  1. I didnt realise how many bumpkins and yokels we had on this place.
  2. Now that Farage is standing down large numbers of candidates, does that mean he’ll have the time and energy to stand for MP (for the ninth time)? Or like the Brexiters on these threads, is he all talk and a bottle job?
  3. Hopefully we'll get to see Liz Truss, Matt Hancock, Jacob Rees Mogg and James Cleverly before then - a real group of high-fliers. Maybe even Boris trying to explain and failing to understand his own deal
  4. GM still doesn't realise that the more Brexit moves away from the swivel-eyed vision pursued by zealots like the ERG and espoused by him, Les, LD and others, the better it is for the pound. As I've said (for the nth time), the Benn Act eliminated the prospect no deal, at least temporarily, and was an ideal opportunity for profit-taking (done). Why he puts up charts he doesn't understand or who he's railing against is beyond me.
  5. We picked up points without ever really looking that impressive or dominant. The new manager bounce combined with a siege mentality can mask deficiencies and lack of quality for a spell but it’s harder to sustain over an entire season, especially if you are reliant on one or two matchwinners (i.e. Redmond), are thin in key areas (i.e. midfield) and it only takes a bad result or two for confidence to unravel. Opposing teams also have more info on you. Needless to say some of RH’s decisions have also not helped matters.
  6. They don’t see any contradiction because there is no real contradiction Les - again you characteristically and ignorantly misunderstand the nature of the EU and overestimate its power.
  7. Djenepo didn’t start at LWB. Cedric did.
  8. “Daylight” - that clear, unambiguous and easily enforceable instruction What happens for night games pal?
  9. Not really. It’s not about pumping money into the club indefinitely. It’s about being strategic and flexible. Additional short-term investment is required to weather the storm for the next couple of seasons as we shift deadwood, unwind previous mistakes and free up resources. After that point, hopefully, things will stabilise. Let’s also be clear: investment is not an act of charity - leaving aside the potential profitability of player trading, the franchise value of being in the PL has only gone up over time, so as long as we’re in the PL, Goa stands to benefit.
  10. So relative to income, operating costs are more or less in line with those of Bournemouth.
  11. Or play 3 at the back with Bertrand and Cedric in their correct positions. There’s little evidence that we can play consistently well with a back 4 whereas we did grind out results last season with 3CBs.
  12. Watch the South Park episode “Band in China”.
  13. Naive to say the least- she would almost certainly have had an army of lawyers, accountants and corporate finance specialists advising her on the takeover, not just Krueger and a dim paper pusher from accounts (one of her first actions when she took over in 2014 was to hire Christian Purslow to sound out the market for offers). I also know for a fact she’s had access to top talent in the legal and finance world. Never mind there were plenty of warning signs in real time - the PL, which is as spineless and laissez-faire as they come, raised the red flag over Goa’s fitness as a prospective owner. Liebherr not only ignored the PL’s initial decision but challenged and successfully overturned it. Little was going to stop Liebherr exiting her investment - nice, reassuring sounds from Goa about taking the club forward may have been the cherry on top for Liebherr but they weren’t going to make or break the takeover once a concrete offer materialised.
  14. Kat took Goa to the cleaners.
  15. Tide’s turning, patience finally ran out for Goa today, only going to get uglier from here on at SMS.
  16. And owners know that there’s no better way to destroy the value of your investment than relegation. It’s like waking up and discovering that the world has converted to veganism. Your assiduous sausage-making efforts will have been in vain.
  17. Glowsticks and air raid sirens Like a bunch of E'd up ravers trying to channel the spirit of the blitz.
  18. Boris Johnson broke the law Les. FACT.
  19. Shanghai Saint gets to tick it off the 92?
  20. Agree - its a decent result after last week but watching us was no different from watching Wigan a few years ago in the cup (only difference they beat City). We put in a similar performance under Mauricio Pellegrino only to revert to type the next few games when we had to show a bit more initiative. Mind you Djenepo showed some real flashes in his brief cameo (if anything he should have come on earlier as Ings was shot).
  21. Looked further out than that.
  22. Get djenepo on
  23. ffs stephens
  24. How’s her English?
  25. You still don't understand how negotiations with the EU fundamentally differ from the deals you have in mind. As for millions, I'll raise you billions. But the less said about me the better. I prefer to listen to trade experts who've lived and breathed this stuff for decades and say the same thing. Walking away is and was always an empty threat.
