  1. 98 days: jesus was only in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. Lightweight.
  2. 09, 08, 07....disco!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Reminds me of Steve McClaren - not mr charisma that's for sure.
  4. open the corners, definitely
  5. Leicester spent £1.2m, having sold three of their best players (hume, macauley and stearman for around 4m). They bought adams, tunchev and dyer, though they had gone on a spree in the previous January while battling to stay in the championship (oakley, howard from derby). They also relied alot on premiership loans (jack hobbs from liverpool etc). 5m would be enough. I just wonder had Liebherr got exclusivity and sealed the deal earlier whether we would have been forced to offload DMG or Surman?

  7. A prem goal is a prem goal - not like MLT was plying his trade in scotland a la gascoigne (while being picked for England). Most people in the "football world" have limited experience of playing in a smaller side and so dont have clue about the extra challenges and responsibilities involved. If anything, MLT's achievements are all the greater because they were with a team that struggled to create chances and win games.
  8. Pure relief overriding feeling. no question of mixed feelings. the statement that's been issued fills him with hope. nobody would say these things in public if they didnt mean to stick by them. Le tiss has had no dealings with markus liebherr. asked if he was called by liebherr, would he get involved -would be happy to sit down and chat through some of his pinnacle plans but is fully committed to soccer saturday. Wants to get the season tickets out and lets set a record for league 1 attendance.
  9. Le Tiss going to be on SSN...
  10. Le Tiss will be as happy as us with today's announcement. I sincerely believe that.
  11. +1. abso f**kin lutely. To paraphrase Fry, our top man was attracted to us by a number of qualities including the "club's rich sporting heritage, loyal fan-base, first-class stadium and training facilities and the potential for the Saints to regain their rightful place at the higher echelons of English football". Heed that
  12. Cheers...leave the lights on on the way out
  13. "We will act rapidly, but also plan for the long term, because I am here for the long term" top man
  14. Time to pull the plug on this bast**rd.
  15. Who's going to do the merciful thing and put down the behomouth, takeover gossip thread? Will miss it but thank f**k we're now dealing with fact.
  16. amen!
  17. Lallana too undisciplined to play on the left wing - perhaps james could slot in there; need more steel in midfield; could we play thomas, perry and saejis together? think saejis could fill that midfield holding role christian dailly did quite well for us.
  18. We're getting there... (guy finished the 68' olympics marathon with a dislocated joint)
  19. Hopefully, it will be time to plan for the future soon enough. but does anyone think we would have been able to keep DMG or Surman if the Swiss had got exclusivity at the end of May and completed three weeks later? Under those circumstances, we would not have had to sell to pay pwages. Or were DMG and Surman going anyway. I think we might have been able to keep Surman. Further collateral damage from the Pinnacle fiasco.
  20. Happens all the time and my previous employer happens to have become a feeder-club for the upper echelons of the FA. I know they were paranoid about handling any potential conflicts of interest, however far-fetched. Of course, government is a different beast; but you would expect any high-end commercial outfit to do the same. Maybe BT have been similarly scrupulous but taking your photo off a website may strike people as a bit defensive.
  21. We're crying out for a central midfielder with bite- can't be worse than wotton. of course, that's not necessarily a reason to take him.
  22. Autumn - before they had even turned on the floodnights! Nobody thought that the season was going to be easy (the bookies had as favs to go down), so its hard to figure out what people were expecting. I guess alot of fans/teams around us -watford, doncaster, nott forest, derby etc- could have capitulated at similar stages but didn't and eventually dug themselves out of trouble. Points-wise, nobody was ever totally cut off from the pack.
  23. Wouldn't say its the fans fault - too many proverbial chicken and eggs. Did our dismal performances cause fans to stay away or did the fans hit the confidence of players? Certainly, the difference between our home and away form makes it an open question. But two things- many fans weren't even prepared to give the experiment the benefit of the doubt and that's well before the lack of entertainment and fight. Second, the fact is that when the fans got their way and the board left and in Fry's words, it was time to come out and signal to potential investors that we had a dedicated fanbase, people hardly stepped up to the plate. I'm not bemoaning the stay-aways - their choice is to be respected; but at the same time, they hardly deserve any commendation or praise. There were never any certainties about going into admin. And as an investment proposition, more rather than fewer fans turning up is always preferable. Who knows, perhaps, the Liebherr clan travelled away to Preston, Watford, Reading etc and liked what they saw, especially given the adversity. Its no more far-fetched a speculation than the morons who believe that success has directly come out of their stance....
