Rest of the analysis is spot-on though. you wonder how he's scored so many goals in a team that seems so short of supply and ideas.
-
He -Jackson- didn't play that day!
-
burley - but he went by many names!
-
Think Dave Jones was still manager on Jan 1 2000. And of course don't forget GB...
-
He's been a class act wherever he's gone. V.shrewd if colchester get him. As well as playing in midfield, can also slot in at RB.
-
cheers - you're smarter than i am. beats the £400 i was quoted for car hire over the xmas weekend! will have another look at national express and greyhound.
-
For £2.50 who are you going with? Greyhound? National Express is quoting me £20.

Thought Waigo got stuck in - failed to track the runner once which led to a goal-scoring chance and a cross-field pass of his was dangerously picked off but I generally thought he was sound defensively. Thomas just gave him to much to do. The bigger shame was that he didnt show much interest in going forward, repeatedly playing the easy lay-off (invariably hoofed forward) and every ball he and the team won was immediately handed back to Leeds on a silver plate.

We really did luck out with Markus and Nicola. This time last season we were losing left, right and centre and could only count on the diversions of Man U for a plastic-filled capacity. Unbelievable that a year on we're close to selling out Exeter - all on the basis of our own efforts and achievements. Makes me proud, grateful and incredibly hopeful for the months and years ahead.

Omerod's game has been built on endeavour and mobility - and almost limitless stamina in chasing things down. In other words, the first things to go with age.

If we could only sign one player, which position would it be?
-
We'll buy a striker if we sign a few players - who doesn't. But midfield is where we're weakest -both as cover for the CBs and linking play up top. Nobody asks what would happen if we lost Hammond. We would be royally f**ked. And who knows if Schneiderlin's good form is going to continue - he was being slated only a month or so ago. At least, up top we have options (Waigo has looked good with Lambert so has Lallana while Antonio went up top against Walsall). And if necessary we can comfortably switch to 4-5-1.
-
Relax - not saying Mills should be in the team but he has more to his game than James. More important, we have Lallana and Harding on the left who are better than Mills (and James). James is a versatile player and must have been a great option for AP in the short-term given the amount of rebuilding he has had to do while ensuring continuity but if you seriously think he is a decent medium-term let alone long-term prospect for any of the positions he plays, you're dreaming.
-
Midfield > Defense > Forward CM> RB> CF > CB in that order of priority.
-
Normally? The leeds fans I speak to were moaning about him BEFORE the game. And the speed with which the crowd turned against him - almost from the first chance he fluffed- suggests something is up.
-

Agree that Lallana is as good, if not better than him. But whereas Norwich play Hoolahan in the hole, we put Lallana out on the left that doesnt give the same freedom to roam or to influence the game. Norwich get more out of Hoolahan than we get out of AL.

Thought Beckford was OK yesterday - he was ****e in front of goal but even then still caused us problems by (i) dropping deep to receive the ball and bring others in, demonstrating that he's not just a one-trick, pacy ball-over-the-top player and (ii) managing to get into goal scoring positions.

Don't we already have a good DM with distribution skills in the shape of Schneiderlin (though he's no Safri yet)? I think we need another player with good distribution skills who has an engine and can play a little bit further forward - a Therry Racon/Richie Wellens type figure, a fleshed out Mellis. If we could get a decent left-sided player, a Jeff Hughes, even Lallana could come inside where we could really link up play. As long as we play direct, wouldn't mind seeing another ball-holding CF play alongside Lambert - christ even Saga could do a job, though the 'politics' are probably no longer right. We've been seriously wasting Connolly by hitting long balls to him. A CB is a good call what with Trotman's lobotomy. Our CBs played well yesterday but it was always reactive, second-ball stuff. Far less composed than Leeds defense who had the pace to follow our Lambert/Connolly into midfield, knowing that they could still get the ball that went over the top.
-
If we can't get Leeds players because they've got an eye on the CCC, unlikely we'll get anyone from Norwich. Having seen both teams now first-hand, Norwich are the best team in this league.
-
ITK? As i said in my earlier post, Leeds fans reckon he is going to Newcastle. While I would have dismissed it before yesterday, I got the sense even before Beckford's sulk and strop, the door is much more open for a cheeky offer.
-
Of couse, not hard to understand given snodgrass was playing on the left -and every Leeds supporter I spoke to- rates him as far and away as their best player. Also interesting how many Leeds supporters think Beckford has gone off the boil this season and would be happy to offload him - word is that Newcastle might go for him. Maybe its just a proud, c**tish Leeds thing but their delusions of grandeur still stagger. One Leeds fan told me before the game "with all due respect, we expect to hammer teams like you" while at the end of the game, fans were chanting "1 nil in your cup final". With big markus at the helm instead of that miserable bast**d bates, we'll see who has the last laugh.
-
Absolutely - Lloyd has been there since day 1 when we were down to the kitchen sink and to his credit has filled in lots of different roles. He's certainly closer to the first team than some AP inherited and started, notably, Paterson. But that doesnt mean we should settle with that. Unlike Schneiderlin, Lallana, he hasnt made any position -RB, RM or CM- truly his own. And in varying degrees of priority they are all areas which could be strengthened in Jan. Feel sorry for Mills who has had Lallana and Harding ahead of him - two of our best players this season. If he had been a right sided player, he doubtless would have had more starts.

I only count the header as a scoring opportunity - as to other half-chances, it was so frantic with Leeds putting bodies in front of everything - hence James had a goal-bound volley blocked on the edge of the six yard. Leeds jumped on everything - at times illegally - thus, Antonio was mowed down which should have been a pen. I only count 3/4 chances at the end: the Gobern header, Harding's volley and Lamberts shot at the left-side hand side of the six yard box and maybe James volley. Out of all of them Lambert's chance was the probably the best but none were clearcut.
-
Bottling a shooting opportunity??? What the header which went narrowly wide??? Thought he did well to get to it given he was under pressure and their two CBs had given us nothing in the air all afternoon. Youre right though - take away the loanees -not only Mellis and Antonio but also Trotman and we don't have much on the bench. And Jaidi, Murty, Connolly and Perry could pick up injuries anytime....
