Alpine, I like your style, but here, you're wrong. There's nothing wrong with a fan posting our unbeaten run, it's just for our pleasure as it hasn't happened a lot in recent history! What I don't think we need at this stage is a smart-arse telling us that, after one drawn game away from home, we have become obvious, predictable and the opposition have found a massive weakness that all upcoming opposition will no doubt exploit. I think you've made yourself look a little silly here.

That rules only applies to under 23s and as Thomson is definitely under 23 it wouldn't matter. A team can loan up to four players from any team. Torquay are my first team with Saints as my second so I'm enjoying this new found relationship the two clubs seem to have.

It's expected today that Matthew Paterson is signing for Torquay on loan.

We've had whipping boys recently because the players in question have been sh!te. We haven't been regelated twice because we've had great players. Some of them have been dross.

In Trotman, Schneiderlin, Lallana and Mellis we do have four of the brightest prospects outside the Premier League. Then in Davis, Jaidi, Lambert, Hammond and Waigo we have five players who most certainly should be playing above this level (The first three could do a job in the PL?). Murty, Connolly and Harding are experienced campaigners in the CCC. On paper, we should walk this league and the next

Southampton are my 2nd team but I've got Yellow blood, went to tonight's game and thought you lot were very, very poor. This "one way traffic" stuff just isn't true and we matched you throughout the game and finished stronger, missing two glorious chances from a corner and a one-on-one. We played 4-3-3 in the first half to counter-act your 3 in the centre but also give us a chance to take the game to you. It turned out that we couldn't quite be as attacking as we wanted but kept it very solid and deserved to go in at half-time level. It turns out we went in 2-0 up. Our number 23 (Charnock) attempted to mark Lambert out of the game (and did very well) and then when you played 3 holding midfielders in the centre, you had no outlet except Waigo, who was ineffective. Second half from 45 to 70 minutes, our manager got scared, went 5-4-1 and invited way too many crosses and long balls into our box where 2 scrappy, scrappy goals came from. We then brought on two wingers and got back into the game when we had the two chances to win it. We'll take great heart from the team's performance and Tyrone Thompson's performance (the small, black guy in the middle who won the penalty) who isn't normally a regular and was the best player on the pitch. Tim Sills (number 8, then 41) had the beating of both centre halves in the air and it was good to see Nicky Wroe try his attempted goal from the halfway line which he tries once every game Now putting my Saints hat back on for a minute, Waigo definitely didn't deserve a 10 for his second half performance - he was ok that was it. Joseph Mills was on par with Simon Gillett and Thomas and Perry certainly didn't help the cause by losing arial battles against Sills constantly. Davis was dodgy and at fault for both goals and Hammond and Wotton did nothing. James was the only player who looked like he could deliver a ball and that wasn't a consistent delivery by all means. I haven't seen Saints before today but I can imagine Lallana being a hugely influential player in the team and whoever posted for Lallana to be dropped because he causes a problem on where to play, shame on you! Seeing the team without him must worry you?

I still feel Lallana can do a job wide if we can find real width on the other side. Everytime Lallana has played wide, it has been James or Mellis on the other wing, and they aren't natural wingers either so the game has been closed up. If we can get Lallana on the right with Mills or Holmes on the left or even Waigo on the right and Lallana on the left we can leave him to drift inside and play in the hole and use the other wing to provide the width. Harding and Murty like to get forward (even if Murty struggles to get back!) so which ever side he plays the full backs can support. If we continue with unnatural wingers on both sides we'll struggle to provide Lambert with opportunites.

I'd go with that, although I'd have Kelvin Davis in goal. Saga is pants, I'd rather have Paterson playing!

Proof that the club have a long term plan in place and Pardew is here to build for the long term. The Sporting Director will be in place next summer to bring in the players Pardew wants next season to have a real go at this league. It's obvious that the new owner and his employees know the club was in such a mess it will take more than one month to start getting wins on the board. Pardew has made it clear he had no scouting network, no opposition reports, no decent backroom staff, nothing. That is slowly coming together and with it results will slowly start to come. Those who claim they will want Pardew out in five games if he doesn't start to pick up are just being ridiculous. Thank god the new owners are more rational and realise the extent of the situation. This season is all about getting a foundation ready for next season. With the players we have brought in already, however, I'm sure results will start to pick up sooner rather than later.
