  1. They mentioned on the 5Live commentary that the TV commentators had Valuev down as the winner. Obviously Richie Woodhall and Steve Bunce read the fight better than Watt as they had Haye winning by a minimum of 3 rounds, which was correct.
  2. I thought the BDO stopped Adams playing in the PDC events. I seem to remember he played in a couple of World Matchplays around the same time that Ronnie Baxter got to the final of one. Baxter was still a member of the BDO back then. I know they stopped Colin Monk's son playing for the England youth team, because they found out he had competed in some PDC events. Barry Hearn has invited Adams to the last couple of GSOD, but Adams has refused both times, so they've not bothered to even ask him this year. The playoff for the final spot is tonight, and there are fair old players in it - http://www.pdc.tv/page/GrandSlamDetail/0,,10180~1866798,00.html
  3. I don't think they have even bothered to invite Martin Adams this year. Although, I'm sure he's happier picking up £500 for winning a tournament at a holiday camp in Eastbourne against a bunch of no-bodies then getting embarrassed by the likes of Taylor and Wade on national tv. Some weird looking groups there. I'm not sure how they've seeded it but I bet Mervyn King is a happy man after seeing his group!
  4. I would avoid the A36 on a Friday night.
  5. I think they are already selling tickets for this, so I doubt they will change the kick off time now.
  6. Live ties announced - Paulton Rovers v Norwich and Northwich v Charlton on ITV, and Oldham v Leeds on the web. http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/NewsAndFeatures/2009/FACup_TVTies_1P.aspx
  7. Only ITV have live rights, and are only due to show one game at the moment. Setanta shared the rights last season but I don't think anyone has taken over their half of the deal yet.
  8. The first round draw is live on Sunday at 1pm on ITV1.
  9. What a waste of time! How is this supposed to raise standards? They are playing 40 over cricket all summer, which they don't play at international level (at the moment) and no-one else does anywhere else in the world. Then, they introduce a format where only one team is guaranteed to qualify from each group, so by halfway through the summer, a lot of the teams will have nothing to play for. Surely having a quarter final stage would open things up a bit? Obviously, the counties have had a say in this but surely a better balance can be struck?
  10. Confirmed on Saints OS. Tickets on sale to ST holders now. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~1826704,00.html
  11. Sky are also showing the Leeds v Grimsby game. It must be a slow week...

  13. Yeah, the Fourth qualifying round is being played over the weekend of 24/25th October. In previous years when Sky and the BBC had the TV rights, the draw was made live on Soccer Saturday after 5pm, but I think last year it was live on ITV 1 at Sunday lunchtime. Here are the round by round dates - http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/FACupPages/RoundDates2008-09.aspx Here are the ties for the third round qualifying ties, to be played this week with the 24 Blue Square Premier teams joining the fray in Monday's fourth qualifying round draw - http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/Fixtures.aspx
  14. I wouldn't be overly fussed at the start we've had if we started the season like everyone else on 0 points, but the 10 point deduction is like a noose around our neck which is slowly tightening. We should put away all thoughts of aiming to finish mid-table and pushing on for promotion next season and roll our sleeves up and concentrate on the only real objective this season which is staying in this league.

  16. Here in Salisbury which is a safe Tory seat, a lot of Labour supporters always vote Lib Dems because they know that the Lib Dems have more chance of unseating the Tory MP and Labour have none at all. I know that the singer Billy Bragg, who lives in Dorset now, campaigned at the last election for people who normally voted Labour to vote Lib Dems to unseat the Tory MP there too. If a PR system is implemented, people are more likely to show their true colours and not try and tactically vote, which will probably do the Lib Dems more harm than good.
  17. The Northam is open too.

  20. I didn't go in the Merlin this season but have been in there before and from memory, it was just a bog standard Greene King chain pub.
