Saints V Millwall,1st half & half time chat..
spyinthesky replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
when was the last time we won our 1st game of the season and how many games on Sky now without a win A draw, in the circumstances, was a good result -
Scores winner for Blackpool against Everton tonight in pre season friendly Arguably would have done an OK job for us in L1 but at a vastly reduced wage!!

'encouraging'

Man City are the new Blackburn!! Quite a few pristine City kits around and about the Cornwall area recently Still prefer these to the Man Utd counterparts. Actually saw one or two Saints kits which was Yet to see a new Newcastle away kit. Apparently approx 4 replicas have been sold
-
Unfortunately Pompey are still far stronger than us. David Nugent is a struggling Premier striker but would be outstanding in League 1 let alone the Championship. Hopefully the gap will close very soon

Hooray... into the second round of the JPT

Surely someone has their geography wrong Bournemouth in the South West group whereas Exeter (further west) are in the southern draw!! -
Have a look at Richer Sounds in London Rd

Pro Glaze was mentioned earlier on. They fitted my replacement windows recently. Decent price and good service. I had a subsequent problem with my conservatory roof (nothing to do with them as built several years ago). They came round and fixed FOC

In a tyre shop today replacing two front tyres and a balance (£250!!) and Ruddock was on the Jeremy Kyle show. Couldnt hear the sound but Ruddock looks well over weight, with thinning swept back greasy hair. Anyone know what he'e up to now? Did a decent job for us in his time here

Celebrity ships are 5 star. Rather more for the 'older' set so if you are younger than 50 I would plump for Royal Caribbean
-
Bradford City have sold over 10,000 season tickets for the 3rd year in a row. However prices are £99 prior to 31.12.08/ £138 prior to 1/3/08 and £250 if buying now ie just over a tenner a game. Compare this to £18 at non league Oxford Better to have a ground fullish at lower prices than empty at premium prices Dear Rupes would never understand
-
Equinox in tomorrow as stated Lots of other non cruise ships in port too especially along W docks. Grimaldi/Wallenius and a big scrap ship at 108 Who says the ports not busy Grand Bleu still at 49 berth with a yacht tied up alongside
-
We'll be fine when Anthony Pulis gets fit
-
Isnt the new Celebrity ship 'Equinox' in port today too and is the 'Grand Bleu' (Abromovich's old tub) still at 49 berth?
-
Didn't Portsmouth used to be in the County of Southampton?

See Eastleigh Boro Council, under leader Keith House, are underwriting a £35m expansion of the Rose Bowl. Fair enough and good to see improved facilities for cricket fans. However wasn't this the Keith House who wanted nothing to do with football at Stoneham. Double standards methinks

Remember these from my past paticularly a trip to a 3rd Rd game at Hull in mid 60's with train leaving Soton Docks station at midnight and getting into a freezing and foggy Hull about 7am .Lost 1-0 and not back until 3/4am Sunday morning then up at 6am to do Sunday paper round in pouring rain. Happy Days!! Anyway Football Specials are back on the Agenda. Good news 1st Class carriages so comfort guaranteed Bad news - no booze allowed. Straw poll - Anyone interested in jaunts to Midlands & beyond. Need minimum of 250/300 to make it a goer
-
Baj Sounds like good news Amazing you got a GP appointment so quickly The NHS is not that bad after all
-
Baj, how's the boy?

I read somewhere that Alan Knight, the ex Pompey 'keeper, was awarded a MBE in 2001 and I think Steve Bull may have been similarly rewarded for his time at Wolves Now I have no objection to this as we should all support club loyalty where ever that may be However this brings in to sharp focus the constant overlooking of Matt Le Tizz for a gong, a man who achieved far more in the game than Alan Knight and does lots around the local community. Any one know what the procedure is to put Matt's name forward? Separately what about the reported gifts of £150k watches being given to the poorly paid Man City players!!

Pulis/Forecast (5 yr deal?)/Gasmi plus Ryan Smith (Millwall Res) Molyneaux and Schneiderlin (£1m when we were supposedly broke) I can only guess these were inspired signings by our dear departed Chairman rather than whoever was Head Coach at the time. Can you imagine Mr Pulis turning up for training and the Head Coach thinking.. what on earth am I going to do with this joker..
-
I very much doubt it. He seems to be an astute business man In fact he would be far better squandering/investing £25m + in or esteemed football club than sinking it into the QE2 Perhaps Pompey's prospective new owner might like to buy the ship and donate it to Soton in a gesture of goodwill. He could make a grand entrance direct from Dubai and get dropped off at the Palmerston Forts!!
-
Great in theory BUT where will it go? Altho Soton Docks is struggling a bit during the recession every one of its deep water berths is used by regular customers. Even if a berth was to be made available ABP would want a fair amount of berth fees. Bearing in mind millions of UK residents have been on cruie ships, one visit is the best you can hope for, and then what? The ship is not really cut out for a hotel or conference centre. Who would buy the ship at say £25-£50m, pay for the internal improvements and, more importantly, pay for the upkeep as it rusts in our damp climate. Having said all that the vessels engines could provide a fair amount of electricity into the UK grid but the green brigade would soon be on this case. Would love to be proved wrong on this but cant see a business case being made
