike and forced a move.
-
Gutted. We really need to work at shooting more. Especially from outside the box. Season hinges on the next couple of games imo. Lose those and the season will fizzle out.
-
Set pieces and being specific free kicks are an important part of football no? If we don't create goals from them or create chances from them wouldn't you say that is an area that can be improved on? It isn't ludicrous to point that out. It is stupid to think they are fine as they are. When we are chasing a game in the dying minutes and we get a free kick just outside the box. JWP steps up to take it. Do you have the same belief and confidence in him to score in the way we used to with other players i.e Lambert? Yeah didn't think so.
