There was a nice looking young lady behind the bar on saturday.
-
Not as bad as the Angel of the South !!
-
Can take a few more off that figure as plenty seemed to be thrown out, mainly responding to Saints fans either side of us who were doing similar stuff unchallenged by the stewards (the joys of an away fan!!) A few of us went to the Kinsgland Tavern for a few hours after the game & had a good time with locals, although at first our reception seemed frosty they were a great bunch.
-
I'm originally from Bentley as well mate.
-
Thanks very much, Our OS will be putting the preview of the game up soon !!
-
Do you know anywhere that prints the away following at SMS. Would be interested to know how many of us were there on sat? (not many I know!!) Thanks.
-
This could be embarrassing for us if we perform like we have done in the last 2 games, it has been woeful. However we have been decent on the road in the last few games but it is hard to see you not scoring at least 3. As for Sharp he is a life long Sheff Utd fan ,when he scored there a couple of seasons back he celebrated the goal. He is (was) a legend at S****horpe & he went crazy when he scored there. The fella just loves scoring goals & if he plays tomorrow he will score & he will celebrate (I just hope he doesn't go to mad, but will forgive him if he does). Hope your pubs are well stocked as I feel the need to get drunk before the game to numb the pain!! Incidently we have shifted just under 500 tickets not bad considering our position & last 2 performances.

He is a stocky lad but that is just how he is, he's not fat. Every team has different fitness level perhaps aren't as strict as yours & that will take time. He will come good I've no doubt, Don't forget we come to yours in 3 weeks so he'll be OK
-
Hows Mr Sharp getting on in his first few games for you? Seemed to recall it took him a few months before we saw the real Billy Sharp at Donny & wondered if he'd hit the ground running for you?
-
He isn't lightening quick but he is no slouch either, despite his lack of inches he is great as a lone forward, he doesn't half knock 6ft+ defenders around, the ball sticks when he gets it, rarely loses possesion and has great vision. I'd be amazed if by the end of February he isn't a fan favourite. I know the expectation & quality is another level to us but he will rise to that, no doubt about it. What's the chances of him playing tonight?
-
Thanks for the comments, the Portsmouth situation could give us a boost if reports are true they are in deep trouble, Billy has never played with a big man whilst at Donny he often played up front on his own with Hayter just behind and a couple of attacking midfielders/wingers. I have no doubt he will be a success at your place, his enthusiasum and determination is a joy to watch, he will get the goals you need to gain promotion I'm certain of that. Him & Lambert will be a frightening partnership & I'm sure you have other quality strikers as well. Good luck, I will certainly be tuning in to watch your game saturday evening.
-
You have got yourself a great player player, never gives up, strong as an ox for his size & will give opposition defences a torrid time. The fella can put it in the back of the net as well, he will be sorely missed up here (general consenus is with Sharp we would stay up,without him we won't). Already looking forward to visiting in March he will get a fantastic reception from the Donny fans if he plays & will no doubt grab a couple of goals.
-
James Chambers, he has been steady as a rock when he has played, I thought he started very dodgy on saturday, but improved and made some good tackles later on. (however I was in the Giddy Bridge just after 9am!!!)
-
I also hope that you get out of trouble and we both stay up. Just out of interest what did you all reckon to our support? 848 was the figure banded about on our site, not bad consideeing the time of year, credit crunch and the fact we struggle to get 10000 home fans through the turnstiles at the KM. How do we compare with other similiar sized teams? Thanks.
-
Just to throw my view into the ring (for what its worth), firstly I thought you shaded the 1st half in what was in truth a poor game.Your fans were in exdcellent voice before our 1st goal it makes for a great atmosphere when the vocal sections of the home fans are either side if the away end. After that things started to turn ugly and no-one in the away end could blame you (our chairman 10 years ago tried to burn down our ground, appointed Stockport Countys lottery manager as our 1st team manager and allowed him to play his next door neighbour who'd never played any higher than sunday league to play in goal in a crucial relegation battle against Brighton) so we know all about people trying to kill the club. Can see what the pitch invaders were trying to acheive but sadly they will probably not be allowed in to see if there actions have any consequence. All in all enjoyed Southampton as a place and enjoyed the ale in the cowherd on saturday night. The only downside was I backed us to win 2-0 at 11/1. Bloody Pole!!!!
-
I agree Ponty, we should but we won't and it will probably be our downfall (again!)
-
I've got a horrible feeling that our play will suit you down to the ground, however we are a different team from the one you played earlier in the season (IIRC Davis had an excellent game for you in goal, but you more than deserved your win). Like us you play football the right way so at least it should be a good game and one thing is for certain,we won't/can't come and shut up shop and defend for 90 minutes.
-
We certainly are the winners at the moment, however if he does leave for around the million mark then the club that gets him could potentially have a top quality player and themselves be sat on a gold mine. Regarding Stock he could comfortably play in the prem now imo, he rarely breaks sweat because he doesn't have to,I'm sure his shirt never needs washing! him & Wellens compliment each other so well as they are so different and both quality in there own way. If we could defend set pieces better and had a decent striker (or 2) we would more than hold our own in this league  Still,I suppose most of the teams in the bottom half could probably say the same.
-
Matt Mills has been excellent for us since he came and seems to be getting better every game, his range of passing is excellent (if not a bit predictable),he's good in the air and at 22 looks a great prospect. Birmingham have been sniffing around him and I'm sure others will be interested, its a toss up between Mills & Brian Stock (another local lad to you,who is the most complete footballer I've seen in 30 years watching Rovers) who becomes our 1st million pound sale first.
-
We've sold just over 600 as of yesterday, hopefully 700-800 with pay on the day.

Doncaster_ Most important game of season?
Donnylee replied to thorpie the sinner's topic in The Saints
Hello all, sorry to hijack your thread, I'm staying the weekend for the Donny game with the kids, could anyone recommend anything to do with them on sat night & sunday morning close to the town centre? Are there any kid friendly pubs in the town centre? Thanks in advance. -
You've never been have you??? Congrats on today best team won,we weren't at the races (but should have had at least 1 pen ourselves, theser things happen I suppose) Hope the Saints fan I spoke to in the lakeside bar enjoys his night in town tonight. I will buy him & his missus a drink by way of congratultions if I see him later. See you in Jan when we make amends!!

Hatch- One of the few pubs in Donny I've not been in, Its in a rough(ish area) in walking distance from train station & ground. Many away fans have used it this season and I've heard no bad reports. My advice would beto go for it. Andy-Good choice, loads of bars within stumbling distance,My advice would be to ring 01302 323333 and order a taxi from the pub you are in for around 2.20-2.30. Adethorne,You can park at the ground £5 or the industrial units nearby usually charge £3-£4, otherwise head for the Dome leisure centre for free parking and a picturesque 15-20 min walk around the lake to the ground. You will have no problems with wearing colours ANYWHERE near the ground. Thorpe No taxis unless you book on the above number, there are usually buses back to the town centre or its a 15-20 min walk. Enjoy your day lads .
