  1. Saints vs. Bristol City 1978/9ish. Midweek fixture which was postponed once due to heavy rain. Saints won 5-2. My Dad took me and my mate and we stood at the Milton end, me and my mate in the chocolate box. I was hooked but my mate became a skate (sad but true)!!!
  2. "We have to be ready before the game starts..." Surely his job to ensure this is the case. He picks and prepares the team. Digging his own grave, me thinks.
  3. Got it all to do on Friday now. Still Argyle dit it, why shouldn't we? I have every confidence if we can get some strikers striking, after all we have Saeijs scoring now - who's next to step up to the plate?
  4. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/live_text/default.stm?refresh They boast 2 minute updates and I am being pretty well informed - as I said earlier, beats the OS Live report hands down, and refreshes itself to boot.
  5. Try BBC Sport/Football/My Club/Southampton/Live Text Updates every 2 minutes and better than the OS Live report. Good luck.
  6. COYR...it's now or never...
  7. This is something I have been considering also. Could then sell the tickets to someone who can go if I can't make it, via this forum. Watch this space...
  8. 400 away tickets for sale at the gate according to OS. Otherwise all sold out.
  9. There is no ticket information displayed on the OS for this game. Presumably, people don't know whether or not the tickets are discounted. I am certainly in the dark in this respect. Does anyone know the rates? I am sure a repeat of something similar to last Sat. would increase sales.
  10. Do they have to go to the FL meeting aswell? Better take their boots with them to travel on to Watford after...
  11. Interesting that they've booked him for Weds. morning. Presumably to discuss the 10 pt. deduction/or non-deduction as the case may be tomorrow (if a decision is even reached). I'm sure Alan Brazil will give him a grilling regardless, so I for one will definitely be listening...
  12. Inclined to agree with this. Come on you Reds - nothing else matters. Each to their own but let's not be at each other's throats.
  13. Agree with this whole-heartedly. Some of the comments after the second article are top class also and made me LOL, something I don't do enough these days! Keep the faith and COYR!
  14. Agree with you on these points. Cannot be negative - not in my nature. A good opportunity to focus on the Championship. The only way is up, surely.
  15. I think Patteson or McGoldrick up front solo will be out of their depth - need a foil for either. The pair may be an idea or BWP with either. Obviously my plan depends on every outfield player being on top form and the keeper playing a blinder, but if we don't take the game to them down the flanks, we may get hammered. I think sitting back and trying to counter might be a mistake. The game will be won or lost in midfield IMO and if the boys are up for it, which they jolly well should be, I believe we have every chance of success. Like in 2005 (6th round), the first goal will be crucial. As you will recall, we went on to lose that one 4-0 after a deflected Keane shot early doors.
  16. I think Jan should play Kayne McLaggon. He has been impressive on the wing in the last 2 matches IMO, creating chances and beating players, something we have needed. Also must play Surman to deter interest from Fulham and Spiderman is apparently fit again, so potentially midfield looks useful, with bodies on the bench if required... Similarly, Davis has to start to show our intent to keep our better players. The team selection (or more precisely, ommissions) could well be an advertisement for who we want to sell, so let's hope we field our stongest available side, not invent minor injuries for players who don't want to be cup-tied. Whatever happens, must play 4-4-2, surely?
  17. Great article -brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for the link.
  18. What price a positive thread? 2009 can be a great year for Saints. Suggested New Year's resolution - SUPPORT YOUR CLUB through thick and thin - negativity spreads like a rash and cannot help the 11 on the pitch...
  19. "or, if Kitty O'hanlans had it on maybe..." That was exactly what my suggestion was gonna be - several like minded followers have graced those doors - and good ale to boot. Not child friendly however (kids range from 16 - 9). Keyham/St. Johnston off my radar so may stick to Plympton... Good luck at work. COYR
  20. I hear what you're saying and agree 100%. Just thought if we could all go to the same place, pehaps we could create more of an atmosphere. My wife and 5 kids are coming so with you that makes 8 of us. At the moment we're planning on going The London Inn, St.Maurice, but have troop carrier, will travel. Thoughts?
  21. Any fellow Saints fans watching this in a Plymouth pub? We should meet up to try to outnumber all the fair-weather Mancunians. I know there's a few of you out there - Delldays etc - please post reply on this thread or pm me. Ps. Mods: please can you move this thread after 4pm? C.
  22. lol!!!
  23. Fair play. Defo sounds like a plan! However, do we have any money?
  24. If we sell Surman without signing a competent replacement, which seems to be the way we do things these days, we're doomed!
