Just pray we don't have a penalty with one minute to go on the final day of the seson which we need to score to stay up. Unless John is back by then.
-
How did the defenders show? We need someone to replace Ollie.

I have been accused of a lot of things on this site before taking the plunge and joining with Full membership. I cringe at some of the posts and laugh at others. The only thing I care about is my life and that means my family and Southampton FC. Last night we got a very well earned point at a ground where we were dreading a fearful beating. Let's rejoice and pray for a similar performance on Saturday. An added bonus would be for one of our forwards to remember what their main job is. Score goals.
-
Rudi's return was brilliant. Forget all the rubbish spoken about him and rejoice in the fact that he ran his heart to a standstill. Timely tackles and a clearance off the line showed that if kept fit he could solve one of our problem positions. Lancashire getting sent off is a big worry as he also had a pretty good game. Who will take his place on Saturday? Please please don't let it be Wotton. Slow of thought and mobility he was also blatantly guilty of ball watching against Watford and must be kept out of the team. There just has to be someone better.
-
Wotton must have been talking about himself because his performance on Saturday was the worst that I had ever seen by a Saints CB. Perry was good and Skacel played a blinder until running out of steam at the end by the sounds of it.
-
Better all round performance thankx lads. Davis even managed to come for some crosses. Things are looking up. Skacel had a really good game until the last few minutes when he got tired. First game of the season so hope it's not the last. Gillett did what he does and well.
-
Sid you have a point. Watched the sky short showing the goals. Looked even worse than at SMS. Davis was stuck as you say and giving no verbals to his defence. I thought the keeper told his defenders where he wanted them. Though this doesn't stop us wincing everytime teams attack our end. Maybe the confidence would be helped with a change but who do we pick.

Now swapping L for M might have been interesting if he hadn't been down at our nearest and dearest neighbours. Though he did manage to find a buyer who had some money. If as a lot of supporters seem to think we are doomed and face bankrupsy why not do it now and put us out of our misery? We might even find a buyer who not having to pay much for the club could sort out the mess we're in. Answer NONONO

Question is when?????

In my book the referee could be the reason we lost as we did. Having given a penalty I was surprised to see only a yellow card issued to the goalie. The nearest defender only beat McGoldrick to the ball because he had been foulled. It's true that we were diabolically poor as indeed were Watford. The penalty should have been taken as mentioned previously by Drew. Leading 1-0 and playing 10 men should have been the start of a comprehensive victory. Wotton should never be allowed to play for us again. His ineptitude reminds me of the 20 minute sub from a few years ago.(ALI)? PERRY IS OUR OWNLY AVAILABLE CB AND CAN'T GET A GAME. WHY? McGoldrick is not good enough and like many showboats before is just that. Flatters to deceive again and again. If he is our best striker we are doomed. Yesterday I took my 5yo to his first ever game at St Marys. He was so happy to buy himself some stuff from the club shop. He thoroughly enjoyed his burger and chips which we had before the game. He also really enjoyed the crisps and hot chocolate at half time. He got totally into the atmosphere as his little voice could be heard singing "oh when the saints" over and over again. He was really happy to see so many supporters wearing the red and white like him. After the game me and his 17yo sister spent a long time making sure that his day ended on a happy note. This morning our efforts were rewarded because he wants to do it all again. This obviously makes me happy so a poor game did have it's bright spot. My son and another firsttimer who will both be returning for more punishment. Such is the life of a Saints supporter.

Somehow we manage to score every now and then and we also keep clean sheets every now and then. Today we were defensively ****e and the finishing was ****e but we created loads of chances. Next match the will go in and Davis will pull of the saves Lee made today. Lee fouls in penalty area when our player is through and only has to tap it in. Gets only a yellow card. Why? Every game we play pretty football in middle of pitch. No strikers and no defenders equals more and more losses. Plus with draining confidence the scores against could grow. McG should have been subbed a hell of a lot earlier. Wotton should not have taken second penalty and doesn't act like a defender. We are missing Schneiderlin and a couple of others. This will give us a bit more calmness and improve the team but who will get hurt next? Today I took my 6yo son to his first game at St Marys. What a start to his life as a Saints supporter. THE ONLY WAY IS UP. At least I pray it is.

My first post as a full member so I'm wondering who to upset. Having already upset some on another now closed thread it might not be difficult. Steve Grant wrote a very good post and I must admit made me think(painful). I have advocated cut prices to help bring back some of the missing. I note his point about the lost revenue from those already intending to watch. My option though is not quite as simple as cutting prices. I would suggest a longer trial. One would need to purchase three tickets to get a free one. Tickets would need to run consecutively so each person would have to watch three home games on the trot before being able to claim their freeby. People who are regularly at the games would be able to purchase the tickets at the same time, if showing previous ticket receipts. The gates are dropping slowly, as low as they are, and might still drop lower. Barring the odd big game the trend is likely to continue unless we can buck the trend. Even if the club lost slightly with my proposal there is nothing to say that the gates would have stayed at the current level. If a few hundred plus were to return the bigger gate should encourage the team and quite possibly shout them home to a victory or two. Winning breeds confidence and that is in supporter's eyes as well. A few wins and hey presto we are seeing bigger gates and more enjoyable football. An alternative would be to do what teams like West Ham, Millwall and Charlton have done. Issue new shares. Though it would be difficult in the present climate it is conceivable that there are still people who would purchase shares for our club. It might have one drawback though and that is Lowe and co would own a smaller share of the club. Unles they buy them themselves. A smaller holding could put us back on an uneven keel with more infighting among the board members and share holders. The advantage in a share issue is that whilst moneymen may be hard to borrow from, it is possible they might choose the alternative. I would imagine owning shares is a much more enjoyable choice. As you may have guessed I am not a moneyman. I am in fact struggling financially but I will be at the game against Watford. Being a pensioner I get a reduction so any thoughts that I might be trying to gain personally are off course. I only care about our club. Southampton FC is our club and is only being run by Lowe and co on a temporary basis.

