  1. And it was a Whig government that passed the Jewish Relief Act enabling Jews to sit in Parliament.
  2. What does “he looked every bit a Jew” mean pal (ignoring the fact that he was baptised in the Church of England)?
  3. Wes Tender, Lord Duckhunter, Guided Missile and I meet up before most home games. We basically brainstorm, script and rehearse what they are going to post on the Brexit thread in the coming week to make the leave side look as stupid as possible. Undercover remainers, first-class satirists and above all a cracking bunch of lads in real life.
  4. Nah. If Les was between 75 and 85, he would have lived through WWII whereas most Brexiters are just war fetishists, complacent, full of s**t babyboomers who’ve no recollection of real hardship or sacrifice.
  5. The fool doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going. He doesn’t understand as rules on EU/EEA migrants are tightened, so the UK government will just meet any shortfall through increased non-EU migration, say Filipino nurses or Indian doctors. That will mean greater, not fewer numbers of migrants from poorer countries coming to the UK -more, not less, brain drain than under the current system with freedom of movement. Now watch the little fella do a complete 180. He’ll no longer feign concern about the economic effects of brain drain from poorer countries but how freedom of movement unfairly discriminates against non-EU migrants by giving priority status to EU migrants - of course, anyone with half a brain cell will immediately recognise that the two positions are mutually incompatible. Classic cake-and-eat-it thinking from your average dim rightwinger.
  6. Like you give a s**t pal. It’s the old Paul Nuttall conceit that Stewart Lee famously tore apart. Needless to say your concern for poorer countries suddenly stops when it comes to foreign aid.
  7. #clueless Funding has gone up but has not kept pace with rising demand and historical rates of funding. Every other G7 country -bar Italy- spends more on healthcare as a share of gdp than the UK. And no it doesn’t necessarily follow that a big rise in immigration puts a strain on the NHS or other public services. It depends on the fiscal impact of migration, how much migrants pay into the public purse relative to what they take out which is a function of their age profile and wider economic contribution. The impact may be positive in some cases (i.e. EEA migration) and negative in others. Complexity isn’t a forte, is it?
  8. Out of the high income G7 countries, only Italy spends a lower share of GDP on health than the UK; yet the dim rightwingers on here will get all angry about EU migrants and freedom of movement; then clap their hands like performing chimps when Boris throws a few bandaids at the NHS, happily excusing the government’s role in the wider funding crisis. He’s got them wrapped around his little finger. #blinder
  9. Most studies agree that migrants from the EU/EEA put more into the public purse than they take out, so yes they can fund their use of public services and more. Learn to think for yourself Jamie.
  10. What do you mean by open door immigration policy?
  11. Disagree with the last sentence.
  12. Translation: I got it wrong again and I’m changing the subject
  13. Proving my point again: freedom of movement is not the same as uncontrolled immigration. Freedom of movement is subject to a host of conditions and controls. Here’s another quote from a government whip, summarising the relevant parts of the Free Movement Directive. 3+ years and pompey poly’s second most famous graduate still struggles with the basics. To paraphrase Johnny Rotten, ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?
  14. No evidence whatsoever that it wouldn’t have passed or that all those who voted at the second reading would have bailed at a later stage. Johnson and Cummings do have thing one right mind: voters like you are credulous fools, easy touches who will just about buy anything. See GM who still doesn’t understand the difference between illegal immigration and freedom of movement, except that it gets him very angry as further evidence. You’ve never quite recovered from your car crash on here, trying to defend David Davis whopper that “within two years (i.e. 2018 ), before the negotiation with the EU was complete, the UK would have negotiated a free trade area massively larger than the EU”. It was after that you put me on ignore, wasn’t it my little snowflake?
  15. You also share the honour of being Putin’s little playthings. Cute eh?
  16. https://news.sky.com/story/teslas-elon-musk-says-brexit-uncertainty-made-uk-too-risky-for-new-factory-11860444 All due to #diesel
  17. Agree. The forwards still press but its far less coordinated than it used to be. You'd think that out of all the things within our control, outworking, outrunning and outpressing the opponent would be the easiest to execute - it is far less dependent on quality or talent. On the other hand, if you have a midfield and fullbacks that are painfully thin in depth, perhaps there are limits to how far you can return to basics over an entire season without running them into the ground. Never mind our CBs who are so slow that instructing them to press and play a high line is akin to a deathwish.
  18. Ings is hugely overrated as a PL player but cdajfu in the championship.
  19. I'm sure Les, LD and other extreme Brexiters might be quite sympathetic to some of their views and policies.
  20. Winnie the Pooh, HK flags etc are a tad cryptic and indirect. Just stick 高滚蛋 on a banner (translation: Gao out, f**k off Gao etc) and it won't leave any doubts.

  22. And statements like "the desire amongst the electorate had grown too strong and is now unstoppable" are utterly meaningless without holding a second referendum to establish whether this is in fact the case.
  23. Yet you're running scared of a second referendum. Good one Les.
