  1. Have I missed this or has anybody called for a fan boycott of Junk?
  2. I have to argue the case for Bristol in this. I'm a saints fan and originally from Southampton, but now live in Bristol. Granted, neither City or Rovers command great attendences and neither have a great history of winning anything. However, Bristol is a great city. It is more than twice the size of Southampton and has recently benefited from huge investment and regeneration. It is a historic great city that is once again on the up. Bristol suffers due to it's proximity to Cardiff, a city half the size with an inferior infrastructure that just happens to be a capital. I agree with your comments on Plymouth as this is and always will be a sporting and social backwater. Milton Keynes isn't even worth discussing.
  3. Leon Best, Harry Redknapp, any Saint who later pulls on the royal blue of the fishy few, Kenwyne Jones, the Premiership relegation team, the board members that took us to the brink, Burley, Branfoot, Askham....... On a more positive note, could we not raise a list of players who left us in their prime who we continue to hold in regard? Shall I start the list?.........Shearer, Flowers, Wallace(D).......
  4. What about the human rights of the poor old tax payer who is funding some of these scrounging layabouts to do ***** all? Does giving my tax to a useless alcohololic to get ****ed up every day infringe my rights?
  5. Without wishing to be embroiled in an argument on this, if you are claiming JSA then you should be available at any time during business hours as this demonstrates that you are available for work. Obviously, I can't comment on your individual circumstances and I'm sure that you are genuine, however, as your posting eludes, there are many people who manipulate the benefits system, constantly avoiding work, costing honesty tax payers billions and, of course, impacting upon the credibility of honest claimers. Believe me (and I work very close to this industry), there are so many people screwing the system in this country, no wonder public debt is so high. If attending the Jobcentre once a fortnight is all you need to do to qualify for Job Seekers allowance, housing benefit and Council tax relief, then it's a small price. Okay...rant over. I hope your situation improves.
  6. I posted on this thread on Sunday relating to Pompeys situation and followed it up with an e-mail to the PL. (I obviously have too much time on my hands!) Anyway, they responded today. Please see below: Thank you for taking the time to write to The Premier League. The Premier League Board has followed the Premier League Rule Book to the letter in terms of the player registration embargo imposed on Portsmouth Football Club and the withholding of broadcast monies in order to pay overdue football creditors, including both domestic and overseas clubs. The embargo was lifted with provisos in place to try to help prevent any further financial difficulties. I fully appreciate your concern as a football supporter. All decisions regarding the setting of the Rules are taken by a vote of the Chairman of all 20 clubs and not by Premier League staff. The role of the Board is to implement the Rules on behalf of the clubs once they have been set. As a League we have several rules aimed at ensuring good governance of Premier League clubs. We are not, however, responsible for the day-to-day running of the football clubs. One of the rules pertaining to the situation at Portsmouth is the Fit and Proper Persons Test (“FAPPT”), and it may be helpful if I explained a little more about this ruling. The FAPPT is an objective test that looks at whether an individual is allowed to become a Director of a Premier League club. The test does not focus on finance but checks that any individual looking to become an owner/director of a club has not been convicted of an offence that has led to a 12 month prison sentence in the UK (or overseas in a country where an equivalent legal system exists). You may also be interested to know that we strengthened the FAPPT last summer, and added a new rule meaning that all clubs must publicly disclose any individual that has a 10% or more stake in a club. This was introduced so that fans are made aware of who owns their club. This goes above and beyond any requirements by UK Company Law and are, to our knowledge, some of the sternest in place in any UK industry. We understand that Portsmouth supporters, as well as supporters of other league clubs will have concerns about the difficult position in which the club now finds itself. We would like to assure you that the Premier League Board continues to work with the officers of Portsmouth Football Club to ensure that arrangements are in place to settle all club liabilities as and when they become due. Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us, we appreciate all feedback that we receive from supporters. Communications Team
  7. On a serious note though, don't you all find it disgusting that the Premier League and their sponsors / funders (i.e. Sky) seem happy to support Pompey to continue to flourish when they are clearly not paying their way? During these difficult times, many of you may be struggling to juggle your finances and many of you may be involved with small businesses struggling to survive in the current climate. With the country upto its plums in debt, surely HMRC needs to maximise tax income. I just can't get my head around how the PL think it is even remotely appropriate for Pompey to bring in new players in the January window with this current debt outstanding. For me, it shows that the PL has lost touch with reasonable society. It is eliteist, looking after its selective membership. It has no social responsibility for the masses, just the best interests of it's overpaid, poorly managed, greedy members. At the point in writing, I have become disenfranchised with this product and it's partners. The saving grace for me is that my beloved Saints aren't involved with this illegal cartel and, if it stays this way, I would be happy to remain in the football league where the penalties for financial mismanagement are indeed harsh, but set the right example to those wishing to extend themselves beyond their reasonable means. To back up my disatisfaction, I have today cancelled my Sky subscription as I no longer have interest in this stinking, fraudulent "Premier League". The wages may be "premier", but the morals and social responsibiliy isn't. I'm no longer prepared to contribute to the funding of such a corrupt product. Maybe there should be a campaign for real fans to apply pressure to the Premier League, maybe via their funders to get their housing in order. Anyway, rant over!!
  8. I've Southampton FC tattooed down my forearm and the stickman on my chest. Wife hates them both but I still don't regret it.
  9. That's why I hate him....for his gestures to the Northam during his warm down exercise. From memory, he wasn't on the pitch at the final whistle. Me thinks that PDB wasn't there at all ;-)
  10. My head says this is the right decision, yet my heart feels very sorry for Wotte. Best of luck Mark....thanks for sticking by us!
  11. Surely their massive debt outweights their paltry assets.
  12. SSN "Matt Le Tissier will have no further involvement in the club"
  13. Because he's a ****!
  14. For somebody who has so much to say, you are remarkably ill informed. Fry isn't here to please you or I, he's here to realise the best capitol return for the creditors of SLH. Fry updates the fans or "customers" with snippets of information in the interests of the creditors. The rational being, that he is trying to maintain as many customers as possible as this adds to the value of the brand. As such, this should increase the sale value for the creditors. Therefore, all your pointless ****ing and whining is pointless and your personal opinion of him is pretty irrelevant.
  15. That's totally out of order. I couldn't give a flying **** how long you've supported the saints....why don't you **** off down the road?
  16. Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bath, Durham, Poole, Dewsbury, Telford, Dudley, Slough, Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Newport, Merthyr, Warrington, Lancaster, Basingstoke........
  17. Mine too.....and she's built like Emily Symons!!
  18. 1885 for me....it's already tatooed down my arm!
  19. Completely agree. Redknapp had 6 months and one transfer window to stop the rot. If anything, we got worse under the saggy face runt.
  20. Don't you think that it's rather childish of Lowe to blame the bank? Yes, the lending policy seems baffling but it still took the idiots running SFC to spend the money. After all, just because you have the capacity to borrow, it doesn't mean you have to use it.
  21. Can I assume that you returned half an hour later with a can of petrol and a match?!!!
  22. Can I nominate this as "post of the week"? First class reading entertainment.
  23. The trouble is, we're not hounding them aggressively enough..... I completely agree with the initial post.....this is our club...the loyal, long serving fans....not these money grabbing b'stards.
  24. Mower

    Ian Holloway

And there was me thinking Holloway couldn't stand us.
  25. I'd still rather support us than the skates though.
