  1. Marlon had his loan deal terminated as Nice manager Patrick Viera no longer wanted him as a member of his squad.
  2. A fitting finale for Steve who has done well for us.
  3. good luck Dusan. Replacement looks like on way
  4. Cancel this one as just seen we already have one on this subject.
  5. The run in looks a hell of a lot nicer than last seasons.
  6. The way that this club is being run we may well be down there very soon
  7. The difference in his play once MH had the team playing forward showed his quality in a better light.
  8. When Rose is easily beaten and the opposition score Southgate will regret not taking the best English left back we have. Yes he had a deplorably poor season but that has as much to do with the management and style of play wanted than his talent. Ryan enjoys playing for England and will now enjoy playing in a more adventurous Saints side hopefully
  9. I worshipped Ron when he was playing. He will always be a legend to me. Shilton and Keegan were only here for a very short time and good as they were did little for Saints to become legends. Crikey! I would rather Bobby Stokes our Cup winning goal scorer than those two.
  10. Don't you have a waste disposal unit indoors then Ekon?
  11. It seems that we all see that our defence was woeful last season. What we don't seem to remember is that they had no midfield cover worth it's salt for a very large part of that time. Hughes came in and after a couple of games the players began to work as a team. A close call escaping relegation but we can't put all the blame on the back line. Not being able to score adds to the pressure of any side. Our midfield was unable to provide opportunities or even help make some. They also stood watching quite often when bypassed. Hughes changed thee way we played thankfully and I am confident we will continue in a similar vein to that he selected for us at the death. Yes a big strong brave and agile cb would be great but we also need an attacking midfield player preferably in a central position. A fast wide player and a striker not afraid to do just that and strike. Hard and often enough to score the goals we need to be able to see on a regular basis.
  12. Lord D I was torn between Morgan and Jimmy I must admit. As for Mark I believe most of his fame came because he was at United which may have coloured my view accordingly. I also considered Micky Channon who did score the odd goal for us and Terry Paine. To be fair we have had quite a few top quality players over the years. Pity we couldn't have had them all at the same time.
  13. I will give you all something to ponder over. Peter Shilton - - - - - - Bill Etherington Michael 'Killer' Svenson Virgil Van Dijk Ryan Bertrand - - - - - - Sadio Mane Alan Ball Matthew Le Tissier Morgan Schneiderland Gareth Bale - - - - - - Ron Davies Kevin Keegan, Alan Shearer, Toby Alderwerald, Mark Wright, Adam Lallana, Antti Niemi, Jimmy Case
  14. Give him a couple of years and the top 6 will be fighting to get him on their books.
  15. Blimey he is good. The fixtures haven't even come out and we already have our first game to look forward to. ******
  16. Real Madrid drop interest in Pochetino
  17. Under normal circumstances I would agree. However, Reed is 60, and passed the age of learning from his mistakes, quickly. I can only see more of the same from him if he stays. The rumour that he didn't want Hughes but another unnamed person to be next manager does not bode well if true. If it is then there will be problems ahead unless Ralph clips his wings. If that happens then there is no point him staying because he can't do his job properly. For me a DOF should be a football man that is well regarded and fully experienced with an eye for good players. What level of playing if any did Reed reach? How many coaching badges has he got? What actual experience of football other than sat behind a desk does he have?

    Sam McQueen

Have seen the other player a few times on the box and I know it doesn't always show us the same performance wise things such as positioning it did show Bryam in positive fashion.

    Sam McQueen

I have thought for a long time that Sam would be a better bet than JWP as a midfield player. Has more strength so can prove to be more versatile and as you say he can finish.
  20. small provincial southern club fails again to get progress help from a football authority, what a surprise.
  21. Choosing a manager that is not up to the job is one thing. Not replacing him early enough to be able to keep the bus heading forward is another. Just about the only person that didn't see how badly MP was doing in this country was Les. When the players are unhappy as well as the fans there is obviously something wrong. He must go and if things don't change for the better then so to must Ralph.
  22. We need a good squad of experienced players to help our youngsters come through. Not just pitch them into the team and do a 2005
  23. We are in a position whereby we need a strong Centre Back, mobile Holding Midfield general, goal scoring Striker as a minimum. We do not want to take unnecessary risks by not buying and then our younger players are seen to be incapable of reaching the required standard.
  24. Soft southerners mention again not fact that we are a provincial club with less support. Well perhaps we are a soft touch now, but we don't have a strong person dealing with transfers. In which case we may pay more than we should (Carrillo) but can still get a good fee VVD. mixed feelings I know but quite often reading some threads that is what we get.
  25. If Krueger wants Reed to answer questions he has the power to insist that it happens. I don't feel sympathy for a rich man earning a small fortune to do a job when it appears he can't do just that effectually.
