If we maintain our Premiership position
DrunkenSaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Morgan by a country mile. Young player goes to Shaw, crap player goes to Fox. -
Saints Reading Wigan, unless we can sort out the final 3rd part of our game we're down. Drastic changes are needed but we don't have depth.
-
A very good player, reads the game very well and does the simple stuff very well. Of course his crossing isnt any good, he's a CB lol
-
heart says no but gut says yes. Reason is he's 31 and that's a very good price for a over 30. Also we will be aiming for a Spanish/South American style of play and they don't tend to have a striker in the Lambo mould, they go for more of a striker who closes down, tracks back to help midfield, pacey, lots of movement etc, not having lambert will mean no long balls. Look at Liverpool, they have turned out to be a pretty good side since January, they have no big striker to aim for, they use lots of through balls to pacey forwards and it's working really well using the 433, something we should aim for. Loosing Lambo for a world class striker in the Suarez mould (without the cheating) would be great.

Fonte scares me and this would be more Spanish/South American style so no striker and JRod is playing well down the left, Forren to come off when he tires but he needs game time. Never know it might work... -----------------Boruc---------------- Clyne------Forren----Yoshida-----Shaw ------Cork-------Morgan-----JWP---- --Punch--------Ramirez--------JRod---- Subs: K.Davis, Fonte, Richardson, S.Davis, Lallana, Lambo, Mayuka

Team playing well under Pochettino: MYTH
DrunkenSaint replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I can see a lot of changes in the summer so he can get in players which will work to his system, i reckon a new striker to replace lambert ( he cant play that spanish type of football, he has no pace) 2 new wingers and a right and left back (more for cover). Where we lack is quality in the final 3rd. We don't really have anyone who gets the ball and runs at the defence, that always causes problems. lambo has on many occasions had the ball clear with only 1 defender left but he has no pace to take him on, instead he waits for ppl to support him and by that time they have more defenders and move breaks down. I'm not saying that we get rid of Lambo, Punch and Lallana, we just need better players who can do something they don't and having them as options on the bench or replacements for injuries would be a lot better than what we have atm. On a side note JRod has looked a lot better under MP. I think we should go 433 having 3 standard CM's, no playmaker types that would protect the defence a bit more, Cork Morgan Jwp would be my choice atm since i don't really get S.Davis but i would like a quality CM come in to play alongside Cork and Morgan. Oh and make Morgan captain. -
i'd play him in a midfield 3, jwp cork and morgan with lallana and punch on the wings, under MP we seem to be playing very well and have more goal threat when we have 3 CM playing in the 2nd half.
-
They were all staying up north for the game against Wigan
-
All depends, he was dreadful against Chelsea, he didn't even celebrate when Lambo scored but against a Everton side that didn't turn up in the first half he looked ok. I'd rather have someone in the Coutinho mould than Guly any day. Guly has improved though he now tracks back well and i've seen him tackle but i still do not think he is a premiership player that we need, i'm sure there will be a huge clear out at the end of the season if we stay up and i think Guly could be one of those who goes and maybe a one or two shocks. Playing the Spanish/Bacra style won't suit all our players.

Ode To A Superhero - Weird Al" Yankovic Score us a goal, you're the Spider-Man Score us a goal tonight 'Cause we all sure could use us a hero now And we think that you'll do all right
-
Played in his best position and fired up by a fellow South American, i think MP will get the best out of him
-
Oh i see, some chants are just shiiiiiite
-
looks like the 4231 formation, can someone tell me why are there boo's when Shaw has the ball? whats he done?
-
at this rate Newcastle will get relegated, maybe Norwich and West Ham will get dragged into the fight soon

Players Revolt? / First training session
DrunkenSaint replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
The club does not speak to The Echo, they make so much **** up it's unreal. -
I like him, i know he has a plan and i'm sure it will work. Everyone thought sacking Pards was strange and look how that worked out. Yes i'm a bit gutted that Nigel has gone but he did really annoy me at times through strange tactical changes. The new manager is meant to have a great tactical mind he was also let down badly by his old club, they had to sell all the good players for money reasons, his first season he did make 8th ( i think in the league) not bad for minnows in that league and with a young squad. I want this team to grow and i'm sure that having NA as manager wouldn't of given us that growth, he isn't a known manager and in these days players seem to like going to clubs where managers with a name to them, yes not all player do that but i'm sure it could be hindering some good quality transfers. Ramirez probably knew something when he came along and having someone like Pochettino will help a lot get more players like him in.
-
You sad sad ppl, get behind the new manager ffs, yes ppl does not like it ( i'm even gutted for Adkins) but there is nothing anyone can do now. You never know, it might work out and then everyone would look back at this as being a great move.

ok i know ppl are angry at this but maybe there were reasons, maybe the name Adkins couldn't attract players that we have been linked with? Some players like going to "known" managers, i'm sure NA would have got a good name over time but maybe NC has greater plans with very good players lined up? Only time will tell, would like to thank Nigel for the last 2 years of hard work and good luck to the future. -

what type of football does he play, was he the guy who plays 352? I must admit im a bit gutted as Nige had seemed to got the team going. IF NC lets this guy have a lot of money to stay up and get quality players in yes it could work out but i'm not too sure atm, we'll see. -
Do a QPR put everyone behind the ball, close them down quickly and hope to score on the counter, i'd play 3 at the back and try and keep the score down.
-
Great player but needs to play more central, he is not a wide left midfielder and he wont track back, MLT type player best played in the hole behind the striker.

Villa 0 v Saints 1 post match chat & MotM
DrunkenSaint replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
such a close table, pitty Reading, QPR and Wigan got something today although a win against Chelsea would be nice Shaw was my MotM, good performance from Morgan and Cork, Yoshida very tidy again he needs a good partner, JRod played the best game i've seen him play so far, Punch again played very well. -
J-Rod "frustrated" at first team chances.
DrunkenSaint replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in The Saints
I liked him as a Championship striker, i also like him as a future asset but in a relegation dogfight i don't really want him to play. As someone has already stated, he's best when playing 2 upfront but everytime we play like that we play badly, our best formation is the 4231 by a long shot, we seem to score goals and play a lot better football. If he can't adapt we need to try someone else. £7m is a lot of wasted money atm, i'd much prefer Lee coming on either for Lambo or playing behind Lambo if we need a goal, they both played very well together last season getting us victories when we needed them. Sorry for all you JRod fans, but he has not convinced me as a premiership player yet and if he needs time, that time could cost us premier status. -
Gross no thanks, Di Matteo yes please!!
-
Yoshida, Morgan or Cork i hope, never liked having a forward as captain, defenders or defensive midfielder's can control the back line making it more organised. I really wanted Cork to have it ahead of Lallana, really hope S.Davis don't get it, it would mean he'll have to play, he has not impressed me at all this season.