Saints 3 - 1

I shall wish you with Saturday birthdays the usual good wishes. I am taking my 5yo son to his first ever game and hope we get you a birthday 3 points as well as a day for him to remember. I will probably only be able to make another one or two games because of cost. That aside I will as my name suggests be a supporter till I die, and beyond if possible. COYR

WT I think you hit it on the head. Saints say reducing prices will increase burden not help. Short sighted twaddle. They have a disorientated crowd paying over the odds for a sub standard product. They show no inclination for respecting us and cry because lots have stopped going. Boo Hoo. Wake up before it's too late. We want to support our team and even a nominal reduction in prices could bring some back.I have said before we are not a big name anymore. We should start acting more loke Tesco's and less like Large department stores. There are a lot of ways to operate price reductions and one is "buy one get one free"."Buy 2 get one free" Personally I would go for the 2nd option or one similar because it gives the club the money up front. It also gives the team longer to show what they can do Wake up Southampton before we are dead and buried. Do something. Show us that you care.
-
How many times have we had a team say that after playing us this seaon?
-
Like Glen going to Spurs I think The Wee Man would have stayed if anyone else had called but Celtic. We always felt more confident with him in charge. So he will get my vote.
-
Bingo. Two salient points which when put together make for a pretty nasty argument. Ferrari Seem to be the darlings of the FIA and Lewis is the first good Black driver. Add to that the fact that not only is he not driving a Ferrari but he is in an English car.
-
Forgetting the Coventry game, our recent performances though not good had at least shown the team capable of rolling up their sleeves and giving it a go. Norwich was a good result and I would hope that this game could hopefully stop the downward spiral. Even if just for a game or two. Another good result is clearly a possibility seeing that Watford are placed close to us. Lots of teams can be well beaten away but manage to win at home. Let's all cheer them on and bring the points home this Saturday.

Robsk II whilst my use of the English language is not perfect and I have been known to make the odd spelling mistake I am not a d##k as implied in your moronic reply to my earliest post. Put that with the statement in my reply and even a person of such limited vocabulary and intelligence should understand what I said. If you would like, I will draw you some pictures. Only problem with that is the fact I'd be banned as well, probably. That I am not ready for as of yet. Miserableoldgit I laughed at your reply. Thankx. Ponty would it be worth my while asking you by PM?
-
Ponty you would have been the only person on the site at that time but it does not count to the posts unless you have actually posted as a guest. You always have the opportunity to visit though with your larger base you probably don't feel the need. Understandable. However all I would like is an answer to the question that our small site asked. Perhaps you or one of your fellow administrators would like to give us five minutes of your time to explain exactly how we are a threat to you. You have a vastly superior product at the moment due to your far greater experience and fan base. If I paid my fees which I must admit are not excessive, with the improvements you are bringing. How do I or anyone else post from another site(including mine/one's own) without incurring your wrath. I have little knowledge of how to do these things without printing word by word from whatever site I have visited. Indeed as you are probably aware one of the sites I have visited seems to have folded. I presume that you know which one. I am retired and have followed SOUTHAMPTON FC for over half a century. No medals needed. I will as my title suggsts follow our team until I am no longer able. Simple fact. I have a young family that is reaching the ages where I feel comfortable taking them to see our team. Obviously I am not, on my money, able to go very often. This is saddening to me as I always enjoyed going to the Dell and like many others have still to take to St Marys. On Saturday I will be going with two of my kids and hope, obviously, for a good game and result. My use of the internet is merely, like many, to keep in touch with other fans. If one of you admin chappies could either answer my query on here, or visit the site this thread is about, I know it would be appreciated. I might add not just by myself. I apologise for going on but I do have a tendency to ramble.
-
Robsk II your use of the English language is pathetic. Unless of course you were talking about your looking in your bedroom mirror at all your friends. And believe me that is information that I don't need to know. "I'm no Sinner" you need to get your facts straight before you make such infantile statements. A quick check would show you that I am very easy to find. You only have to check out the other site to see that I am not he. SaintAndy666 I must agree that this site has a more varied and busier usage due to the larger base. You have at least taken a look and made your own decision as to whether you wish to use the other site. You are not alone. The heading on the main page says Unlimited access to all members who pay the £5 per year fees. This patently is not so.

Goes without saying that we are thinking of both families at this time. My step dad had it and beat it so hang on in there ESB and your mum.

I use several forums and have no problem with a few emails offering a second home for me to use. Each forum can offer something and I find it small minded for someone to be banned because he wanted others to visit his site. Just because you may visit doesn't mean you will use it. SaintMikes forum will not suit everyone and I feel that by reacting in the manner they have SW are showing a real fear of opposition. If they are so scared why don't they go and take a look at what is on offer? They would be allowed to leave their link as SaintMike does not bar them. All forums have something to offer and I for one have trawled this one on several occasions. Indeed if the management wern't so small minded I would willingly pay the £5 that they require to become a full member. I am not alone in using several forums and I know that a few on SaintMikes forum are full members of this one. So I am requesting the ban be lifted and links be allowed. There is nothing to lose because a few more people would probably do as me and appreciate that a fair and even playig board means confidence in ones own site. All sites have something different so let competition begin. You might even surprise yourselves by starting to reclaim lost members.
