  1. With the cost of electricity hitting businesses harder than domestic users (and that it saying something), I wonder if winter games will get to be kicked off at say 1300hrs to save on the cost of floodlights etc. This happened during the three day week back in the 1970's and was also the case prior to the introduction of floodlights in the 1950's. I guess most fans have become used to the changes in KO times due to TV scheduling.

    Russia

They are blowing their collective noses or airing some sheets before bed time!!
  3. That's the way to leave a club. A very good player, great servant, likeable and intelligent. A credit to himself and his family. Best of luck for the future Oriel. Forever a Saint/
  4. With the Spanish lad playing at left back I wonder where that leaves Thierry Small who was touted as being our future No 3? Notice he was only named as sub for Port Vale when they played some nondescript team last Saturday.
  5. Out of interest does the 2023 transfer window still operate in January despite the World Cup affecting game time from November and most of December?
  6. Shame we didnt get the third goal we nearly scored as this would have made things a bit easier. Chelsea had finesse we had heart, commitment and physicality. I enjoyed it.
  7. Nice place Falmouth. Always find a way to visit on our annual visit to deepest Cornwall.
  8. I have followed Saints since the year dot and played to a decent level so like to think I have a reasonable view of players. However I thought KWP was too lightweight for us and we had paid too much for him. Goes to show I am just like many fans in my player assessment!!! However whilst I may have a moan to mates around me I would never verbally abuse a player or Manager, although I may have offered a more comprehensive opinion about his Managerial skills to Mr Branfoot.
  9. When we were in the Championship I had 4 season tickets two of which I gave to a retired friend and his wife who supported Ipswich to join me at the game. Unfortunately Ipswich scored first and my friend's wife put her hands together to applaud. Just one clap before realising it wasnt the done thing. A few days later I got quite a nasty letter from the club reminding me that tickets in the home end were for home supporters only and I would lose all my 4 tickets if it was found that I provided entrance to away fans in future. Apparently a couple of old farts behind us had taken the trouble of reporting the situation to the club. As a consequence of this I gave up three of the seats and moved my own seat to another location for the following season. The way the club treats home supporters in comparison to away fans is an ongoing problem.
  10. Speculation that Chelsea have offered £25m plus Broja and Gallagher for Anthony Gordon. If true that will be a good deal for Everton and likely to really strengthen one of our relegation rivals.
  11. I came across Dave on a few occasions when he was working for an Office furniture company and later assisted with an event he was arranging. He was a very underrated player for Saints Found him to be a really nice man and shame he has gone so soon
  12. Actually I reckon KWP would be better suited to a wide right midfielder role. He looked good in a cameo performance pre season at SMS when Valery played right back, and actually did very well.
  13. Notice that Broja wasn't involved in the Chelsea squad today which may say something although it seems our interest in him may have cooled,
  14. Selles will take over from Ralph!!
  15. So if Jack Stephens leaves for Watford, this leaves Salisu and Bocha- Ketchup plus Lyanco and possibly Valery as our remaining central defenders as I dont think Simeu is ready yet.
  16. Who's the dancer? James Brown?
  17. What's the feeling about next year should we be relegated? I guess the likes of JWP/KWP would go and some of the older players like Romeu who will be near the end of his contract. Wonder if some of the younger players would hang around?
  18. Sammy and Mary Saint have been sharing a life support machine after both of them nearly expired in the oppressive heat at St Marys on Saturday!!
  19. We were 3/1 for relegation at the start of start of last season and slightly shorted odds this year. It will be very tight again this season unless we can get a decent striker and cover at left back. That said Leeds fans have said the same and there are other clubs eg Everton and Wolves who are chasing 15 goal strikers
  20. Any idea of the attendance> Not shown on Saints website or Sunday Times
  21. Piece in the Sunday Times today. Despite Liz Truss boasting of all the trade deals she has done, basically cut and pastes of exiting deals in truth, the Uk is underperforming other G7 countries in export revenue which most people will recognise is due to the current difficulties in trading with our largest export market ie the EU.
  22. If some of our transfers have not worked out, I guess we should be pleased that no none suggested us paying £25m for Dan James, who came on as sub and suffered the embarrassment of being hooked off.
  23. As has been said in other posts we were very second best for three quarters of the game. The subs made the difference and perhaps Leeds became a little bit tired after being at full tilt up until then. My observations: BAZANU.....................did enough to confirm he is our No 1 KWP.......... ................class player who stuck his goal away immaculately. BELLA_KOTCHAP....did OK and think he will grow into the team. SALISU.......'''''''''''''''''''an OK performance. Problem he has is that his footwork is limited and whenever he receives the ball at the back his passing ability is often limited to long balls forward. BEDNERAK................ From what I saw he did OK. DJENEPO...................he tries hard and has to put up with playing in an unfamiliar role. However we desperately need a proper left footed left back. Hurry back Peraud, or similar. JWP.......................... He is not a left sided advanced midfielder. Off the pace a bit in comparison to his normal top rate performance but still a good performance. Fitted in better later on when moved to his right midfield position. LAVIA........................ A bit hit and mis but for a 19 year old making only his second Prem appearance, there is much to look forward to with this lad. S. ARMSTONG..........Looked a little lost in his allocate position. To my mind his best position is wide right midfield. ADAMS..................... Gave his all but produced very little. ELYOUNOOUSSI...... A couple of decent involvements. Otherwise bang on average. SUBS ARIBO...................... Made an impact from the moment he was introduced. Thought he had missed the opportunity to score but his perseverance saved the day. A. ARMSTRONG......Looked lively when he came on. To my mind he can only function playing off a target man. MARA.......................Two bits of class. The wonderful through ball to KWP and a snap shot, well saved, soon after. It will take some time for him to bed in but he may have something special. STEPHENS............... Too late to make an impression. THE MANAGER........Saved by his substitutions. Up until then his job was really under pressure. I really hope he can turn this awful run of results round but I'm not so sure.
  24. Can any one remember what it is like to feel the elation of winning a game, comfortably? Seems like an age ago (Brentford @ home??) that this happened.
  25. Under 18's won 5-1
