Not a nice team or a nice location. Plenty of weird people on the touchline too. Veracity Ground changing rooms. A Nissan Hut shared with 6 or 8 other teams. Had to leave all your gear in your car for fear of theft. Exceedingly manky showers Supposed to have been a FA Cup played there pre WW1. Thorneycrofts v Burnley

I must admit at being surprised at seeing McGlaggon shown at over 6' on the Saints FC site Thought he must have shot up since last year which obviously isnt the case Some of the stats seem to be wrong Also looking at the saints team pic. some of the players appear to be standing on tip toes to look taller if you look closely. Must admit to doing this myself when I used to be in team photos!!

Have given a lot away Also got hold of some fairly useful stuff However feel sure there are people making a living from it and the organisers get terrible stick, on occasions, from those who feel 'wronged'

I can remember walking down to the old Echo Office with my Dad and hanging round to get a first copy (in a queue) Dad had something to do with a Pools syndicate and needed the results asap to work out winners etc. Also there would be later editions of the Echo on sale outside the Dell with latest scores in the margins. People used to buy these oddly Also remember all the Corporation buses parked up outside the Dell, as few people had cars. Those with bikes could park them in neighbouring houses for a 1d Was in the new Echo Offices a couple of years back. Explained to me that the circ\ulation of the Sports Echo (and the Daily Echo to some extent) was directly dependent on the Saints success. Should think circulation is healthier now than in last couple of years!!

Saints v Havant would have been 'interesting'

Ant Pulis started for Lincoln at Maccesfield on Sat Played wide right in a 5 man midfield From their supporters forum about Pulis ...'clearly not a wide midfielder and was substituted after 64 minutes... Better luck next time or will he follow Forecast and be returned before the expirt of his loan?

Saints 2009/10 would comfortably beat Saints 2008/09

Interesting thread What about comparing current side v the Burley play off side and 1st year championship team Have to say it is a good feeling at the moment but we have to be careful not to big up the current side too much until it starts performing consistently -
Murdoch's flag ship Red Top (ie the Sun) has recently come out in favour of Cameron. So our favourite Aussie/American Media Mogul has jumped ship it appears

I was at the Coventry, Southend and Watford Home games The 5-1 win at Div1 (then Prem equivalent) Man City won us the Giant Killers Cup. Derek Reeves scored 4. Think I'm right to remember that we drew 2-2 at watford and lost at home in the replay. I certainly remember Watford had a big old CF by the name of Cliff Holton who gave our defence a hard time. This was a really disappointing result after the euphoria of Man City and a decent run in League 3 (todays League 1) Up in Chocco Boxes for these games

Disappointed that there is no chance of us playing Garforth Town. Thought by now they would be knocking on the door of league 2 on way to the Prem under Simon Clifford!! I remember Saints playing Weymouth, Walton & Hersham and Woking in my earlier days of watching Saints in the FA CUP At one of the ties they played in Light Blue and Dark Blue Quarters (I think) which were the colours of the Hants FA. Can't remember why

Welcome back CH. Good to see you are back in positive mode. Look forward to seeing your revised list of new signings. btw I think it is a sensible policy to redevlop FP. Having said that, despite an emotional attachment to the Dell, I am v happy at St Marys. I never, ever, thought we would enjoy decent facilities. It's nice to have decent bar and toilet facilities and not get soaking wet when it rains which I did for many years as a Chocolate Box regular

According to one of the Lincoln forums ....'The signing of Anthony Pulis is potentially of massive importance to the Red Imps'.... They seem him as a holding midfielder. Hope they're not disappointed

Have a look at the chavtastic customised Bentley (with pink hood and special seats with an undying message of lurve embriodered into the cowhide) which this fairly talented but grossly overpaid Man City player has bought his latest 23 yr old squeeze for her birthday. Another case of ...'What do you think you would have been Stephen if you had not been a successful footballer? ...... 'A virgin'!!

Pulis in for Mellis!! Will be good to see our star acquistion in action at last!!
-
I'd like Piers Morgan's view on all this. He categorically stated that Al Faim was a real financial player. Surely a well respected TV media star and editor of the Daily Mirror can't be wrong!!

Great feeling to get a handsome win Bit of perspective though. Gillingham were pants but if there are several similar sides around we will take decent points off them and move up the league. Thought Trottman was poor first half and seemed to be having a problem. Pardew gave him a talking to and Hammone/Jaidi and Wooton went out of their way to spk with him. Better second half. Waigo good and bad in equal measure. Otherwise good performances from Harding, Hammond, Lambert & Lallana and generally acceptable elsewhere. Still think we need to improve in 3 positions but it feels good tonight!!

Anyone see BBC Lunchtime programme today? Featured Youth Football Interview with George Prost, in charge of the set up at Lyon (one of top European teams) and Huw Jennings, now in charge at Fulham I'm not a Lowe luvvy but you have to say the Youth set up here was more successful when he was in charge. Of course, this may have been due to more money being invested and the lure of the Prem to young players

Soton City Council Leader, Royston Smith, said publically on Tues that the City will support a Saints World Cup bid 1. Too late? 2. If not would you, as a Soton ratepayer, be happy to spend £200k out of taxes on a support document as Liverpool have done for what should be a nailed on application in their case?

Similarities? 2009/10 Pimpey, a club with significant financial problems and a deluded chairman, sign a 27yr old with no Prem and very limited lower league experience for a reported £3m 2008/9 Saints, a club with significant financial problems and a deluded chairman, sign a young untried French player with limited experience for £1m, a 4th choice Spurs 'keeper with no 1st team experience on a 5yr contract, a 25 yr old with virtually no 1st team experience with several nondescript lower league teams on a 3 yr deal, and an ageing Plymouth player who is offered twice the contract term and 50% more wages than his previous club. Must be the air on the South Coast!!
-
Bookies stopped taking bets on him leaving Pimpey. Couple of scenarios: 1. He's going back to his 'spiritual home' as part of a Storrie- Tellers consortium 2. He is featured in an expose in the NOW on Sunday. If this is related to Football finance, could Pimpey be implicated Place your bets now

Does he still go to SMS? He was high profile for the Ajax game but seems to have gone to ground since Some suggestion he and Lawrie were upset at being asked to pay for tickets. Can't honestly see this upsetting Crouch as he appears to have supported the club big style in the past. Understand the 'new broom' concept but, for all his sins, the bloke was a keen Saints supporter and was always willing to put his hand in his pocket

Combination of factors, mainly sport related. Regular physio since then. Have tried to exercise cautiously to strengthen back and maintain posture. Sure all this has helped but mattress has been part of the recovery process it seems

I have a bad back Tried firm mattresses but no good. Bought a memory foam mattress. Kids have them too Works for me and Mrs Spy and young Spy's
